Chapter 1 - Transmigration

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Three consecutive lightning strikes struck a poor soul on a road in broad daylight.

"W-why… me…?"

The poor soul muttered with grievance, taking his last breath.

"Is this… the afterlife?"

Lin Feng muttered with despair as he looked at the endless white space around him.

Just a while ago his online girlfriend, whom he had never seen, accepted to date him.

As a virgin bachelor, he was happy beyond the moon, but just then the lightning descended.

He was handsome and fit and did not commit any crimes, so why was he struck by lightning?

Was his online girlfriend too ugly or was he getting scammed by some uncle so the gods couldn't bear it anymore?

If yes, then why kill him?

"Cough… cough… I am sorry, young man."

An aged voice sounded from behind.

Looking back, Lin Feng saw an old man with snow-white hair standing behind a wooden table with a guilty look.

Huh?

Lin Feng was stunned.

Wasn't this the afterlife? So why was an old man here? Did he die too? Did he also get struck by lightning? So I am not the only one?

A series of questions flashed through but soon they were suppressed by the sadness of his death.

"Ahem… I made a grave mistake and sent lightning to the wrong place. I am sorry for your loss."

Seeing that Lin Feng was still listless as if he had lost his life, the old man explained a bit.

"Mistake? Lightning? Wrong place?"

Lin Feng still didn't grasp at what the old man was saying.

But suddenly something clicked.

"Y-you are the one who killed me?!" he asked loudly, his expression furious.

He was just twenty years old and a virgin on top of that.

How unfair it was to die like this?!

"Calm down, calm down," the old man said hastily.

"I can let you transmigrate to another world and it's a world with swords and magic. I believe you will be able to live a good life there, especially since you have a great talent for magic. Furthermore, as compensation for my mistake, you can even make a wish."

"As long as it's not unreasonable, I will try my best to fulfill it," the old man offered.

Hearing him, Lin Feng froze.

He can live after all, not to mention in a world with swords and magic.

He was a frantic devotee of novels and really wished to transmigrate. Especially since he was just an orphan and didn't have anything to regret on this blue star.

"I want to become a god!" he answered without hesitation.

The old man had killed him so it was not too unreasonable for him to grant such a wish, right?

Hearing his words, the old man almost spat out a mouthful of blood.

You want to become a god? Why don't you just say you want to kill me?

"No! Forget about anything that can make you overpowered and strong instantly," The old man shook his head without hesitation.

Lin Feng couldn't help but feel disappointed but soon he cheered up.

He couldn't become a god but he could still become someone powerful.

"I want to become a lord—a lord with territory!" he replied firmly.

As a big fan of the lord and territory management trope, how could he give up on this?

"You want to be a lord?" The old man was stunned.

He did not expect to find someone who has similar taste as him. He couldn't help but remember his youth, where he would travel through different worlds just to become a lord and develop his territory from scratch.

"Sigh, those beautiful days," the old man sighed with reminiscence.

"What? You don't want to go back on your words again, right?" Lin Feng pouted with an unhappy look as he saw the old man busy in his own thoughts.

"I'm a god; I won't go back on my words," The old man rolled his eyes and grabbed a golden orb from the drawer.

"Take this. There is a lord system inside, which can help you build a territory," he explained.

"Oh… a system?"

Lin Feng looked doubtful, carefully observing the golden orb, which was the size of a baby's fist. How could something small like this help him build a territory?

"Humph. Believe it or not, I have already fulfilled your wish. Now is the time for you to go," The old man snorted and snapped his fingers before Lin Feng could reply.

"Grandpa, you are working again!"

As soon as Lin Feng disappeared, a cute loli walked in with a pout.

"I just have some emergency work," the old man explained wryly.

"Humph! Humph! You must be dreaming about running away to be a lord once again, don't you?" the loli snorted as she walked behind the table before fiddling with the drawer.

"Huh, where is the lord system above god-level difficulty?" The little loli was stunned, as she did not find what she was looking for.

"Didn't you take it yesterday?" The old man was also stunned.

"I wanted to but you said its black color looked ominous so you decided to change it to the gold," the loli replied with a pout and continued.

"You are a god. Why is your memory so bad?" she complained with her arms on her hips.

"Golden color?" The old man suddenly recalled the orb he gave to Lin Feng.

"Oh no, I have to stop him," he spoke hastily.

"Tsk, what a stingy old man," Lin Feng cursed and observed his surroundings, only to find he was in the wilderness.

Where was his territory? Where was the survival guide and newbie gifts? Also, where is the lord's house?

Did the old man scam him by saying he wouldn't?

Damn it, I shouldn't have trusted a fake god like him!

Lin Feng cursed wanting cry but no tears came out.

Shing!

Suddenly the golden orb in his hand glowed brightly.

[Ding! Host detected.]

[Initiating Lord System binding...]

[Binding complete.]

[Host: Lin Feng]

[Territory: None]

[Note: Establish your first residence to awaken territorial authority.]

This…

Looking at the system prompt, Lin Feng was speechless.

The lord system doesn't work like this, okay? They start with a house, not without one.

Just then—

Swoosh!

A golden light arrived in front of him.

"Alas, I was late," the old man sighed deeply.
