Chapter 89 - March to the Core

They couldn't stop it.

No matter what they tried—

The movement continued.

A silent march.

— The Roads Fill —

Highways.

Streets.

Alleys.

Every path leading toward one place.

Filled.

Fragment users walked in unison.

Eyes empty.

Steps steady.

Cars were abandoned.

Barriers ignored.

Nothing mattered—

Except the direction.

— Juvy Moves —

Juvy stood at the edge of the road.

Watching them pass.

Dozens.

Hundreds.

"…This is bad…"

Lina stood beside her.

Holding her head slightly.

"…It's getting louder…"

Juvy looked at her.

"…Can you resist it?"

Lina shook her head.

"…Barely…"

A pause.

"…But I know where it's coming from."

Juvy nodded.

"…Then we go there."

She turned.

Determined.

"…We end this before it gets worse."

— The Resistance —

Back at base—

Mara issued commands rapidly.

"…Evacuate civilians from all major routes!"

Eli worked the system.

"…It's spreading too fast—"

Mara cut him off.

"…Then we stay ahead of it."

A pause.

"…And we prepare for impact."

— Maxruell's Path —

On a broken highway—

Maxruell walked against the flow.

Everyone else moved forward.

He moved through them.

Unaffected.

His eyes scanned the crowd.

Watching.

Studying.

"…You're all being pulled…"

A pause.

"…Which means something's at the center."

A faint smirk.

"…Good."

He cracked his knuckles.

"…I'll break it."

— Interruption —

Suddenly—

A familiar presence.

"…Still trying to fight everything alone?"

Maxruell stopped.

Turned.

Kael stood behind him.

Calm as ever.

"…You again," Maxruell said.

Kael glanced at the crowd.

"…You see it now."

Maxruell scoffed.

"…Yeah."

"…Something's controlling them."

Kael nodded.

"…Not controlling."

A pause.

"…Calling."

Maxruell's eyes narrowed.

"…Same difference."

Kael shook his head.

"…No."

"…Control forces."

"…A call… is answered."

Silence.

Maxruell looked at the walking figures.

"…Then why are they answering?"

Kael's voice dropped slightly.

"…Because it's part of them."

— Realization —

Back with Juvy—

She and Lina moved quickly across rooftops.

Avoiding the crowd.

"…If it's calling them…" Juvy said.

"…Then it's connected to them."

Lina nodded.

"…It feels like… home."

Juvy stopped.

"…Home…?"

Lina's expression tightened.

"…But wrong."

— The Convergence —

From every direction—

They moved.

Thousands now.

All heading to Ground Zero.

The sky above that area—

Distorted again.

Faint.

But growing.

— Final Scene —

At the center—

The Vessel stood.

Now almost complete.

Its body shifting less.

Becoming stable.

More human.

But not entirely.

Its eyes opened fully.

For the first time—

Clear.

Aware.

"…they return…"

Fragments continued to flow into it.

Stronger.

Closer to completion.

Then—

It looked up.

Toward the distance.

Toward two directions.

Juvy.

Maxruell.

"…the core pieces…"

"…finally…"
