"Axel…"
Lois nervously gripped Axel's bicep, her eyes wide and pleading.
Seeing her gaze, Axel let go of her shoulder—and then, without warning, slapped her swollen backside again.
Whack!
"Axel!!!"
Tears welled up instantly. Lois covered her bottom with both hands, her teeth nearly chattering.
Axel held his hand up, gesturing twice, a mischievous grin on his face.
"Feels good," he said.
"You…" Lois gasped, but Axel interrupted with a laugh.
"Enough drama. Let's eat. A man's a man of his word—if I say you're treating, you treat. After this, you go back to Metropolis, I go back to Gotham. And remember this, Lois—the first person to ever slap your backside wasn't anyone else… it was me, Axel! Hahahaha!"
He laughed heartily as he insisted Lois lead him to a Mexican restaurant. Pulling out a weapon to motivate the hidden owner, Axel made sure the food was served. He ate casually and downed two bottles of draft beer like it was nothing.
Meal finished, Axel led her outside and raised his hand toward her.
"No!!!"
Lois jumped aside, startled. Axel chuckled twice, then spotted a Land Rover nearby.
"Alright, that's enough for today. If there's a next time, I'll treat you again. For now… I'm off."
With that, he strode toward the Land Rover. Lois, still processing, gasped repeatedly.
"So… you came all this way, killed all those people, just for a Mexican meal?"
"Otherwise?" Axel shrugged. "It's not your first time, and you're not my type anyway. I prefer the cat type—sassy, playful. You? Too proper. We just don't… mix, haha!"
He swaggered across the street, following the trail of blood to the Land Rover. A Seal team member raised his gun. Axel, unfazed, grabbed the muzzle and pressed it to his bare chest.
"Buddy, let's make a bet. If you can't take me down even emptying your magazine, the car's mine. I don't want to drive a BMW without keys back to Gotham—too embarrassing."
The soldier hesitated, then made a small gesture of agreement.
Just as he was about to fire, Axel delivered a brutal elbow strike, smashing the M14 into two pieces. The impact dislocated the soldier's arms. Axel grabbed his bulletproof vest.
"You actually fired, idiot! Didn't you realize I was joking?"
He threw the soldier aside and grabbed another Seal near the car.
"Keys. Hand them over. So many people have died already—what's one more broken car?"
The second Seal gulped, scrambled to his fallen comrade, and returned with the Land Rover keys. Axel accepted them with a satisfied nod, patting the soldier's shoulders.
"See? The capable acquire it, Buddy."
He climbed into the car and drove off toward Gotham, following the navigation.
Lois, still in front of the restaurant, blinked in disbelief. She then rushed toward her father. General Lane had been taken to the dental clinic and had occupied the bed she had slept in. By the time she arrived, he was awake, eyes full of guilt.
"What… did he say?"
"He didn't say much—mostly talked about Gotham. Rarely answered my questions. But… he asked a lot about the Wayne family. A crazy guy like him will probably set his sights on the tallest Wayne Tower next."
Lois sat cautiously beside her father's plaster-wrapped legs.
"Hiss!!!" She jumped suddenly, holding her backside.
General Lane's eyes widened, reddening instantly.
"Ugh! Dad, don't faint! I'm fine. That guy isn't interested in me—he just has a twisted sense of humor. I profiled him while we talked. He's not mentally ill, just… sees life as a game with him as the only player. Considering his abilities, he's probably justified in thinking that way. And that's the scary part!"
Her father clutched her hand, eyes watery.
"Don't mention him again… Axel is a monster, a devil sent by God! You shouldn't work near Metropolis anymore. I'll contact your boss and have you transferred abroad—somewhere far from Gotham, like the South or North Pole! He's going to cause a massive mess. Luckily, my leg is broken, so I need time to heal. That Amanda… let her deal with Axel. I want to see how that ends!"
He lay back, grimacing.
Axel… the man. Could anyone truly deal with him?
Meanwhile, in Gotham City, Liv paced restlessly in the club.
Selina, sipping red wine, handed her phone to Liv.
"Darling, I think I found the man you've been looking for."
"Really?" Liv snatched the phone, eyes glued to the short video: "Metahuman Battle in Smallville!"
The footage was shaky, filmed from afar, but the impact was clear: a shirtless figure slammed another hundreds of meters away, crushing a thick tree and toppling a rockery.
Liv exhaled slowly, putting down her phone. "There are videos about metahumans online, but this one… it's gone viral. In twenty minutes, fifteen million views."
Selina chuckled, crossing her legs. "The big shots are definitely on his trail. Not surprising—he can defy death. That's an ability no one can refuse."
