A wave of disbelief crashed over me. There was a fifth possibility? Some mysterious man I had never encountered, supposedly a High Alpha who didn't even exist in our current reality. Was I expected to become some kind of predator, waiting around with my abilities locked away until one of the other four produced offspring for me to develop some bizarre attachment to?
What did any of my encounters with Alaric and Ash actually signify then? If wolves typically didn't receive second chances with fated mates, what the hell were all these intense reactions and symptoms I kept experiencing?
