Chapter 35 - chapter 35:The Pendant's Beat and a Night of Confusion

A week had passed since the group training began.

Every day, I felt satisfied and proud as I watched their improvement. I also got acquainted with that girl who had stumbled previously, named

"Carla."

She was remarkably sweet and possessed a wonderful sense of humor, which made me smile a lot in her presence. Completely matching Klaus in personality and cheerful spirit, so I hope my suspicion hits the mark, and that they are fated mates for each other.

Their abilities had developed tremendously, alongside the flexibility of their bodies, and this truly relieved me. I felt reassured because the probability of them suffering fractures would decrease significantly, and my features reflected satisfaction and professional relief.

However, this relief would dissipate whenever I thought about Zoe.

Her condition was getting worse day by day because of that jerk (Max).

My features would contract with sadness and worry whenever I remembered her. He never came at all, and this confirmed the probability of her rejection and his lack of desire for her, which caused me to feel angry with him.

Zoe was no longer eating well, in addition to having become a bit thin.

My glances carried a lot of sorrow and grief for her.

"She will get sick if she keeps going like this."

I muttered to myself with a heart weighed down with worries. My feelings were torn between pride in the trainees' success and deep concern for the health of my close friend.

As for my relationship with Nate, an unusual coldness had blanketed it; we rarely spoke due to each of us being immersed in our own affairs and work.

This estrangement was gnawing at my heart in silence, and I felt a disturbance that showed in my repeated sighs; for we were no longer as close as we used to be.

"I really miss him."

I confessed to myself with bitterness, while withered features took form on my face and eyes filled with longing. I asked with a lump in my throat:

"Does he miss me too? Or am I the only one drowning in this feeling?"

Suddenly, I felt a warm and sudden heat running through my neck. I checked the matter with my eyes that widened in absolute astonishment, and that astonishment quickly turned into overflowing joy that lit up my whole face.

My pendant had just lit up!

I giggled with overwhelming joy, and my internal scream was about to burst my chest from disbelief; for this light meant only one thing:

He misses me right now!

This was the first time the pendant had lit up since I wore it, so I felt as if butterflies were fluttering in my stomach, and my smile widened until it almost reached my ears.

But I stopped suddenly, and my features froze in a comical shock.

"Wait a second... this means that..."

The smile faded and was replaced by childish panic.

"Eeeahhh! No, no!"

I had just realized that the bond works both ways, and this means that "Nate" had figured me out too, and knew that I had been missing him all along! I started pretending to cry with exaggerated drama, placing my hands on my face with feigned shyness and a funny whine.

My features were a mess of redness and confusion. Anyone seeing me now in this state, as I jumped between joy, regret, and dramatic acting, would surely think my mind had flown from the sheer madness I was inflicting on myself!

I tried to calm my nerves and control my bewildered features before the trainees entered, so that no one would notice the traces of my previous madness.

The day passed with effort and fatigue like any other day, and at its end, while I was about to leave the hall, I felt a small body rush towards me; it was Carla. She hugged me tightly without prior warning.

I returned the hug mechanically, but my facial features were a canvas of pure astonishment, my eyebrows raised in a silent question:

"What is the reason for this sudden hug?"

Carla pulled away from me suddenly, her face burning red with extreme embarrassment.

She started playing with her hair strands with pitiful confusion, so I furrowed my brows in focus, trying hard to predict what she would say.

The words stumbled in her throat as she said:

"I-I.. I wanted to th-thank you for your hard work and efforts with us.. Th-thank you, Luna!"

Upon hearing the sincerity of her words, my harsh features softened instantly, and a warm smile originating from the depths formed on my face.

I patted her head gently, and answered her calmly and with gratitude:

"Mention it not, my dear."

As soon as I stepped out of the hall, my features transformed from warmth to extreme exhaustion; my eyes drooped and my shoulders sagged.

"Damn.. I am wreaked, I'll die of fatigue."

I muttered to myself as I imagined my bed like paradise.

But this moment of peace vanished when I felt the guards tightening their cordon around me as usual.

My facial features spasmed, and my eyes ignited with a burning, hellish anger.

"What kind of cursed protection is this! That damned wolf, I'm really going to kill him!"

I was exhaling my breaths with a suffocating tightness, for the guards were surrounding me to the point that the air couldn't find a path to my lungs.

My features expressed a genuine desire for criminality; I stared at their bulky backs while feeling an overwhelming desire to burn them all, and roast

their king "Nate" on a slow fire in revenge for this mobile prison!

"Finally.. I will get some rest."

I whispered to myself in a voice that was barely escaping from intense exhaustion.

My features were withered, and my eyes were half-closed, but their sparkle returned as soon as my feet stepped onto the main gate of the palace.

I walked with heavy and slightly swaying steps, while imagination painted

"my comfortable bed" as an oasis in the middle of a desert, opening its arms to me and calling me by my name.

There was nothing in my mind except the image of the soft pillow and complete silence.

As I advanced, I caught sight of Klaus standing in the hallway; his features were unusually sharp and stern as he scolded the guards or gave them strict orders.

Beside him was Arien, on whose face expressions of deadly boredom were painted; his eyes wandered into space and his hand was in his pocket, as if he wished for this scene to end.

I didn't care about the two of them, rather I passed by them like a phantom, without bothering to greet them, for all my energy was saved for reaching the suite.

Suddenly, and without prior warning, I felt a strong hand grip my arm firmly, forcing me to stop walking.

My body jerked in surprise, and I turned at lightning speed to see who dared to block my path to the dream world.

The sleepy features vanished instantly and were replaced by a sharp, astonished gaze; it was Klaus.

Klaus wasn't the "cheerful" or "stern" Klaus I had seen seconds ago, but rather he was staring at me with strange and complex glances, a mixture of tension and anticipation, with a clear glimmer of confusion in his eyes that made my heart contract with a question:

"What happened? And why is he holding me like this as if he fears I'll run away?"

His grip was strong enough to tell me that what he was going to say wasn't just casual talk.

Arien intervened sharply, pulling Klaus away from me trying to contain the situation, but Klaus's reaction was shocking; he growled fiercely at Arien in a way that terrified the guards around us, and said in a hybrid voice mixed with his wolf's snarl:

"Don't interfere, Arien.. I'm warning you!"

He turned his gaze back to me, and his eyes were radiating a glowing blue sparkle, a clear sign of his wolf "Cain" taking over the senses.

He approached me with a suspicious slowness; I felt my heartbeats accelerating not out of fear, but from the oddity of the situation.

I didn't retreat an inch, but continued to stare into his eyes with cold curiosity, wanting to explore what was driving him to this madness.

When he reached in front of me, he leaned down and took a deep breath, feeling the scent of my body as if he were searching for a lost trace.

He furrowed his brows with intense focus as he trying to distinguish the scent clinging to me.. And at that moment, my eyes widened in silent surprise; I realized it now! It was Carla's scent that had clung to me when she hugged me a while ago.

"So that's how it is!"

I muttered inwardly, and a cunning side smile formed on my lips, which I quickly erased for a deadly coldness to take over my features.

Klaus finally pulled away from me, blinking in bewilderment, placing his hand on his nose as if trying to regain consciousness.

I crossed my arms over my chest and said in an icy tone:

"Are you done?"

Klaus came to his senses, and began scratching the back of his head with intense confusion and shyness, his face burning red:

"I.. I'm sorry, Cira, Cain acted on his own accord, I don't know what got into him.. I'm really sorry."

He hadn't even finished speaking when Arien's hand landed on his head with a strong blow, scolding him in a loud voice:

"Get a hold of yourself! Can't you curb your wolf, you fool?"

I sighed with deep understanding, for I was the only one who knew the real reason behind "Cain" his madness; he had smelled the scent of his fated mate.

I stepped towards him with calm steps, and he looked as though he was going to thank me for my broad-mindedness, but I cut off his delusions with a punch charged with my energy, targeting his stomach with absolute precision.

The force of the blow threw his bulky body several meters backward, causing him to kneel on his knees while spitting blood from his mouth, pressing his hand against the ground to suppress the pain that made the veins in his neck bulge.

He mumbled weakly:

"Damn it... as if my insides have been shattered!"

I looked at him with completely satisfied features and a cold smile:

"But... don't do it again."

Before I left, I cast a sharp glance at Arien, and he returned it with a tense smile reflecting his anxiety over my sudden madness.

I continued my way toward my room with confident steps, leaving a struggling Klaus behind me grappling with his pain.

As soon as my feet touched the floor of the room, my body completely collapsed; I threw myself onto the bed without possessing an ounce of energy to change my clothes.

Fatigue enveloped my soul like a dense fog, and sleep dragged me into its depths with irresistible speed, until I imagined the bed swallowing me into its embrace.

After what felt like an eternity of silence, my numb senses began to perceive a warm and sudden heaviness mounting me.

I tried hard to open my eyelids, which felt like mountains; I saw his silhouette looming above me, and moonlight was slipping through the window to illuminate his features with an overwhelming silver halo, turning the room into an arena of dreams.

I caught sight of a playful, cunning, and attractive smile forming on his lips as he watched my surrender.

I felt the touch of his finger passing with extreme gentleness over my lips, which had parted slightly due to my calm breathing.

My vision was blurry, and my mind was fighting a losing battle against the reign of sleep, so I thought I was drowning in my most beautiful fantasies.

At that moment, his distinct and overpowering scent overwhelmed me; a breath-taking mixture of strong coffee and dark chocolate.

That warm scent penetrated deep into my core, and a soft smile formed on my face, full of serenity and contentment, as I thought my subconscious mind was rewarding me with this luxurious "dream" after an exhausting day.

And with the same calmness with which I opened my eyes, I closed them again, surrendering to the delicious coma of sleep, unaware that those close breaths and attractive scent were not an illusion, leaving behind a "harasser" man violating the privacy of my sleep, reveling in watching my calm features under the moonlight amidst the scent of coffee that filled the place.

I began to regain consciousness slowly, and my facial features wrinkled with childish annoyance because something was messing with my hair strands with provocative gentleness.

My head was resting on a hard cushion that nevertheless pulsed with warmth; instead of waking up, I buried my face deeper into that cushion trying to return to sleep, and felt a strange surge of heat beginning to flow through the place.

I furrowed my brows in silent questioning, and opened my eyes with extreme sluggishness to be met by pitch blackness.

I peered for a few moments until the shock registered; it was a shirt!

"Damn it..."

I whispered it internally as I raised my face very slowly, for my eyes to meet his.

To my surprise, his face was a little far from me, but I was stretched out entirely on top of him! He gazed at me with that malicious smile I both despise and adore at the same time, and his eyes were drowned in a drugged and strange look..

"What's wrong with this fool?"

I wondered as panic began to creep into my limbs.

I braced my hands on what I thought was the bed in order to get up and end this embarrassing situation, but he suddenly groaned and closed his eyes tightly, gripping my waist to hold me firmly in place.

Whenever I tried to pull away, his muffled groans increased, and his cheeks ignited with a light redness I had not seen before, while his chest began to rise and fall violently due to his breaths becoming scorching as they brushed my face.

I was watching his features in astonishment:

"What on earth is happening to him?"

He said in a husky voice struggling to suppress something:

"Damn it... don't move... Cira!"

With absolute foolishness, I didn't listen to his suspicious warning, and began moving erratically and madly trying to straighten up, pressing with all my strength against a hard "protrusion" under my hand thinking it was part of the bed frame to lift myself up.

At that moment, he tightened his grip on me, pulling me back to my place, and the redness of his face increased frighteningly as he bit his lower lip with agonizing and confusing pleasure.

Suddenly, with a flash of realization, I noticed that I wasn't on top of his chest... but had slipped so that my hands were over his abdomen and slightly below that.

I felt a clear rigidity under the grip of my hand, so I swallowed hard and looked down... and I wish I hadn't looked!

I froze in place as if a thunderbolt had struck me; I was holding onto

his "manhood"

And pressing on it with all my strength! I completely froze, and felt my face ignite to the extent that I imagined my ears would whistle from the intensity of boiling heat.

I screamed at the top of my lungs, let go of that thing as if I had touched burning embers, and pulled back madly to fall off the bed and crash hard onto the floor.

I was lying on the floor, my breath knocked out, my eyes wide with absolute astonishment, failing to comprehend the crime my hands had just committed, while my heart beat the drums of war from the intensity of catastrophic embarrassment.

"Damn it... damn it... damn it!"

I repeated it like a desperate spell as I straightened up at lightning speed, trying to escape his gaze and that situation which was enough to kill me with shame.

I tripped with my trembling legs and fell to the ground, so I began swearing with every kind of curse my memory stored, crawling toward the dressing room like a defeated soldier fleeing the battle.

I slammed the closet door shut behind me, making an echo in the room, and leaned against it panting.

I placed my hand on my heart which was pounding against my chest violently, squeezing the fabric in its place tightly as if trying to calm it down.

I began pretending to cry with exaggerated dramatic sobbing, scolding myself in a low voice:

"Why don't I listen? Why? He tried to warn me, but like hell, I didn't care!"

I started pulling at my hair madly, thrashing around in my place with annoyance at my own foolishness, and my face was still burning with a heat that made me feel as though fire was escaping from my pores.

Suddenly, silence prevailed, and then I heard a deep sigh coming from outside.

Curiosity overcame my shyness; I opened the door slightly, a tiny crack barely visible, to spy on what he was doing.

I saw him lying on the bed, staring blankly at the ceiling, then I saw that smile form on his mouth.

It quickly turned into muffled laughter that made his body twitch in response to my embarrassing memory.

He suddenly stopped, and with a quick and surprising movement, his pupils turned directly toward the door crack where I was standing! My body shuddered in terror, and I retreated backward so fast I bumped into the shelves behind me.

"Damn it! Did he see me?"

My heart was about to drop into my stomach from sheer fear.

"No... impossible!"

I tried to convince myself, but I was entirely certain that his sharp eyes had penetrated my hiding place.

I let out a silent, muffled scream:

"Eeeahhh! I'm really going to lose my mind!"

And I grabbed my hair again, realizing that my dignity had been completely crushed under the gaze of that cunning wolf.

I gathered the scattered pieces of myself with difficulty, stood up to gather my clothes while staring at the closet door with suffocating confusion.

"And now... how am I going to go out and face him?"

I wondered while the heat still resided in my cheeks.

I sighed sorrowfully at my bad luck, and reached my trembling hand toward the knob as if opening a gateway to hell.

I opened the door very slowly, and peeked my head out cautiously like a turtle checking its surroundings, casting my gaze around the room.

The bed was empty, and there was no trace of him. A wave of strange relief washed over me, and I exhaled a long breath I had been holding in my chest.

I stepped out with somewhat confident steps, closing the door behind me thinking I had escaped my deed.

But my shock was an earthquake; as soon as I turned around, I found him leaning against the wall right beside the door, gazing at me with piercing eyes and a faint, charming smile.

A piercing scream erupted from the depths of me:

"Aaaah! Nate! You scared me!"

I jumped in place from sheer terror, placing my hand on my heart which was about to leave its place.

Strangely, he didn't budge an inch, and didn't even blink, while his composure was provocative to the utmost degree.

And his smile widened further, a smile dripping with malice and cunning, confirming to me that he was enjoying every moment of embarrassing and teasing me.

His eyes were shining with a playful twinkle telling me he knew exactly what was going on in my mind.

I retreated at a crazy speed, as if fleeing from a predator cornering its prey, and headed toward the bathroom with stumbling steps.

I felt his gaze following me and mocking my confusion, so I went in and slammed the door shut behind me hard, as if taking shelter in a fortress from his provocative curse that robs me of my composure every time we meet.

After a warm bath that stripped away some of the tension of the embarrassing confrontation, I came out feeling my wet hair, and scanned the room but didn't find him.

"I suppose he finally went to work."

I muttered to myself with a sigh blending relief and a slight longing.

Suddenly, the appetizing aroma of food permeated my nose; it was a rich scent that awakened my dormant senses.
