I nodded, blinking back the tears that had crept up without warning. His words settled over me like something solid, something I could actually hold onto. I smiled through it as best I could. "Yeah, okay."
I let a beat pass before adding, "I'm thinking of going back during the upcoming holiday."
His brows pulled together. "You haven't fully recovered yet."
"I'm fine now." I looked at him, a little helpless. He had a way of watching over me that felt more like guarding. "I've been resting for two months, Marcus. I can rest just as well in K City. I'll find something low-key, nothing too demanding."
He was quiet for a moment, turning it over. Then he nodded. "Fine. But don't rush the job hunt. I'll sort something out. I have properties in the city too. Once I know where you're working, I'll find you a place nearby."
