"I don't want any other body seducing her."
And suddenly Marcus understood. Jealousy. Raw, embarrassingly sincere, all the more powerful for coming from a man who ruled two hundred packs.
So he answered honestly. "Don't you believe in your own charm?"
Kade gave him a warning look.
Marcus continued anyway. "She chose you against her family. She has no one else apart from you. She sleeps with you willingly." Then, gently, "Don't you think she likes you?"
Silence.
The Mercedes began descending into underground parking. The city disappeared. Concrete walls replaced glass. The vehicle slowed.
And only then—very quietly—Kade said, "Really?"
Marcus looked at him. Saw, for one startling moment, not the Royal Alpha of two hundred packs, but a man asking a real question.
"Yes." Marcus nodded. "Yes, Alpha."
The car stopped. Doors opened. They stepped into the parking lot, footsteps echoing across polished concrete as security moved into position.
Kade said nothing more.
