Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 I Witnessed Extreme Horror

Astonishment gripped me. I gave him a questioning but he gave no explanation. I definitely had to query him with words.

Out of blue, two snakes landed on our table. I heard assumably snakes landing on other diners' tables.

Mah slapped one away while I grasped the other. I planned to grasp it by neck to prevent it from biting me. unfortunately i wrongly grabbed it, i grabbed the middle part of the over thirty centimeters-long snake. it might have bitten me if and only if it was not dead. judging from its warmth it might have been boiled.

I heard screams and sounds of chaos. I felt bad that people were going to die. someone devilish tricked us with dead snakes as an instigation to violate the few, clear and easy rules. With high certainty i guessed who that devil might be.

the priest had stood up in fright at the sight of the snakes and was now fighting with the thug. the latter had tried to shoot the priest and the priest had grabbed the gun by the barrel and the thug's hand altogether preventing him from pulling the trigger.

While I considered about joining the fight, the corner men lurched forward. It proved my hypothesis. the snakes had come from their direction.

Not all of them sprang up, the dark shirt man remained on his seat much to the apparent stupefaction of his mates. Dan and the white shirt man had been forced to stop momentary and touched their butts in agony. I took them as cowards for failing to foresee that they would not feel their butts the first few seconds and that would affect their movement. the dark shirt man probably knew. he was cunning, sharp-minded and sly.

When I turned my attention back to the struggle. the priest's face was horribly torn and covered in blood from brutal punches.

Bang!

Bang!

Finally the thug managed to fire twice. the priest, shot on the stomach fell backward to his death.

From behind the thug came the nurse who sprang onto his back. She poured hot soup onto his neck. The thug let out a scream.

Meanwhile, Dan arrived holding a dining knife. He hesitantly stabbed the thug in the stomach. For a moment, it appeared that the thug was going to die.

Suddenly, from behind someone sank a large kitchen knife into the nurse's neck.

I shuddered in horror, everyone was frightened and perplexed.

Blood gushed out drenching everyone nearby including the perpetrator who—to everyone's astonishment—was the waitress.

Dan caught the dying nurse but he died first as the thug shot him point blank in the head. he together with the nurse fell down, him lying on top of her. Her white uniform as well as the waitress' apron completely changed color to dark red.

The thug gazed around with his right hand holding the wound.

The white shirt man stopped in his tracks in despair. He gasped. He casted a glance at the dark shirt man sitting silently and safely. Disbelief and disappointment accumulated in his eyes. He let out a sigh. He slowly turned around and approached the dark shirt man. In an instant, anger could be seen on both his face and in his sharply-increased pace.

"What are you doing?" the dark shirt man cried, sensing the danger. The white shirt man was obviously not approaching with good intentions especially considering the way he gripped the dining knife.

"No!" the dark shirt man screamed as his mate grabbed him by head and utilizing the other hand stabbed him on the neck. again and again. the white shirt man had his teeth gritted and adopted a face of a furious beast as he fiercely butchered his mate. Blood gushed out in sheer volumes to all directions. the dark shirt man was drenched in dark red blood. he stopped the butcher only after he felt he had satisfactory vented his anger. By this time the dark shirt man was long dead.

He gradually turned around and faced the thug. his chest heaved up and down. Then he sluggishly walked towards the thug, his knife dripped blood. Upon reaching our table he paused and looked at me. for a moment, i thought he would stab me.
