Valencrest – Dormitory Corridor / Late Night
Day 9 / First hours of the new exam
The corridor had never been so charged with tension. The civilians had started gathering in their dormitories, speaking in hushed voices, unaware of the invisible presence among them. I walked slowly between the doors, my steps measured, every muscle ready to react. I didn't need to show anything, I didn't need to speak. Just observe.
My perception widened: reading the weight of steps, the compressed air, the slightest movement of feet on the floor. Someone was moving differently, even though there were no sounds. It wasn't a human error; it was deliberate. The new intruder was here.
Every corridor was a puzzle, every door a possible trap. Yet I was not in danger. Ever.
Valencrest – Common Room / Night
The first civilians began to feel uneasy. Chairs trembled slightly, books fell to the floor as if moved by an invisible current. No one saw anything, but the tension was growing.
I sat down, back straight, eyes alert, breathing slowly. I thought about the rules of the second phase: the new intruder acts silently, behind the doors, ready to manipulate anyone who moves without realizing it. The first phase had been a game of visible perceptions. This was pure mental warfare.
The bracelet vibrated: +50 points for advanced observation. No one could perceive what I already knew: the intruder was reading the situation like me. Not a wrong step, not a misplaced word, yet every civilian was a pawn in a larger game.
Valencrest – Library Corridor / Midnight
Then came the first direct contact. Not a physical attack, not a strike, but a small signal: a door opening slightly, a subtle vibration on the floor. The enemy was testing my reflexes.
I reacted without thinking. My body moved before my mind registered the motion: a lateral step, weight shifted, arm ready to intercept any contact. There was not a sound, only the shadow of someone attempting to approach too closely.
The civilians didn't understand. They had no idea. Some turned toward me, confused, sensing something strange in the air, but they couldn't know what was happening.
I observed. I analyzed. I planned. Every movement was calculated, every breath measured. I didn't need to attack—not yet. Only understand, read, and wait for the right moment.
Valencrest – Study Room / Early Hours
The new intruder began to interfere with the environment. Slightly shifted shelves, fallen books, corridors seemingly empty but full of tension. It was clear that he was testing me more than the civilians. He wanted to see if I would be afraid, if I would react.
I was not afraid. Every fiber of my body was ready. I wouldn't lose points, I wouldn't fall for the illusion.
Yet, there was excitement. A subtle pleasure in the game, in total control. The first time I faced someone so invisible, so silent, so precise. I couldn't see him, but every step of his was recorded inside me.
I thought:
"Who are you? Why are you here? It doesn't matter. Every move, every small signal, I record it. And when the time comes… you will be just an obstacle to eliminate effortlessly."
Valencrest – Dormitory Corridor / End of the First Hour
Hours passed slowly. I moved through the corridors, keeping the civilians unaware of the true tension. The bracelet vibrated occasionally, points awarded for perception, analysis, and observation. Earning points wasn't important. This was a test, real training.
Then I felt it clearly: a slightly heavier breath behind a closed door, an imperceptible movement in the adjacent room. The new intruder was close. He showed nothing, but his presence was unmistakable.
I slowed my pace, lowered my gaze, and moved like a shadow along the wall, breathing only through my nose. Every fiber of my body was ready. If he moved too soon… I would stop him instantly.
But he didn't. The intruder knew I could feel him. The body doesn't lie. And this amused him.
Valencrest – Library Room / End of Second Hour
The civilians were beginning to sense something, without being able to define it. Some whispered, others turned nervously, but no one could understand the real danger. I walked among the shelves, measuring the weight, the air, the slightest changes.
The enemy was everywhere and nowhere. He was invisible, yet his strategy was clear: agitate the pawns, break concentration, create tension. The school's system was perfect—but it hadn't accounted for me.
I smiled faintly inside. The game had just begun. And the intruder didn't yet know who he was playing against.
Valencrest – Dormitory Corridor / End of Session
The first phase of the exam was over, but now the real second phase had begun. The new intruder was moving silently, observing, testing. The civilians were unaware of everything, oblivious to the true danger.
I leaned against the wall, breathing slowly. I didn't need to see the enemy's face. Not yet. It was enough to sense.
The final thought that crossed my mind before the session ended:
"The first phase is complete. The second has just begun. And this time, the game… will be far more interesting."
The corridor remained empty, but the tension was palpable. Every shadow could conceal the enemy, every door hide a threat. And I was ready. Always ready.
