Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1

~NAME ON THE LIST

A demon on earth named noah assigned by the goddess of balance and ending who lived herself in human body of a girl who is silent and calm with her heart disease on a hospital bed named Grace knowing that she will be no more on earth with this body.

She assigned noah to collect the the souls of human who are dying just like a grim reaper he get name on list to collect souls. He has powers too. Noah is living like human appears aged 22 yrs but actually a century old also with a handsome face.

He has taken thousands souls before.

Tonight was no different.

The city slept under dim streetlights, hospitals glowing like islands of waiting. Noah stood on the roof of a building opposite Saint Elara Hospital, coat unmoving despite the wind. From here, he could hear the soft hum of machines, the slowing heartbeats, the final breaths that sounded like apologies.

He got a name in a envelope named Freya no last name with cause of a brain tumor. He didn't felt anything and he never does. He has to follow her until her death to take her soul.

He blended into the hospital corridors easily. Humans never questioned him—never noticed him. Nurses passed by, exhausted. A child cried somewhere behind a curtain. The smell of antiseptic hung heavy, mixed with something softer. Hope, maybe. Or denial.

"Freya was not in a bed".

She sat by a window in the neurology ward, knees pulled to her chest, forehead resting against the glass. Her reflection stared back at her, pale but alive. A hospital band circled her wrist loosely, as if it didn't belong there.

She was smiling, her smile made noah stop.

He quitely stared at her smile and glared at her.

People who were close to death rarely smiled like that. They were afraid, or angry, or already half-gone. Freya looked… normal. Too normal.

She turned suddenly, as if she felt him watching.

Their eyes met.

For the first time in centuries, Noah looked away first.

He told himself it meant nothing. Humans looked at him all the time—sometimes directly, sometimes through him. This was no different. He stepped closer, standing near the doorway, invisible to everyone but,

"Do I know you?" she asked.

Her voice was soft. Curious. Not afraid.

Noah did not answer. He was not supposed to speak.

Still, she kept looking at him, like she was waiting for something.

"You look like someone who's lost," she said after a moment.

That was wrong, Noah had never been lost. He knew exactly who he was. Exactly what he was. He turned to leave.

Behind him, Freya spoke again, quieter this time.

"I hope you find your way back."

Something tightened in his chest.

Noah paused just outside the room, one hand brushing the wall to steady himself. He did not understand the sensation. Demons did not feel weight in their lungs. They did not feel echoes of words.

Far above, in a private hospital room with a failing heart and eyes full of knowing, Grace watched the moment unfold.

Because the soul Noah was sent to take

had just seen him. People can't see him if he don't want to but, he let her see him. Why?

And worse—

he did not want to disappear from her sight.👀
