His hands tightened on her waist, but not in the way she'd been angling for. "Get off," he said quietly, but with enough steel that she knew he meant it.
"I thought you wanted me," Dakota said, continuing her attempts despite his words. "Isn't that what claiming means? That I'm yours to use?"
"Dakota," Kade said, and this time his hands physically lifted her off his lap, setting her on her feet with efficient strength that brooked no argument. "Stop."
She swayed slightly, something cracking in her carefully maintained façade of seductive nonchalance. "Why? You marked me. Claimed me. Said I was yours. So why not just...."
"Because that's not what the mark means, and you know it," Kade interrupted firmly.
He moved past her to the door, opening it to reveal guards stationed in the hallway who'd clearly been close enough to hear at least some of the conversation.
