The moment Bai Lingling stepped out of the room, Mo Lingxu slowly opened his eyes.
The lazy black beast that had been sprawled there just now disappeared in an instant. His enormous body shrank, bones shifting and stretching. Fur faded into pale skin. In a blink, a tall man with long black hair and cold red eyes stood where the beast had been.
The air around him felt completely different.
A shadow separated from the deeper darkness in the corner of the courtyard. The figure knelt silently, head bowed.
"Follow her," Mo Lingxu said calmly.
His voice was not loud, but it carried a quiet command that could not be disobeyed.
"Yes," the shadow replied. Then the figure melted back into the darkness and disappeared.
Mo Lingxu lifted his gaze toward the courtyard gate where Bai Lingling had left. His eyes narrowed slightly.
