Chapter 216 - Chapter 216: The Curse of the Steering Wheel

Exusiai was feebly arguing with her friends that there was nothing wrong with her driving skills; it was simply a case of terrible luck this time.

Come to think of it, this was already the second time she had encountered an "act of God"! Moreover, both times had happened while she was behind the wheel. What on earth was going on?

"Actually... Exusiai, there was no way you were escaping that accident. Even if you had continued driving normally, looking at the situation, you wouldn't have had enough time to make that sharp turn."

Texas, sitting in the passenger seat, added a timely "stab" to the huffy Exusiai. Even if she hadn't fallen into that dazed state, she wouldn't have been able to escape the fate of that traffic accident!

Hearing Texas's words, Exusiai pondered for a long while before saying somewhat indignantly:

"I could have made a turn of that caliber perfectly! I might drive a bit aggressively usually, but I still have total confidence in my technical skills!"

Exusiai truly believed in her driving; before these incidents, she always ensured the absolute safety of everyone in her vehicle.

"Don't worry about it so much, the car isn't in that bad of shape anyway! It's just a broken headlight. Besides, aren't we all perfectly fine?" Croissant chimed in from the back. After all, anyone can run into a minor accident while driving; it was just that those reporters loved to splash it all over the news the moment they saw them crash.

"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't have even scratched that headlight! In a few days, once I'm sure this won't happen again, I'm going back to that intersection to prove my skills!"

While talking, Exusiai drove the car back to their residence. The first thing they saw was Jeanne and Lemuen's car—it was shot to pieces, looking like it had just rolled off a battlefield.

This incredibly sturdy vehicle was now riddled with pits from enemy attacks. Some spots had been shot clean through, and both side mirrors had been blasted off.

"What happened? Did your sister run into a mob on the way? What kind of mob has enough firepower to tear a car apart like this?"

Croissant looked at the expensive vehicle that now resembled a honeycomb. She was baffled—which gang in the Lower City had they provoked to be hunted with such intensity? Looking at the damage, Croissant felt that instead of towing it for repairs, it might actually be cheaper to just buy a brand-new car.

What happened?! How did a single trip turn the car into this? I hope neither of them is hurt.

Exusiai thought to herself, her eyes filled with worry as she stared at the vehicle. The combat damage suggested that the enemies her sister and Jeanne faced were not easily dealt with. She was terrified they might have sustained serious injuries. One was her sister, and the other was the Saintess—Exusiai didn't want to see either of them with even a scratch.

Besides, Jeanne was the Saintess! If something truly happened to her in Lungmen, Exusiai suspected the army stationed on the border of Laterano and Ursus might have to relocate.

Though she didn't say anything, Texas and Croissant knew her well enough to notice her pace had quickened several times over, nearly breaking into a run.

"Exusiai, don't worry too much. Look, although the exterior is a mess, the interior hasn't taken much damage. And since they were able to drive the car back, doesn't that prove they're fine?" Texas said, keeping pace behind her and analyzing the situation.

She understood Exusiai's anxiety, especially since her sister had only recently recovered from severe injuries. Without reassurance, Exusiai would likely spiral into dark thoughts.

Hearing Texas's analysis, Exusiai's heart settled slightly. Texas was right! If the car made it back, they shouldn't have any life-threatening injuries.

"Sister! Jeanne! Are you two okay?" Exusiai asked with concern the moment she saw them.

However, the two of them looked perfectly fine, sitting there calmly. They didn't seem to have a single scratch; their clothes were so clean you couldn't even spot a Band-Aid. It was as if the life-threatening danger had nothing to do with them.

"Yo, you're back from work! What could happen to us? The only loss is that we ran into some people who turned a perfectly good car into that mess. I just had that car serviced!"

Seeing Lemuen more upset about the damaged car than anything else, the three newcomers confirmed that the pair was completely unharmed. In fact, the enemy had likely suffered far worse.

"Then what's wrong with your hand? I feel like your hand looks a bit off?" Exusiai keenly noticed something strange about her sister's hands. There was no obvious evidence, but she felt her sister's only issue was a slight stiffness.

"Ah, this..." Lemuen saw her sister's worried gaze and raised one hand, moving it flexibly to show there was no real injury. She then explained to her anxious sister: "This is just from sustained fire with the revolver cannon. I was firing for too long, so it's a bit cramped. I just need to rest."

Lemuen didn't care much. Compared to her hands being a bit stiff and numb, she was more focused on the thrill of using the revolver cannon on her enemies. After all, firing that thing was exhilarating! If her physical constitution allowed it, she would fire it for a month straight without stopping!

"A revolver cannon! You actually used a revolver cannon inside Lungmen?! Didn't the Guard Department stop you?"

Exusiai knew very well that Lungmen didn't even sell rubber bullets for a revolver cannon! They couldn't even supply ammo for some standard sniper guns. In this situation, her sister had actually performed sustained fire. Did she use live ammunition in the middle of Lungmen's urban area? And she came back safely?

Just how much influence do they have? It was obvious Lemuen possessed such a dangerous weapon, yet she hadn't even been disarmed.

"The LGD didn't know I had such a dangerous weapon, and that Officer Ch'en—Pink Sausage Dragon—chose to turn a blind eye. She just suggested I shouldn't use such dangerous goods often because it causes panic in the city."

Hearing that Officer Ch'en—the famously "iron-faced and selfless" officer—had caught her sister red-handed with a military-grade weapon and let her go, the three girls felt a sense of disbelief. This was the woman people said would arrest Wei Yenwu himself if he broke the law.

"I see... anyway, how did the revolver cannon feel to use?!" Relieved that they were safe, Exusiai immediately began asking about the weapon she had envied for years.

"It was amazing! You have to understand, the difference between a bullet from a revolver cannon and one from a regular firearm is like heaven and earth! Once you use it, you can never go back..."

Speaking of the handling of the revolver cannon, Lemuen's spirits surged. She slapped her thigh, excitedly recounting the uncontrollable thrill she felt! It sounded like she was bragging, but none of it was an exaggeration; it was all first-hand experience.

"I'm so jealous you got to use it, and you even got to do a live-fire exercise in the city. I wasn't so lucky—I was even messed up by that strange golden light and crashed the car!"
