Chapter 48 - Chapter 48 The Verdict

The arena fell into an uneasy silence. The chaos of the Combat Trial had ended, but the echoes of Saksham's control lingered in every corner. Candidates who had survived cautiously approached, their eyes wide with a mixture of fear and awe.

Victor Ravenhart wiped sweat from his brow, scowling but unable to hide a hint of respect. "He… he's on another level," he muttered under his breath, barely meeting Saksham's calm golden gaze.

Elena Frostveil approached next, her silver hair settling around her shoulders. "I… underestimated you," she admitted quietly. "Your control, your observation… it's incredible."

Saksham shook his head slightly, hiding the faint smile tugging at his lips. "It was just strategy," he said softly. "Nothing more."

Archmage Valerian stepped forward from his observation platform, his long robes flowing as he descended the steps. His piercing gaze scanned the arena, lingering on Saksham. The murmurs among the instructors quieted instantly.

"Candidates," Valerian's voice rang clear and commanding. "The Combat Trial was designed to test not only power but judgment, adaptability, and precision under pressure. Many failed because they relied solely on strength. Some survived through skill, but only one has demonstrated exceptional mastery in all areas."

All eyes turned toward Saksham. The boy's calm posture and controlled aura were unmistakable even amidst the fading remnants of elemental hazards.

Valerian's voice lowered slightly, carrying weight. "Saksham Singla… you have not only survived the Ultimate Hazard but have dominated it with precision, foresight, and concealed power. This is a feat rarely seen in even the most advanced students."

Victor stepped forward, tension and admiration mixing in his expression. "So… he's officially the best?" he asked, still catching his breath.

Valerian's gaze flicked toward him sharply. "Do not mistake skill for arrogance. Saksham's mastery is not of brute force but of understanding and control. That is the mark of a true warrior and mage."

Elena nodded slowly, her voice quiet but sincere. "I see now… he's something else entirely. A force we weren't prepared for."
