Chapter 5 - NEW PROBLEM

Morning sunlight had now spread across the entire city.

As far as the eye could see, a soft golden glow lay over everything. The sun burned fiercely, as if someone had just insulted it.

The markets of Ardent City looked as lively as ever.

Through those streets, Eren and Goo continued walking forward.

Then a voice rang out from behind.

"Hey, dog. Long time no see."

Goo didn't stop.

He kept walking.

He only tilted his head slightly.

Three young men stood behind them.

Their clothes were decent.

But the arrogance in their eyes made it seem as if they had already reached the peak of power.

"Young Master,"

Goo said quietly,

"we should leave quickly."

"Yes,"

Eren replied.

They moved on.

They hadn't gone far when—

A large, heavily built man deliberately slammed into Goo.

"Hey—"

"Are you blind, idiot?"

The voice was heavy.

And filled with the habit of giving orders.

Before Goo could respond—

A punch came flying.

Straight.

Fast as lightning.

It struck Goo's shoulder.

"Ah—"

The pain was sharp.

Violent.

But Goo didn't scream.

Whoosh—

The very next moment, air tore apart.

A wound opened across the man's face.

"Ah! Damn it, that hurts!"

The man staggered back, rage burning in his eyes.

"Stop, brat! You're attacking with a weapon?!"

He bent down sharply and pulled a dagger from his leg.

"Blade attack!"

"Equal damage!"

Shouting, he lunged at Goo.

Crack—!

A sharp sound rang out as Goo's sword collided with the dagger.

"Oh?"

"So you've gotten a little stronger,"

the man sneered.

Goo said nothing.

The man attacked again.

And again.

In just a few seconds, five… six strikes flew toward Goo.

Only one managed to land.

"Goo, are you alright?"

Eren asked calmly, concern hidden beneath his voice.

"I'm fine, Young Master,"

Goo replied, stopping for a moment.

But then—

The man suddenly shifted his angle.

His attack went straight for Goo's sword arm.

The dagger slid forward—

And sliced across his arm as it passed.

"Ah—!"

Goo cried out.

"Goo! Are you badly hurt?"

Eren asked, tension finally leaking into his voice.

"No, Young Master,"

Goo replied, gripping his bleeding arm with his other hand.

Blood dripped onto the stone road.

The fight wasn't over yet.

And this time—

Eren's silence was beginning to crack. The man attacked again.

This time, his strike came straight from below, cutting upward.

The dagger tore through the air, rushing toward Goo's ribs.

But Goo didn't retreat.

He countered.

Metal screamed.

Clang—

This collision was heavier than before.

Goo's sword trembled slightly, but his grip didn't loosen.

The man's eyes widened.

"Hm?"

As if the resistance didn't bother him at all.

He jumped back instantly, creating distance.

"So that's why you disappeared for so many days,"

he muttered.

He spun the dagger.

A faint blue glow appeared along the blade.

It wasn't bright.

But it was there.

"Energy coating?"

Eren said quietly, watching.

The man laughed.

"See that?"

"Something like this… you'll never be able to do it."

People standing along the street had begun to gather.

Someone whispered,

"Isn't that the Ardent family's Young Master?"

But the voice was swallowed by the clash of steel.

This time, the man didn't attack head-on.

He moved left.

Then right.

Suddenly, he crouched low and launched himself upward from the ground.

The attack shot forward like lightning.

Goo's sword came a fraction too late.

Slice—

The blade grazed his arm.

The same spot.

Blood flowed again.

"Goo!"

Eren's voice carried a trace of anger now.

"I can handle it,"

Goo said through clenched teeth.

But his breathing had grown uneven.

"Tired already, dog?"

the man mocked.

He reversed his grip on the dagger.

This stance—

It was meant to kill.

"I'll end this now."

He rushed forward.

Goo closed his eyes.

Thump—!

A heavy sound echoed.

When Goo opened his eyes—

The man stood frozen.

In front of him—

Was a boy.

The dagger hung in midair.

"Young Master… are you alright?"

Goo asked, shaken.

"I'm fine,"

Eren replied calmly.

The man finally noticed him.

"…Who the hell are you?"

"I'm your end,"

Eren said lightly.

"Or forget it."

"You picked a fight you shouldn't have,"

the man snarled.

He didn't waste words.

This time, he coated his blade with energy again.

Stronger than before.

He lunged straight at Eren.

The blade reached Eren's face—

But at the last moment, Eren turned slightly aside.

At the same time, energy gathered in his fist.

A single, compact strike.

It slammed into the man's stomach.

"Ah—!"

The man was sent flying backward.

As he flew—

The dagger in his hand left a shallow cut across Eren's cheek.

Blood trickled down.

"Young Master! You're bleeding!"

Goo exclaimed.

"Let's go to the chemist."

They left the man there and walked away.

After some time, they returned.

They hadn't gone far—

When Eren noticed something in a narrow alley.

Five… six men.

Surrounding a girl.

Harassing her.

Eren stepped toward them—

But Goo moved in front of him.

"Master, we should leave."

"…Alright,"

Eren said.

They walked a short distance.

Then—

Eren turned back.

He saw a hand.

"…That's her."

"Goo,"

Eren said quietly,

"we have to save her."

Who is that girl?

Can they fight them?

Why is she being harassed?

Will that man return?
