Karl's POV
Even though I had always treated Valerie as a toy I could play with and a prize I would win after the bet with Mike was complete, I never imagined seeing her in such a bad state.
Of course, she had been beaten many times before by pack members. Sometimes I would step in and offer some protection, just to improve her impression of me and make it easier for me to win the bet.
At times I would just let them beat her. After all, a good slave needed training.
But I never imagined seeing her beaten to an inch of her life. Even without touching her, I could tell she was breathing out more than she was breathing in.
The air in her lungs was running out, probably because some broken bones were poking her lungs.
If the doctors didn't move quickly, she would definitely die.
I felt anger that I had never felt before. How dare anyone turn my prey into such a mess?
Now, even if I showed concern, Valerie wouldn't know because she had been beaten into unconsciousness.
