Chapter 71 - Camp

A week has passed, and the I-Expo has closed it doors. And with saddened hearts, Class 1-A had to separate from their new friend Melissa.

And now the next day after they returned from I-Island, Class 1-A were all gathered back at UA, wearing their school uniforms. But an hour before they were to depart to their summer camp, Sukuna called for a emergency class meeting, saying that Momo had something to show them.

"These are amazing, Momo! You made all of them?" Izuku asked with stars in his eyes, as Momo presented them sleek black communicators and earpieces in boxes.

Momo nodded, a confident smile forming on her lips. "They're upgraded versions of the walkie talkies I gave you all previously." She explained as Bakugo picked it up.

"Planning for villains already?" Bakugo muttered, picking one up and flipping it in his hand.

"Better be safe than sorry." Momo nodded in return. Tokoyami grabbed one with approval in his eyes. Anything that sounded like tactical preparation fits his aesthetic.

"How is this one better than our previous ones?" Jiro curiously asked, as everyone grabbed one for themselves.

"For one, they're smaller. You can clip them onto a collar or belt so hands remain free during combat or rescue work. And instead of a loud speaker, it uses a tiny earpiece with bone-conduction audio so messages stay private even during chaos. So don't lose them." Momo explained and reminded, as most of them clipped the compact communications device near their belts, while the girls clipped it near their skirts.

"And that's not all. This device hops across multiple frequencies automatically. This is what engineers call frequency hopping spread spectrum." Momo continued, as most of the class tilted their head at her in confusion. Iida hummed softly, rubbing his chin.

"I read this in a book somewhere before. The military uses this to avoid jamming."

"Of course you did." Some of the class mumbled as Iida continued.

"Since standard radios rely on a single frequency band, when you jam that frequency, the whole network goes silent. But this device won't have that problem." He explained.

"Oh! So basically if the villains try to block them, the signal just jumps somewhere else right?" Mina stated, to which Iida nodded in return.

"Each device would also have a short-range relay function. That means, even if someone is deep in the forest with no direct signal, the message can bounce through nearby classmates like a chain until it reaches everyone." Momo added. Sero sighed.

"That's pretty genius of you, Yamomo. But I just hope we can relax for once and not deal with the villain bullshit." Sero commented. Everyone nodded in agreement.

"I am only preparing just in case it really does happen. Other than that, all of us should go have a fun time." Momo smiled at them. Sukuna glanced at his watch.

"C'mon, let's go. The buses are probably here."

...

"I heard some of y'all got medals for saving I-Island. You must think you're superior than all of us huh???" Class 1-A deadpanned at Monoma, who has been doing nothing but taunting them ever since they gathered near the bus stop.

Though what Monoma stated wasn't wrong, the group that had jumped into action when I-Island was under attack were asked to attend a ceremony to which they received medals for saving their I-Island. Once again, Class 1-A had become the nation's hot topic.

But all that aside, Sukuna finally did get that dance he wanted with Mina after the awarding ceremony was over. He swore Mina wanted to kiss him on the lips that night, but he kept himself in check just in case.

"I'ma just gonna go ahead and do y'all a favor." Bakugo muttered, raising his hand at Monoma. Iida subsequently pushed it back down.

"No. He deserves a worse punishment." He muttered, earning a laugh from Bakugo. Even Iida, the school's number 1 rule enforcer, was tired of Monoma's antics.

"The hell are you laughing about—ACK!" Monoma was karate chopped in the back of his neck by Kendo, who smiled apologetic at Class 1-A.

"Sorry y'all. I hope you don't think all of us are like him." Mina waved her off.

"Nahh, you're good." Mina grinned, approaching the girls of 1-B, striking up a conversation with them already. Aizawa dropped by a few minutes later.

"Let's go already, you guys can talk when you're at the camp."

...

"These brats are so noisy..." Aizawa muttered under his breath as he sat in the same bus with his students, who were all busy chatting away with one another, some even exchanging snacks. The teacher was expecting to have some more time to take a quick nap on the bus, but as always, things always didn't go the way he wanted to with Class 1-A.

"Selfieee!!" Mina cheered, holding up a selfie stick as everyone got into frame. The camera made a snapping noise as the picture was taken.

"Ah! This is so cute!" She squealed as she reviewed the photo, before sending it to the group chat. The fun continued for almost an hour longer, before they arrived at a suspicious rest stop.

"What kinda rest stop is this? There's no toilet in sight." Denki commented as everyone stepped off the bus. The stop they were on was on a mountain. They could all see the forest before them from where they were standing. Within the sea of trees, there laid a suspicious random building.

"Class 1-B isn't with us. Did they decide to move ahead or something? And what's with that car?" Mina mumbled, staring at a random car near them. Just then, the car doors opened.

"Lock on with these sparkling gazes!" One woman shouted.

"Stingingly cute and catlike!" Another continued.

"Wild, Wild.... Pussycats!" The two women struck a posse before the class, while a child stood beside them, looking unimpressed.

"These are the Pussycats, they will be helping us during the camp." Aizawa introduced the two. Izuku was already fanboying.

"They're a four member team who all work under a single agency. They specialize in mountain rescue operations, they've been in the business for 12 years now—"

"Hey! Who are you calling old huh?!" Pixie Bob, a beautiful woman with long blonde hair and blue eyes, went up to Izuku with killing intent in her eyes.

" We're all 18 at heart! Got it?!" The 31 year old woman shouted. Izuku nodded silently, getting her message. Mandalay, the leader of the hero team, laughed a little before getting back to business.

"This whole area is our territory. And your lodgings are over there, at the foot of that mountain." She pointed for them.

'So we're already starting with the training? They could've at least let us change into our P.E outfits first.' Denki complained internally, maintaining a cool and composed facade.

Mandalay hummed softly as she glanced at her watch. "It's now 9:30 a.m., I'm thinking you'd make it around noon at least." She grinned at them. "Kitties who don't make it by 12:30 don't get any lunch!" She declared, as Pixie Bob rushed past the group, crouching behind them.

Aizawa grinned, waving at them. "Sorry kids, training camp starts now." Class 1-A was knocked into the forest by a giant landslide caused by Pixie Bob's earth manipulating Quirk. He was amused as he heard their screams and curses while they fell.

"It's our private territory, so feel free to use your Quirks! You've got three hours to make it through the Beast's Forest! Have fun!"

Izuku spat out some dirt. Sukuna patted some dirt off his shoulder before he glanced at a strange creature approaching them. It was a beast made out of earth.

"I c-can't control it." Koda stuttered out nervously, having tried controlling the beast with his Quirk. Sukuna hummed as his signature markings spread across his face.

A single second later, he, Izuku, Bakugo, Iida and Todoroki all coincidentally reacted at the same time, all five of them pulverizing the earth beast into bits.

"Hey! I was about to deal with it!" Mina shouted, having already clasped her hands together.

"There's more on the way." Momo reported, having already sent out a drone to scan the area, the first thing she did after landing in the forest.

"Man they're fast! One of them is already destroyed!" Pixie Bob commented, still at the rest stop with Mandalay and Aizawa. The blonde woman was utilizing a built-in navigation system in her goggles to keep track of them.

"This is exactly why I've allowed them to accelerate their training." Aizawa commented. Mandalay glanced at him as he explained.

"Due to the increased number of villains, and my class having encountered them in several situations, some more than others. They need this training now more than ever. I want them to get their provisional licenses as soon as possible." He continued.

"And three more just went down. Looks like most of the kids in your class are heavy hitters." Pixie Bob commented. Aizawa shrugged as he walked away.

"Don't even think about going easy on them, that's all I'm saying. I'll leave them to you, Pixie Bob." He waved, slowly leaving as Pixie Bob grinned in delight. Mandalay looked at the small child accompanying them.

"C'mon, Kota. Let's go."

"Tch..."
