"Promise?" Dakota asked, hating how small her voice sounded.
"Promise." He reached out, pulling her against his chest despite her half-hearted attempt to maintain distance. "Though if you keep wiggling like that, I might reconsider."
Dakota froze immediately. "Not wiggling."
"Good." His arm came around her waist, holding her securely against him, his warmth seeping into her sore muscles. "Now sleep."
"You can't just order me to sleep," Dakota muttered, even as her body betrayed her by relaxing into his hold. "That's not how sleep works."
"And yet you're already getting drowsy." His voice was smug. "I can feel your breathing changing."
He was right, damn him. The combination of exhaustion, warmth, and the surprisingly comfortable weight of his arm around her was dragging her toward sleep despite her mind's continued spinning.
"You... You.... You...."
Her words trailed off drowsily.
