Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The ground bears the weight of every footstep, until it breaks

Kao Dao Ji palmed his own forehead.

For a brief moment, he could not help but regret bringing such useless people in his aperture.

He blinked several times, trying to think of an idea.

With his enhanced mind, in a fraction of a second his gaze regained its sharpness.

He coughed dramatically, to bring the attention of everyone.

"I am glad that you have decided to join me, and I also appreciate your enthusiasm." He replied with a polite smile in his face.

Until his smile dropped.

"While I would love nothing more than to stay here, and celebrate alongside you."

I am as of now, currently burdened with the need of managing my aperture, so the presentations, will remain short.

Also." His gaze darted towards Kao Qian Hangse.

"Among all the people who have come here, I do believe your resolve is the greatest.

Considering your compromise and determination, I've decided to arrange you as the 'manager' of human-

Featherman resources."

Kao Qian Hangse stared at him puzzled at his words, he tilted his head lightly.

"My lord, forgive me. My comprehension is lacking, what do you mean with 'Featherman Resources?'

"

Kao Dao Ji smiled.

"It just means that you will be managing the local population of Featherman in my behalf."

Kao Qian Hangse stared at him bewildered.

Such a great task had been entrusted to him so early?

Even he who had decided to bet everything could not expect that he would catch the attention of the Immortal so easily.

His heart began to beat faster.

Could this be his Immortal opportunity?

Whilst Kao Dao Ji touched his chin thinking.

"To be honest, I am not really sure if he will do a good job. But; I brought those people here, to not drive myself to insanity. So as long as I can get rid of the burden of managing them is fine.

Of course, I could let them roam free and work on their own, but…" He observed at them again, before shaking his head.

However.

While he was immersed in his thoughts, he suddenly heard a woman speak.

"Hey! Its not fair, why does he get to rule above us all simply because he was a good bootlicker? He got here the same time as us, and his Cultivation is not any better than mine."

Kao Dao Ji raised his eyebrows and said.

"Is that so?" He closed his eyes.

"I do believe that is unfair yes, but someone needs to be put in charge, for there to be order.

Of course, that does not mean he will manage you forever.

I will be observing you, and recording your merits.

At the end of every year, I will be selecting the one with most merit among group 1, and they will be the leader." Kao Dao Ji kept talking in the politest tone he could manage.

While that seemed unbecoming of an Immortal, Featherman were not so easy to deal with.

Using power to suppress them was almost pointless, they desired freedom and hated hierarchies.

While one could use power and the fear of death to subdue them, it was a flawed approach, even if they dared not to fight, they would still sabotage and act in ways to suppress their oppressors.

"Of course, that is not to say Featherman are entirely impossible to control, while they hate following orders and having their 'freedom' revoked.

They value deeply their own word and promises.

The best way to move them is to give them a deal sweet enough that they do not want to refuse." Kao Dao Ji sighed inwardly.

The fickle natures of Featherman while it prevented tyrants from taking hold, it also made them very decentralized, their power often being at the bottom of variant humans.

Only in rare instances where they had exceptional geniuses born, could they change their destiny.

"Sigh. Now I see why Kao Yu Hun spoke about slaves before."

While rare, certain Featherman were born with an even more fervent desire for freedom than most.

So great that the freedom of others would be trampled, even without power, they would behave erratically, disregarding all laws.

Such people were often incarcerated.

In some instances, they were disposed of, in others, they employed a Gu or two to 'suppress' and limit their problematic behavior.

But in some instances, they were turned into slaves.

Those were the same slaves Kao Yu Hun spoke about, they were brainwashed by a few Gu's, and forced to work.

Those slaves could either gain their freedom again if they contributed enough, or could be pardoned if the family paid the relevant fee.

But in most instances, they ended up dying from overworking.

Kao Dao Ji frowned.

If even most Immortals found difficult to make most Featherman behave, just how could he solve this dilemma?

….

Uru Hong Jing laughed heartily.

 He stretched his arms widely.

"If I am not mistaken, you do not kill, do you?" Uru Hong Jing spoke teasingly, yet his gaze carried a certain fierceness.

Once more he charged towards Qiao Yun.

Le Tu stared at him with cold sweat in his forehead.

There was simply no way to get in time!

He gritted his teeth, without any other choice he shouted.

"The ground bears the weight of every footstep!" In that precise moment, there was a resonance.

A soft golden wave was shoot everywhere, spreading towards Uru Hong Jing and Qiao Yun.

And at the next moment, Uru Hong Jing pierced with his red-skeletal armor at Qiao Yun's chest, and yet.

There was a clicking sound, as if the red skeletal armor had touched solid steel, the skin and flesh of Qiao Yun did not budge in the slightest.

Qiao Yun raised his middle and index finger, shooting yet another ray of light towards Uru Hong Jing, who retreated rapidly confused at the situation.

"Just how could he remain unaffected?" He wondered, but then turned his attention towards Le Tu.

Who was coughing blood, and whom had a piercing wound reaching towards his chest.

Le Tu touched his stomach, soil had taken hold and was patching the hole within his body.

Uru Hong Jing tilted his head, somewhat puzzled.

"A Killer Move to transfer the harm of others towards oneself?" He muttered.

While possible in theory, he had never imagined one person would create such a selfless move, especially an Immortal.

For a brief moment, profound respect appeared in his expression.

Before it was replaced with a tiny smile.

"So, I attack the weak, and yet I harm the strong?" Those thoughts appeared in his head.

With such a simple mechanism, he could easily get rid of the two.

Uru Hong Jing stared at Le Tu and said.

"I commend your conviction to your own aspirations, but there are times where it is mistaken.

By now you should understand, your chances of defeating me, are null.

You are still in time to surrender."

But Le Tu merely shook his head.

He smiled bitterly and said.

"I appreciate your kindness. But I cannot do it. Not now."

"Farewell, your funeral." Uru Hong Jing closed his eyes yet again.

Once more, the eyes resonated again.

[Turn an Eye Blind]

The damage was transferred to Le Tu who screamed in agony, using that chance.

Uru Hong Jing smiled at Qiao Yun.

"Now…To claim victory, I only need to confirm one thing…" He thought to himself, narrowing his eyes slightly.

But before anybody could take notice.

They returned to normality.

Straightforwardly, he charged towards Qiao Yun.

An explosive battle begun, beam collided against beam, flashy lights, intense colors.

During this short confrontation, Le Tu also stepped a few times, trying to use his moves to seal and hinder Uru Hong Jing with little success.

6 minutes later.

Le Tu's body was completely covered in wounds.

Whilst Uru Hong Jing's body was completely flawless, not a single strike had reached his body.

He was grinning.

Qiao Yun snorted coldly.

"I will wipe that smile out of your face!" He shouted frustrated, once more unleashing a powerful beam of light towards him.

Uru Hong Jing smiled tilting his head slightly, but contrary to before, he did not avoid entirely the blow.

Only superficially.

During this period, he also was observing Le Tu's body perfectly.

A wide smile appeared in his face.

Despite being grazed by the move, no wound appeared in his body, at the contrary Le Tu was the one who was hurt.

In this precise instant, his excitement reached its peak.

"As expected, This move was activated by a wave that surrounded everyone, not just Qiao Yun, while I was not sure before, now I am certain, no matter who receives damage Le Tu is the one who suffers it in their stead!" He smirked.

Cancelling a Killer Move surely would take time no matter how few, especially one of such characteristics.

Furthermore, he had purposefully done things in such a way, that it was rather unlikely that Le Tu would be able to uncover his intentions right away.

Thus.

Using this precious chance, he ruthlessly turned his glance towards his own lungs.

And used his laser eyes to pierce through them entirely!

Yet to his absolute bewilderment, the damage had not been transferred.

"What?" He muttered confused.

Whilst Le Tu smiled in response.

Indeed. His move had that weakness in which all the damage would be redirected towards himself, but that was not such a huge flaw in reality.

Why? Because this Killer Move was in reality a Killer Move with two phases.

[The ground bears the weight of every footstep, ]

[Until it breaks!]

And so.

The aura retracted itself.

Le Tu's palm began to shine with golden colors.

And then.

The force of every impact that he had endured until now, was brought in full motion towards Uru Hong Jing!

Uru Hong Jing gritted his teeth, immediately he closed his eyes to avoid the impact.

And yet to his bewilderment, he realized that the palm could still touch him.

The palm upon reaching his body tightened into the form of a grip, dragging him towards the deep mountains at thunderous speed.

And yet, surprisingly despite this overwhelming speed, his body received no harm.

But Uru Hong Jing had no time to feel relief, for he realized another thing.

A certain Qi began to resonate across the deep mountains.

"A Formation?" His pupils shrank.

The mountain split in two, opening a 'mouth' from which his body was pulled into.

And once it did, it closed.

Burying the man inside.

Uru Hong Jing screamed; his aura surged as he tried to resist.

Le Tu pressed his palms together, reinforcing the Formation with the power of earth path.

One minute later.

He finally took a deep sigh.

Finally, Uru Hong Jing had been sealed.
