After Azuma and Illustrious left the Admiral's Villa heading for the harbor,
Ayanami entered the villa, climbed to the second floor, and asked the expressionless Unicorn: "Unicorn, did you secretly add the Sage Elixir I gave you to the Admiral's miso soup?"
Cradling U-chan, Unicorn shyly whispered, "D-don't worry! While Elder Sister Azuma was finishing breakfast, I slipped it into Elder Sister Illustrious's miso soup when I helped carry the dishes. Perfect success."
"Good. Then I can relax," Ayanami said, relieved.
"But is that Sage Elixir really so amazing?" Unicorn asked softly.
The moment someone doubted her creation, Ayanami's usual poker face vanished; she fumed, "What do you mean? You question my Sage Elixir? I infused it with my ghost-god power, and the key ingredient is the 'sister-juice' from us two Ship Girls. Ninety-nine steps refined it to perfection."
Hearing the vital ingredient came from her own body, Unicorn's face flushed crimson. She remembered last night being woken by Ayanami.
Late at night Ayanami had crept into Unicorn's room and shaken her awake.
Groggy, Unicorn jumped at the intruder, thinking it a burglar—then saw Ayanami. "What gives, Elder Sister? Why aren't you asleep?"
Ayanami sighed at her calm. "Wake up—crisis! Tomorrow that sultry witch will steal your beloved Elder Sister Illustrious. You don't want that, right?"
"Isn't it just meeting somewhere?" Unicorn wondered at the fuss.
"Fool! Their 'date' is lovers courting—talking, bonding, falling in love. It's not the casual meeting you imagine."
Ayanami pressed on, painting an even darker picture for Unicorn. "Picture Azuma—so delicate, so lewd—striking eighteen sultry poses to seduce your beloved Illustrious. Your sister's resolve will crumble; she'll turn into a ravening wolf, pounce, and twine herself around Azuma until they're doing… well, things that can't be described."
"Ahh! What do I do?" Unicorn wailed. She hadn't realized a 'date' could mean… that. If it came to pass, how could she ever remain Illustrious's Wife Ship?
Seeing Unicorn finally panic, Ayanami answered unhurriedly, "Relax! I'm brewing a potion I call the Sage Elixir."
The moment the Sage Elixir was mentioned, Ayanami brightened. "It's no ordinary brew. Just as the name implies, if a Ship Girl drinks it, for the next twenty-four hours the instant she even thinks something lewd, she'll enter Sage Mode—utterly indifferent to the world, free of desire, a living 'saint'."
"Once your Illustrious sister downs it, even if Azuma strips naked and stands in front of her, the second a naughty thought pops up she'll switch to Sage Mode and feel nothing—no lust, no interest—just 'saintly' apathy."
"Wow! That's amazing! Hurry and make it!" Unicorn urged.
"There's still one crucial ingredient missing," Ayanami said calmly.
"What ingredient?" Unicorn asked anxiously.
Ayanami's cheeks reddened; even she found it hard to say. She leaned to Unicorn's ear and whispered, "I need the 'sister-juice' of two Ship Girls. You probably don't know—'sister-juice' is the milky fluid a girl produces when she pleasures herself."
"Th-that's such a perverted ingredient!" Unicorn stammered, face scarlet.
"The recipe demands it; I can't change it. Take this glass, go to the washroom, finish quickly, and bring it back. It's all to protect Illustrious's chastity." Ayanami pressed the tumbler into her hand.
"Protect Illustrious's chastity! Protect Illustrious's chastity! Protect Illustrious's chastity!…" Clutching the glass, Unicorn mumbled like a zombie and shuffled into the lavatory.
A moment later, faint, embarrassing sounds drifted out.
Ayanami thought: Am I being too cruel, pushing her like this? But if I asked Azuma she'd get suspicious and the plan would fail.
With a click the door opened. Unicorn's eyes were glazed, her face flushed, her clothes disheveled. She turned away and handed over the glass filled with milky liquid. "I-is that enough?"
Accepting the brimming tumbler, Ayanami blinked. "Plenty! I expected half a glass at most. Don't worry—by tomorrow I'll have the Sage Elixir ready. Slip it into the Admiral's breakfast miso soup and we're set!"
"What? Me, sneak it into Illustrious's soup? N-no way!" Unicorn refused outright; if Azuma found out she'd drugged Illustrious to foil her, the ship-slaying great sword would carve her into chunks.
"Don't refuse yet. As Azuma's mentor I can teach her, but she only listens to what benefits her; anything harmful goes in one ear and out the other. She's impossible to trap." Ayanami sighed.
Swallowing to wet her throat, she continued, "At the crucial moment tomorrow Azuma will watch me like a hawk. You, though, said you wouldn't compete for the Wife Ship seat, so she won't pay you any mind. You can quietly add the Sage Elixir to your sister's miso."
