Chapter 82 - Chapter 82

 "No."

My answer was short.

Simple.

 But to me…

It felt heavy.

Minju blinked, then smiled a little.

"Oh… okay. Maybe he isn't ready yet," she said softly.

"But it's his choice. He said he doesn't love, but…"

She quickly interrupted me.

"Do you want Jimin and Yoongi to start talking again?"

I froze.

 "Uh…?"

That could never happen.

They've been enemies for as long as I can remember.

 "How?" I asked.

She looked at me seriously.

"Do you know… they used to be best friends?"

My eyes widened.

…That's a lie.

 She shook her head.

"They became enemies when people and family started comparing them. They both wanted to be better… and slowly, they drifted apart."

I stayed quiet.

"Seeing them talk again…" i smiled sadly, "…might be the best thing that would happened."

Before I could reply continue

 "Minju!"

Jimin's voice echoed from one side of the hallway.

 At the same time

Yoongi walked from the other side.

Both of them stopped when they saw each other.

 Their eyes locked.

Cold.

 Sharp.

Then

 They both turned.

Ready to walk away.

 "YAH!!!" I shouted loudly.

The whole hallway went silent.

Oops.

 Too loud.

They both froze.

Slowly…

They turned back.

"Will you both come with us to the mystery game house?" I asked.

They both looked like they wanted to refuse.

But something in the air changed.

A challenge.

A silent one.

"…Fine," they both said at the same time.

 ******

Mystery Game House

"We're here…" I said, looking up.The building looked dark.

 Old.

Creepy.

Minju stepped forward.

"It's simple," she explained.

"We'll be divided into two teams boys vs girls."

She smiled.

"The team that solves the case and escapes first wins."

"And the losers?" Yoongi asked calmly.

"They give the winners a prize," Minju replied.

Jimin smirked slightly.

"Why not do it by couples?"

Minju looked at him.

"Not everyone here is a couple."

"Let's just start," I said quickly, dragging Minju outside.

 ****

"Starting in… hana… dul… set…"

The lights went off.

 Darkness.

Complete darkness.

Then

A voice echoed through the house.

 "Welcome."

"Your mission…"

"Is to solve a murder case."

*Find the killer, explain how the victim died, and unlock the exit before time runs out.*

A dim red light turned on.

The room slowly became visible,Dusty furniture,Broken clock.

 A table in the middle.

On it

A photo.

 A knife.

And a letter.

No one spoke.

Even Jimin and Yoongi stayed quiet.

Jimin picked up the letter and read:

 "I didn't mean to kill him…

It was an accident.

But now… everyone thinks I'm a monster."

He picked up the photo.

 Three people.

One of them was crossed out with red ink.

 Yoongi stepped closer.

"Look at the knife," he said.

"There's no blood."

Jimin frowned.

"Then how is it a murder weapon?"

They searched the room.

There were clues:

A broken clock stuck at 9:15

A glass cup with lipstick stain

A locked drawer

Footprints on the floor (only one direction)

Yoongi spoke

"The killer didn't stab him…"jimin turned to him.

 "The knife is a distraction."

Yoongi added .

"The glass has lipstick. So someone else was there."

 Jimin walked to the clock.

"Time of death… 9:15."

He looked at the footprints.

"They only go in… not out."

Silence.

 Then

"The killer never left," Yoongi said.

My heart skipped.

"Meaning… the killer is still inside this house?" he whispered.

 The lights flickered.

CREEEEAK....

A hidden door opened slightly.

Jimin stepped closer.

"There's a switch here," he said.

Yoongi grabbed his wrist.

 "Don't."

Jimin looked at him.

 "It could be a trap."

"And it could be the exit," Jimin replied.

Their eyes locked.

Tension.

 Again.

"Don't touch it," Yoongi said firmly.

"You're not my boss," Jimin snapped.

 "It's common sense."

"Oh really?"

They stepped closer.

 The air grew heavy.

 Then

Click.

Jimin pressed it.

Everything went silent.

Both of them froze.

"…Oh."

 "…Oh."

They said at the same time.
