Lyra's POV
"It only struck back after you attacked first," I shot back at her. "You came at me with killing intent and I defended myself to survive."
"If that's really what happened," the blonde girl behind me said with a sneer, "then why do you look perfectly fine while Octavia is completely torn up?"
"Killian witnessed everything," I said rapidly. "Killian Nightshade saw it all. He can confirm what really happened."
Right on cue, Killian pushed through the gathered crowd and fixed his stare on me. "What's happening here?"
"Oh Killian, darling!" Octavia whimpered in her most pitiful voice. She tilted her head back with theatrical flair. "You simply won't believe the lies Lyra Cooper is spreading. She's claiming I started this whole mess and that she never struck first."
