The four of them quickly made their way to the expansive lake. The immediate perimeter was devoid of any massive trees, creating a wide, natural clearing. Unfiltered sunlight poured straight down, striking the surface of the water and scattering into brilliant, dancing ribbons of light.
The lake was pristine, so clear that the carpet of moss blanketing the shallows was perfectly visible. However, true to Asher Ryder's earlier warning, the water was deceptively deep. Staring outward, the bottom simply vanished, swallowed by a profound, dark blue abyss that obscured whatever lay beneath. It seemed their luck was somewhat lacking today. There wasn't a single fish to be seen darting around the sunlit surface.
Ewan, however, wasn't terribly disappointed, having been forewarned by Asher. The moment he grasped Simon's hand, fully intending to drag the other Omega toward the nearby stream, he felt a gentle tug pulling him back.
