Chapter 5 - V - The Bell

Just a distinct—mile away, a metallic chime cut through the roar of the thunderstorm.

Ding—a sound similar to a door bell rings.

It didn't just reach the ear of every living being it travels through; It seemed to physically affect and alter the environment. The frequency of wave sound had given a pure, stabilizing panic, calmed the river, and washed over the chaotic branched forest. Suffocating gray fog instantly dissolved, pushed back by an unseen force, as if the fog had opened the path to the sound, for it travels through to every corner of the landscape.

Through the newly cleared air and cleared fog, a silhouette emerged from the hut. It is shaped as a human being, not a beast. In the beings that walk and creep to the man's sight, a lamp burns with a warm, steady key-light in the left side of the being. And In it's right, a brass bell shaped ring had just appeared from the fog from half of a mile away.

The mist parted. Standing at the edge of the ravine, it was an ancient woman—an old lady, holding a flickering lamp in one hand and the ringing bell in the other.

The granny then ring the bell again,

Ding.

The second ring of the bell had triggered a violent shift to every corner of the atmosphere. A sudden sound blasted through the edge of the ravine. With a deafening crack, distorting, and vignetting the surrounding.

Above the man, the beast had tattered apart its wings to finally earn his reward after hunting—but the wind caught the colossal, rotting log suspending the branches above. The timber had snapped and it threw itself like a sudden chuggling to the mouth of the beast, impaling the beast's leathery wing and driving the creature face-first into the mud, the monster had a log that tore from its fang to its spine. The beast collapsed to its knees, pinned to the earth.

Fate, the unexpected guest, had just intervened.
