Chapter 86 - Chapter 86: Kal'tsit Encounters Something Even She Doesn't Understand

Kal'tsit had not actually left; she had merely hidden in a nearby corner after vanishing, quietly listening to the conversation between the two.

She was communicating seriously with Mon3tr, who was currently hiding within her body. Although it could only express very simple emotions, it was enough for Kal'tsit to take the sudden appearance of Jeanne seriously.

Just moments ago, when Jeanne appeared, Kal'tsit felt Mon3tr experience a rare flicker of fear. Prior to this, Kal'tsit had never seen it exhibit such an emotion.

As an Originium lifeform, Mon3tr virtually lacked the concept of death; even if it were smashed into pieces, it could regenerate within Kal'tsit's body. Therefore, it did not know what fear was. Yet, upon seeing Jeanne, Mon3tr had actually transmitted the emotion of fear to her? It was even hiding outright inside Kal'tsit's spine now. Looking at this state, Kal'tsit estimated that without her forced command, it would not come out.

Did this mean the opponent possessed the ability to suppress or even eliminate Originium? If such a power could be mastered by others and utilized in the medical field, would it be possible for a true cure for Oripathy to emerge?

Kal'tsit felt it was necessary to risk communicating with Jeanne. Even if it was just to understand how the other party suppressed Originium, she needed to find more effective means of inhibiting Oripathy. Although the conditions of Theresa and Amiya had not reached the most severe state, Oripathy was the kind of thing that could suddenly explode at any time; no one could be certain. They could not rely entirely on the Doctor's blood for treatment.

Thinking of this, Kal'tsit also turned and departed. It was useless to obsess over these things now. Since she knew where their objective was, there would be time to find them later.

On the other side, when Jeanne supported Crownslayer back into the warehouse, what she saw was Lemuen coaxing the three small children. However, that description was slightly flawed; in Jeanne's eyes, Lemuen seemed to be having quite a lot of fun herself.

"Ah, Wolf Sister is back!"

The three little ones saw Crownslayer's figure and immediately ran over, surrounding her and chattering away. These three children were sensible, however; knowing Crownslayer had a wound on her abdomen, they didn't pounce on her, but instead circled her as they spoke.

"Thanks for taking care of them for so long. Though, you look like you were having a great time playing with them."

Jeanne didn't interrupt the four-person reunion. Instead, she walked to the side to greet Lemuen. Seeing Jeanne return, Lemuen tucked away her submachine gun.

"It wasn't difficult at all. These three children are exceptionally obedient and sensible; they don't throw tantrums or run around. They just stayed here listening to me tell stories. They're much easier to handle than my sister was when she was little."

Looking at Lemuen's very satisfied expression, Jeanne couldn't help but wonder just how mischievous the legendary Exusiai had been as a child.

"You have no idea about Little Exusiai; that girl has been a handful since she was small. If you had seen her back then, you'd have a whole new understanding of the word 'mischievous'..."

Hearing Lemuen's complaints, Jeanne could only offer a sympathetic smile. It seemed the childhood Exusiai was indeed quite the troublemaker, enough to raise her sister's tolerance levels for children by several grades.

"Um... Golden-haired big sister, thank you for helping us find Wolf Sister, and Halo big sister too!"

While Jeanne and Lemuen were talking, Crownslayer had finished calming the excited emotions of the three little ones. The three children immediately ran over to express their gratitude to Jeanne and Lemuen. They all understood that if Jeanne and Lemuen hadn't saved them, they might never have seen Crownslayer again.

"You can just call me Jeanne. Go to the car with this sister first; in a moment, we'll take you back to Azazel."

Jeanne stood up and gestured to Lemuen, letting her take the children away first. Once Lemuen drove the car out of the warehouse, Jeanne approached Crownslayer, who was standing to the side watching the three thugs.

Crownslayer's expression was unreadable at this moment, but her eyes, brimming with killing intent, were fixed on the three men tied together on the ground. Jeanne saw that Crownslayer's fists were clenched very tightly.

"The children are in the car. You should go with them. With those injuries, it's better to have them looked at at the hospital."

Jeanne's arrival broke the death-like atmosphere hanging over the area. Her presence also gave the three men a glimmer of hope. Compared to the boiling killing intent of Crownslayer, the Jeanne before them—who seemed to radiate a gentle light—was clearly easier to talk to. If they were facing this seemingly infinitely gentle girl, perhaps a few words of begging for mercy might allow them to survive.

"Then what about these three?" Crownslayer turned to ask Jeanne, wanting to know how she intended to dispose of them. After all, these three had been captured by Jeanne; she needed to ask for Jeanne's opinion on their handling.

"Leave them to me."

Jeanne's tone was extremely calm. Her eyes were devoid of joy or sorrow, merely looking at the three men with total tranquility. She hadn't killed them before only because it was hard to act with the children present. Now that they were about to leave, she no longer had those constraints. It was better to make people like this shut up as soon as possible.

Hearing Jeanne's words, the three men began to struggle again, their eyes full of pleas for her to spare them.

"Since you don't plan on letting them go, then leave them to me. They still owe me a debt that hasn't been repaid."

Crownslayer let out a sigh of relief upon realizing Jeanne didn't plan on sparing them. If Jeanne truly wanted to let them go, it would have been difficult; she really didn't want to cause a disagreement over this and end up on bad terms with Jeanne. But letting them go was impossible. If they were given a path to live now, the result would certainly be more people searching for her whereabouts, which might even compromise the safety of the Azazel clinic.

Jeanne, seeing the murderous intent on Crownslayer's face, didn't waste any more words. She simply left a message: "Don't go too far, the children are still outside," and turned to leave.

"I also have to thank you for 'taking care' of those three children, you bastards!"

After Jeanne left, Lyudmila looked at the three men with murderous eyes, walking toward them step by step amidst their terror.

Outside, however, Jeanne looked at the car and fell into deep thought. This car had been provided to them by the Laterano camp—supposedly the best-selling private vehicle from Raythean Industries. The problem was, this was a five-seater car, and they currently had six people! How were they supposed to sit? Should they try to squeeze in?

"There aren't even any police nearby. Don't tell me you're worried about a traffic cop checking you for overloading? A car produced by Raythean... never mind six people, even sixteen could fit, as long as you can pack them in."

Lemuen couldn't help but tease Jeanne, seeing her worry about overloading. She hadn't expected Jeanne to follow the rules in a place like this.

"Shut up!"
