Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Mirajane's Challenge

[Ding! Detected that the host has won a formal duel against the important guild member, Natsu Dragneel, and has gained widespread recognition within the guild. Distributing rewards...]

[Acquired: 500 Digi-Energy, 1 random Rookie-level Digimon, and a minor increase in magic power.]

Ace listened to the clear system notification in his mind, his heart stirring.

The rewards for defeating Natsu were quite generous.

Not only did his magic power increase, but he also received a chance to summon an unknown Rookie-level Digimon.

"Yo! Ace! I'll definitely win next time!" Natsu, still full of energy, slung an arm around his neck and yelled.

However, a cold voice, burning with fighting spirit, cut through the clamor.

"To be able to beat Natsu with ease, it seems you're not just lucky." Mirajane slowly walked over, a proud smile on her lips.

"So, how about it, newbie? Spar a couple of rounds with me. Let me see what you're really made of."

The hall fell silent for a moment, then erupted into an uproar.

"Mira-nee is going to fight?!"

"His opponent is the She-Devil Mirajane!"

Master Makarov immediately leaned out from the second floor, stopping her with a stern voice.

"Mira! No fooling around!"

"Master, it's just a friendly spar," Mirajane said, her eyes locked on Ace. "Come and fight me. I'll show you who the strongest wizard in Fairy Tail really is!"

Ace was well aware of Mirajane's power.

In her "Satan" form, she possessed extreme speed and immense combat strength, an absolute power that could likely crush a Champion-level Digimon like his current Garurumon.

But Ace hadn't been idle these past few years.

He held an even more terrifying and ominous power within him.

"I accept your challenge," Ace's voice was low but firm.

It seemed... he had no other choice.

"You've got guts!" The fighting spirit in Mirajane's eyes blazed even brighter.

The moment Ace accepted the challenge, Makarov looked at the boy's resolute, unafraid eyes.

An image he had seen a few days ago while passing a remote village flashed through his mind.

'Wait a minute...' Makarov's gaze sharpened, his brow furrowed.

He recalled the shocking scene he had witnessed near that remote village a few days prior—a large swath of forest had been ravaged as if by a giant beast, leaving a trail of devastation.

The broken trees and terrifying claw marks were startling.

'Even if it can evolve into that silver-blue wolf (Garurumon), and its strength is considerable, it could never have caused the scale of horrific destruction I saw back then!'

This kid, could he be really hiding something else...?'

A sense of foreboding washed over Makarov's heart.

"You two... sigh!" Makarov was helpless and could only emphasize again, "Keep it to a friendly match!"

The crowd quickly cleared a space.

Without another word, Mirajane unleashed her powerful magic!

"Take Over: Satan Soul!"

Her demonic form descended!

Wings sprouted, her appearance shifted, and a terrifying pressure made the air in the guild hall practically freeze.

Faced with this astonishing aura, what happened next caught everyone off guard.

Ace unsummon the Garurumon that had just defeated Natsu, then he clasped his hands together as his expression turning grim.

A completely different energy—one filled with deathly silence, decay and violent rage—surged around him.

"Come forth... SkullGreymon!"

Following Ace's resolute roar, a dazzling dark gray light erupted from the floor.

Immediately after, an incredibly vast and bizarrely twisted Magic Circle unfurled before him.

Unlike the geometric beauty of normal circles, this one looked like jagged bone.

In an instant, an intensely ominous aura surged forth like a tidal wave, threatening to devour the entire world.

Even the terrifying demonic pressure from Mirajane's Satan Soul that had enveloped the hall was forcefully suppressed and pushed back by this new, mighty power!

At this moment, everyone present was dumbfounded by the sight, their faces filled with disbelief and primal fear.

Just then, the center of the massive Magic Circle began to fluctuate violently.

Then, it emerged.

A colossal skeletal dragon, its body so immense it seemed to scrape the high ceiling of the guild.

It was as majestic as a mountain but composed of nothing but pale, sun-bleached white bones.

It stepped out from the void, and each step it took caused the ground to tremble violently, the stone floor cracking under its weight as if the guild itself might shatter and collapse at any moment!

Within its hollow eye sockets, two crimson flames danced wildly, revealing an endless, mindless madness.

Its gaping maw snapped open and shut, producing a series of sharp, bone-chilling grinding sounds that made the hairs on everyone's arms stand on end.

An aura of pure destruction continuously emanated from its body, suggesting that the slightest touch from it would reduce anything to dust!

"Wh-what is that monster?!"

"A skeleton... dragon?"

"What is this terrifying aura?! I can't breathe!"

Even the demonized Mirajane's face was etched with shock.

The unprecedented threat she felt from the skeletal dragon caused her to freeze for a fatal split second.

This creature completely surpassed her understanding of a "Summoned Beast"—it was a calamity given form!

"ROOOOAR—!"

SkullGreymon let out an irrational savage howl that shook the dust from the rafters.

Its massive bone claws, carrying the power to tear through anything, swung down at Mirajane without any finesse or technique—just pure, overwhelming violence!

Its speed and power had reached a horrifying level!

"Evil Spark!"

With a furious shout, Mirajane shook off her shock.

Her eyes, as deep as the night, glinted with a heart-stopping light.

Boundless dark energy gathered in her fists, and a powerful, terrifying force erupted to meet the attack.

This power seemed to be the breath of a demon from an endless abyss, carrying an aura of total annihilation.

In the blink of an eye, a massive beam of pitch-black energy shot from Mirajane's hands, continuously bombarding SkullGreymon's descending bone claw.

The energy tore through the air with sharp, piercing shrieks.

When it collided with SkullGreymon's incredibly hard bone claw, it triggered a series of earth-shattering explosions.

BOOM—!

A deafening roar, like a meteor strike, resounded through the building!

But the bone claw didn't stop.

It crushed through the magic.

Mirajane felt an indescribable brute force penetrate her defenses.

Blood spurted directly from her mouth as she was sent flying backward like a kite with a cut string.

She crashed straight through the guild's thick stone wall and disappeared into the dust of the street outside!

Silence!

A deathly, suffocating silence descended upon the hall!

Everyone stood frozen, staring in disbelief at the colossal skeletal beast in the center of the hall, which radiated an aura of absolute destruction.

After easily defeating the She-Devil Mirajane with a single blow, the creature seemed to have lost its target.

It began to instinctively destroy its surroundings, swinging its massive bone tail.

CRASH!

Several tables, chairs, and another section of the wall were turned into splinters and dust in an instant!

Ace looked at the out-of-control SkullGreymon and the devastated interior of the guild with a wry smile.

The situation he had feared had come to pass.

He could only trouble their Master to clean up the mess before the beast brought the roof down.

And Makarov...

The small old man stood staring blankly at the skeletal dragon, then shifted his gaze to the massive, gaping hole in the wall where Mirajane had vanished.

Finally, his brain connected the scene before him with the memory of that destroyed forest.

"So... the one that caused that destruction back then... was this thing?" he muttered to himself as his soul leaving his body.

Then, an endless wave of financial grief washed over him as he realized the repair costs.

He clutched his head and let out a heart-wrenching, tear-filled wail that echoed louder than the dragon's roar.

"MY GUILD—!!!"
