🏛️ Important Monuments of Hampi

1. Virupaksha Temple

One of the oldest and most important temples in Hampi.

Dedicated to Lord Virupaksha (a form of Lord Shiva).

It existed even before the Vijayanagara Empire.

Still an active temple where daily worship is performed.

Special feature:

Tall gopuram (tower) and annual chariot festival.

2. Vittala Temple

The most famous monument in Hampi.

Dedicated to Lord Vittala (a form of Lord Vishnu).

Represents the best example of Vijayanagara architecture.

3. Stone Chariot

Located inside the Vittala Temple complex.

Built entirely of stone but looks like a real chariot.

Built for the royal family of Vijayanagara.

Dedicated to Lord Rama.

Special feature:

Walls are carved with scenes from the Ramayana.

5. Lotus Mahal

A beautiful palace built for royal women.

Shows a blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture.

Special feature:

Lotus-shaped arches and excellent ventilation.

6. Elephant Stables

Used to house the royal elephants.

A long structure with domed chambers.

Special feature:

Combination of Indian and Islamic architectural styles.

7. Queen's Bath

A large bathing structure for the royal family.

Surrounded by high walls and corridors.

Special feature:

Decorative arches and a water supply system.
