Chapter 41 - Fights

(Y'all really just realized that Mina's mommy looks like android 21?)

....

"Nice going, gurl!" Uraraka high fived Mina who laughed, joining them. Mina had just won her fight between her and Aoyama without breaking a sweat.

"That was well thought out." Momo nodded. Mina, not wanting to use too much of her stamina in using her quirk, exploited Aoyama's weakness. Aoyama had overused his belt, causing him to feel stomach pains and, in that moment, Mina rushed up and one hit KO'ed him.

"Hah! Finally my turn!" Bakugo shouted as he blasted towards the arena from the stands, landing on it, grinning at Uraraka who floated her way towards the arena, landing in front of Bakugo.

"Get ready to be destroyed, Kirby!" Bakugo declared. Uraraka smirked, cracking her knuckles.

"I don't think so! You'll find that I can give you a run for your money, Pomeranian!"

"The fuck did your mochi ass just call me?!"

"Fight!"

...

Uraraka really kept her word. Using close combat manoeuvers Bakugo has never encountered before, she really did have the blonde panicking and being reckless most of the time.

Shooting his explosions everywhere, Uraraka had managed to exhaust him by burning out his nitroglycerin sweat, and had turned his focus on her against him by tagging chunks of debris created by the explosions.

Releasing the debris, she sent a Meteor Shower towards him, but as she rushed towards him with the opening she create, she didn't expect Bakugo to still have the juice to blast away most of them.

"Man... I almost had you..." Uraraka grunted, her body covered in bruises and wounds from Bakugo's explosions. She did feel lightheaded, but didn't have the usual urge to vomit from overusing her Quirk since she'd improve a lot in its usage.

Bakugo stared at Uraraka, pointing his two open palms at her, having bruises on his face and his lips bleeding. He had a supermassive explosion charged up, ready to blast in case Uraraka tried anything. It was clear that Uraraka had no way of escaping, and one look at her was all Midnight needed to make her decision.

"Winner! Katsuki Bakugo!" Ignoring the cheering, Bakugo walked towards her. Class 1-A sighed, expecting Bakugo to start taunting the defeated Uraraka. They definitely didn't expect him to hold out his hand at her.

"Not bad Kirby... Not bad..." He grinned at her. Uraraka grinned back, gladly shaking his hand.

"She relied too much on that Meteor Shower move of hers." Kamui Woods pointed out, but then continued, as Mount Lady glanced at him.

"But considering the amount of planning, adaptive thinking and patience she showed, I'd definitely pick her as my intern over that Bakugo guy."

Izuku watched from the stands as Uraraka walked back in the concourse, though she smiled sweetly as she waved at the crowd before this, she now had a grim expression on her face.

"Hey! Where are you going?! Your match is coming up!" Denki, having somehow returned from dropping Jiro off at Recovery Girl's office, shouted at Izuku who ran off to who knows where.

" Oh look Todoroki and Sero are next."

...

"Yup... thought so...." Denki grumbled, watching Todoroki being declared the winner of his match between Sero.

Sero was about to actually win by throwing Todoroki out of bounds with his Quirk. But Todoroki fiercely retaliated by freezing him in a humongous pillar of ice, before freeing himself by breaking through the now frozen tape.

"It seems it is our turn." Tokoyami stood up, glancing at Sukuna who sighed, standing up with him. A shadowy, monster-like being named Dark Shadow materialized.

"I'm bouta destroy you!" It shouted, pointing its claw at Sukuna. Sukuna smirked , watching as Tokoyami walked past him, stepping on the metal railing before jumping down without hesitation.

The audience gasped at his stunt, but Tokoyami did it intentionally. Taking advantage of Dark Shadow's ability to float, Tokoyami started flying by having Dark Shadow carry him, along with it opening its hands to increase mobility, replicating a bird's flight.

"I'm telling you guys, he's Batman in secret." Denkk muttered. Kirishima snorted.

"More like Birdman."

Sukuna was about to head down, before Mina suddenly pulled him towards her. He wondered why she did that before he felt something soft on his cheek. Mina smiled as she lightly kissed his cheek, enjoying his surprised reaction before pushing him away.

"Good luck~" Shs waved at him. Sukuna stared at her for a while before shaking his head, a small smile on his face as black markings spread across his body. He leaped towards the arena, landing in front of Tokoyami, cracking his knuckles.

Mina smiled before she noticed that all of Class 1-A was staring at her. She blushed in embarrassment.

"What?! I can't wish him good luck now?!"

"Make up your mind already and just ask him out." Tsuyu grumbled as the others nodded in agreement.

"Yeah, situationships are not good!" Toru added. Mina silently looked back at Sukuna.

"Yeah I know but... how do I even begin to ask... And does he even want a relationship?..."

The class groaned in unison.

...

"Fight!"

Sukuna and Tokoyami stared at each other silently, not making a move. The tension was real, the audience can feel it, until they realized something...

"Oi! It's been three minutes already! Why aren't they moving?!" The audience started getting rowdy, even started booing as Sukuna and Tokoyami haven't moved an inch since the match started.

"Are they seriously playing 'whoever blinks first loses'?" Kirishima mumbled, a little confused at what the two were doing. Momo shook her head.

"No, they're waiting for the clouds to cover the arena."

"Huh? How'd you even guess that?" Denki looked at her weirdly.

"Well, Tokoyami's offensive power depends on the surrounding brightness levels, so if the clouds cover the arena, then it would mean that Dark Shadow would be stronger."

"But why'd Sukuna let him do that instead of finishing the fight quickly like Izuku?" Denki questioned. Momo shrugged.

"I don't know. I can't understand that guy sometimes. Maybe he wants Tokoyami to have a fair shot at him at his fullest, or maybe he just likes to fight."

"Yeah I'm going with the latter..." Kirishima grumbled. A few minutes later, the arena was covered by a massive cloud. Tokoyami's eyes narrowed.

"Witness the Abyss..." Tokoyami muttered as Dark Shadow enveloped his body, covering the upper half, protecting him like a suit of armor. Without a word, both of them charged towards each other.

A giant bang rang across the arena as their wrists clashed. A fierce melee occured, as the audience cheered, finally getting some entertainment.

'I never expected him to be a good close combat fighter, since Tokoyami's always focused on long range attacks with Dark Shadow. Guess a lot has changed since the Battle Trial.' Sukuna thought, dodging a giant claw strike that tore through the ground beneath him.

"And we're back with another fight! This time between the two mysterious fighters, Tokoyami and Sukuna!" Mic announced.

'What the hell is up with your class, Shota?' He asked himself, watching the ongoing fight. Dark Shadow's claws enlarged before clasping them together, slamming downwards at Sukuna who raised both his arms to block it, the ground beneath him cracking from the pressure.

"You're quite something, Dark Shadow." Sukuna commented as Tokoyami retracted the claws, taking a leap back, before using Dark Shadow to launch himself towards Sukuna at high speeds.

Sukuna raised his arms, as he was hit with a massive claw that sent him flying back. He flipped in midair before digging his hands in the concrete, sliding back some more before he stopped.

"I suppose this has gone on long enough." Sukuna muttered, standing up, patting the dust off his clothing. The two of them looked at each other. One look was all it took for the both of them to understand what their next move was.

The two disappeared, rushing towards each other at high speeds as Tokoyami unleashed Dark Shadow at its full power, before channeling the power to his fist.

An explosion like boom tore through the arena as the audience sitting at the from row seats of the stadium held on tightly, as Sukuna and Tokoyami's clash created a shockwave.

"You're good, Tokoyami. But unfortunately, you were paired up with me."

Tokoyami widened his eyes, as a few seconds later he found himself blasting back, flying out of the arena before eventually slamming into the stadium wall painfully.

"I was right.... you are the true darkness of this world...." He muttered as he slid down the wall.

"The hell do you mean..."

"Winner! Ryomen Sukuna!"
