No POV:
The courtyard was quiet.
It was deathly silent.
The only sounds that could be heard were the chilling breeze that hit the crumbled walls of the temple and the occasional growls from the Demon Soilders summoned earlier.
Hayley raised her hand and, like a command the growling stopped. The soilders—like a platoon marched to her sides—some standing in front seemingly waiting for her to say something.
'Impressive' Drex thought.
Yuri however, stood still in his stance; still smiling eagerly waiting to see what would happen next.
The next moment, Hayley pointed towards the sky then slowly lowered her hand in Yuri's direction.
"Move."
In an instant, the horde started sprinting towards Yuri who was more than excited to approach the demons.
'All that wasn't necessary... She wasted so much time only for her to say one word... What? Is she trying to aura farm or something?' Drex scoffed.
To him, all that wasn't called for. She could've just pointed at him immediately and give the order but she chose to look cool.
If this was a novel, that alone had wasted precious paragraphs...
Yuri charged at the horde and started swinging and slicing. His tendrils making light work on some of the devils. They were fast and moved like pests but he couldn't deny the fact that he was enjoying himself.
A large part of the courtyard was soon covered in blood as Yuri spun his tendrils like a helicopter blade, eviscerating half of the soilders.
Eighteen...
That was the limit of how many soilders Hayley could summon at the moment.
And with Yuri killing half of them, they remained 9.
Yuri was so caught up with the horde in front of him that he failed to notice Hayley in the air right about him and by the time he could sense her presence, he was a second too late.
**BOOM**
Hayley's fists made contact squarely into Yuri slamming both of them on the ground. Dust erupted obscuring the visions of everyone present.
'Damn' Drex thought, coughing while trying to adjust his vision.
When the dust cleared, Yuri stood, bleeding and trying to catch his breath.
This was the first time in a long while he had been injured to this degree.
He was ecstatic...
Without a moment to spare, he dashed towards Hayley and her army locking them in a vicious exchange of blows. Hayley and the army worked in synchronized movements as if they had practiced for a day like this before.
Hayley — taking advantage of Yuri's injury seemed to be having the upper hand.
"Of course she'd be winning. He's Injured and having a hard time keeping up." Drex scoffed.
[Who's side are you on?] Hades, who had been silent until now spoke.
"That's not even a question. I just don't like it that she has a cheat ability like that."
[Oh? You dislike it or you're just scared since you know that the day would come where you'd be forced to fight each other?] Hades teased causing Drex flinched after hearing this.
"Huh??! It's not about that at all! Like I said, She has a cheat ability while I'm stuck with you!"
[Awww c'mon... We both know you're loving every second of this. VIP access to someone as alluring as thou. Boys your age would kill to be in your shoes you know?]
"Ugh."
**BOOM**
The sound promoted Drex to look forward. There, he saw Hayley across the courtyard — her boots skidding across the stone floor in an attempt to stop.
One of the demon army saw this and vaulted another one towards her direction. The second one—understanding the situation stretched its hands towards her. When their arms met Hayley was shot forward with incredible force leaving a trail of dust behind her. In an instant, she kicked Yuri hard in his chest causing him to fly into the wall next to where Drex stood.
Yuri— paying no attention to Drex flew forward. And continued his onslaught with futile attempts to strike back at Hayley. Unfortunately, the presence of her army did not allow any damage near her.
Visibly annoyed, Yuri decided to focus on the small group of undead devils instead in order to shake her defenses.
Catching one of them with his tendrils, he squeezed.
**Splat**
The devil was torn to shreds leaving bits of its body lying around. Its head fell and rolled towards where Drex stood promoting him to look down at the sight in front of him. Its head was cracked open, it was missing an eye and the other one was bashed in.
Without saying a word, Drex turned around and moved to another corner.
"Shit.." By now, Hayley was down to one soilder. She was slightly surprised that Yuri risked being hit in exchange for killing one of her soilders. Over and over he repeated the tactic seven more times leaving her with only one and said remainder didn't even have arms no more.
Yuri was fast. Using a tendril to cut the remaining soilder in half before finally heading for Hayley.
Hayley tried to step back but was too late.
**BIFF**
A punch. Straight to her gut.
The force was strong enough to lift her in the air, leaving her disoriented.
Yuri wasted no time with a follow up delivered an axe kick to the side of her face. Sending her tumbling across the floor.
'Talk about gender equality.' Drex thought.
Hayley tried to gather her bearings but she was whipped with a tendril. Searing pain shot through her entire body as she flew into the wall, staining it with some blood.
"That's a bit much don't you think? Need help?". Drex hurried over to his bleeding captain and hunched next to her.
Hayley who finally had a moment to catch her breath wiped the excess blood from her mouth and stood up. Drex sighed and stepped aside—knowing that her pride wouldn't allow her to receive the help he was offering.
"It's your funeral..." He said walking back to his corner.
Hayley stood and took a deep breath. She smoothed her disheveled hair and looked towards Yuri.
Yuri on the other hand waited in place. He had the courtesy of giving his opponent time to recover before giving them another round of a thorough beating.
"I didn't want to do this yet..."
Yuri raised an eyebrow.
'what is she monologuing about?'
The ground beneath her glowed—a pentagram forming in its place.
Her eyes started to glow again....
~~~~~
Nine years...
It had been nine years since Hayley was diagnosed with SOS...
Within that period, she had been committed to learning about the Ghost Devil. She did research, read manuscripts and even gathered information on its past contractors.
Interestingly, all two previous contractors had one thing in common: They were interested in paranormal activity.
Though the situations that led to them meeting the Ghost Devil varied, it still meant that their love for the supernatural was a determined factor — something that Hayley herself possessed.
Through her studies, she realized that her ability had the power to summon lesser devils that were killed off and amplifying them with her Devil Energy boosting their innate abilities.
She also found out that through adequate training, she would be able to summon the Four Great Beasts—or the Undead Generals as it was dubbed by the DCA.
The Generals were beasts who roamed the earth before the Amargeddon, said to be subdued by the Ghost Devil , Bhuta himself.
They were the Beast of Fire, Dabbal. The Beast of Water, Mora. The Beast of the Earth, Aggan and the Beast of the Air, Ajunn.
If a person's Devil Energy was sufficient, they could be able to resurrect one or all of these Beasts.
Hayley's eyes were aglow.
'What's she trying to pull this time?' Drex wondered.
Hayley's devil energy flared again; this time the ground shook and the pentegram widened.
With one final breath, she commanded...
"Aggan!"
