Chapter 8 - Bad mood

Rocky smirked as all the trolls were terrified by the ancient ape

Now, there were no monsters in the dungeon to dare to fight with his beast.

Bobby just stood lazily by rock, not intending to chase other monsters, which meant he didn't want to kill them anymore.

He summoned the system screen to check Bobby's current mood and preferred mana cores.

Name: Bobby

Race: Ancient Ape

Compatibility: 100%

Species Rank: Calamity

Level: 12

Unique Skill: Basic Swordsmanship, Void Forging, Aura of Predator

Current Preferred Mana Core:[ None]

Current Mood: wants to punish bastards insult his master

As soon as he dismissed the system screen, his expression darkened when a mocking voice rang out from afar.

Three guys stood there—and one of them was someone Rocky knew very well.

Alex Stephens.

"Tch. I didn't expect a trash beast tamer to be able to raise a beast at all. Picking trolls to fight? What a stupid idea," Alex said with a scornful tone.

Yet his face quickly twisted in disbelief when he sensed Bobby's level.

"Level 12?"

The three of them shared the same thought.

How could that be?

Clearly, their beasts had killed plenty of monsters in the dungeon, deliberately choosing hunting zones filled with strong ones to level up as quick as possible.

There was no way that fur ape had only run around and swum through the dungeon and somehow surpassed their beasts.

Unless… Rocky was actually a genius at raising beasts.

They knew that possibility existed—but it didn't fit Rocky at all. To them, he was nothing more than a completely useless trash tamer.

"Don't worry. Everyone knows how weak beasts from the black zone are. I bet that ape only looks strong. Knowledge from books is never wrong—don't get distracted by some new race," one of the three said, his face full of confidence and mockery.

Alex nodded, a clear sneer forming on his lips.

"It's obvious."

The three beasts leapt down from their shoulders, their bodies rapidly expanding.

Soon, the beasts' stats appeared in front of Rocky.

"Attack!" the guy yelled, commanding the aquatic snake to shoot a series of water bullets, each one strong enough to pierce even the toughest rock.

Of course, if those bullets hit a real body, it would be torn apart instantly.

Yet Bobby just stood there, indifferent, ignoring those feeble blows as if they were nothing more than raindrops hitting his armor.

"No way…" the aquatic snake's master muttered in shock. It was hard to believe that a beast from the black zone could withstand his beast's attack without taking any damage.

But Bobby didn't stop. He activated [Aura of Predator], releasing a bizarre aura that engulfed his enemies.

Half a second later, the three beasts showed clear signs of fatigue, and the snake collapsed on the spot.

That was understandable—the snake had a lower species rank than the others.

Alex shouted, confidence clearly etched on his face.

"No need to worry. My beast will deal with that weak ape. It's already at full power—unlike the last match."

He glanced at his companions, giving them a subtle signal, a silent plan passing between them.

The fire bird flew in midair, relentlessly shooting fireballs toward Bobby like a machine gun—punching hundreds of holes into the ground around him, burning everything to ash.

Not only that, the gilded bull quickly rushed forward, directing its sharp horns at Bobby. Its only intention was to kill that ancient ape.

But at the very moment the distance closed to just one meter, a gauntleted hand stretched out from the raging flames, catching the gilded bull by the throat and lifting it up, as if it were nothing more than an inferior insect.

Bobby's eyes gleamed sharply beneath the grated helmet, making the gilded bull shiver in terror. With a final glare, Bobby tightened his grip, causing the bull to writhe in pain. Time by time, Alex's beast showed clear signs of death, yet Bobby had no intention of sparing it.

Even when the fire bird's fireballs struck Bobby's body, they only made him angrier.

The first beast died.

"Hahahahaha! You must die!" Alex screamed, swinging his sword toward Rocky. His face twisted with madness, completely unconcerned about his dead beast. Either way, he had a more important mission—to kill Rocky in secret. He would do anything, even if his beast died.

Rocky merely raised an eyebrow at Alex's incoming strike, yet he stood completely motionless.

The next moment, when the blade was just 50 centimeters from him, his body was instantly blanketed in pure black armor, deflecting the attack. Not allowing Alex a moment to breathe or recover from the surprise, Rocky delivered a gauntleted punch to Alex's face in the blink of an eye.

Rocky's punch was so powerful that it sent Alex skidding across the ground before crashing into a nearby tree.

He passed out.

Rocky glanced at Bobby, who was gripping the snake with both hands and whipping it nonstop against the hard ground, unclear whether it was dead or not. Nearby, the fire bird had been pinned to a tree by Bobby's longsword, blood dripping onto the ground and filling the air with the scent of iron.

"BASTARD!"

They rushed forward, directing their killing intent at Rocky.

Yet the first guy died on the spot as a spark of light flashed through the air.

Rocky swung his sword midair before stopping abruptly, wiping out blood left in sword, sending a wave of death toward the others. The last student staggered and fell to the ground, eyes wide with terror as he witnessed Rocky's absolute power.

"I-If you kill me, the academy will expel you for killing a classmate." The guy's face twisted in despair as he said everything he could to save himself at that moment.

Then, the next moment, he showed a disdainful expression when Rocky put the sword back into its sheath.

(Yes. You should do it, useless trash. Once I leave the dungeon, I'll report you for killing our beasts. Once you get expelled, we're gonna kill you.)

Rocky sighed and shrugged his shoulders.

"That's right. I won't kill you… but they will."

Rocky turned around, commanding his beast to shrink down before jumping onto his shoulder.

This place belonged to the trolls. Under Bobby's presence, they had retreated, but once Bobby disappeared, they would return to their lair.

And now, with their beasts gone, the students were nothing more than powerless prey, meant to feed the trolls.

"Ajasdhahdajsh!" a troll screamed, calling its fellows back to their territory. Soon, a horde of trolls surrounded the area.

The student stared at them with a colorless face, then collapsed, screaming and sobbing in fear and agony.

From that day on, three students were listed as lost, the cause stated as: invading the territory of trolls—a banned area in a low-grade green dungeon.
