Chapter 12 - Rinnegan Upgrade

Outer region of the Valley of the End —

Temporary camp of Imperial Capital University.

Several recruitment instructors were chatting idly.

"This year's batch is stacked," one of them said. "I checked—there are over a dozen students with S-rank talents alone."

The middle-aged man speaking was Li Hui, a senior mentor from Imperial Capital University, a cigarette dangling from his lips.

When he mentioned S+, the other instructors all exchanged knowing smiles.

Clearly, they had already heard of that genius trash-tier prodigy.

Being unable to become a Beast Tamer wasn't rare.

What was bizarre was that the kid had awakened S+ talent.

That contradiction left the entire human camp feeling deeply regretful.

If he were an innate S+ Beast Tamer, he would surely grow into a pillar of strength against the alien beast invasion.

What a pity.

"I don't want S-rank students," Li Hui continued casually.

"When the time comes, you personally take that S+ kid. Give me the A-rank ones."

The bespectacled woman who responded was Bai Yan, also a long-time mentor at Imperial Capital University.

Although they were both recruitment instructors, they were just as much rivals competing for elite students.

"Forget it," Li Hui waved his hand.

"I can't teach someone who can't become a Beast Tamer. Non–Beast Tamer systems should've been swept into the trash heap of history long ago."

A chubby old man nearby chuckled.

"I wouldn't mind taking him in—but the price has to be right."

Suddenly—

From the corner, a black-haired girl draped in a dark cloak spoke up.

"S+ talent, huh? That's… interesting."

As she spoke, she casually picked up the long tachi at her side and walked straight out of the camp.

Everyone turned to look at her slender back.

Jun Xuna —

A third-year outstanding student of Imperial Capital University, currently serving as the Student Council President.

This time, she was here on behalf of her mentor to scout promising newcomers.

"I heard Xuna already reached Radiant Gold Tier 5," someone muttered. "What a freak."

"She's just like her teacher—monstrous."

"Good thing that teacher is always slacking off and barely shows up. Otherwise, with her title Witch of the Forest, all the top students would've been monopolized."

"Oh right, did you guys see the news? There was a suspected sighting of the Medicine God yesterday…"

Outer boundary of the Valley of the End.

After finally shaking off Cheng Shiya, Luo Bing set out fully prepared, heading into the dense forest.

As he walked, his Rinnegan remained fully activated, easily reading the flow of spiritual energy around him.

Every alien beast hidden deep within the forest—its every movement—was laid bare.

Perhaps sensing Luo Bing's Mountain Bronze Tier 9 aura, the beasts lurking in the shadows didn't act rashly.

Instead, they waited for an opening.

After wandering around for a few more minutes—

A nimble Floral-patterned Viper slithered down from the treetops behind him, tongue flicking.

Hiss!

Seizing the moment Luo Bing paused to rest, it bared its fangs and lunged.

"Ara River Reincarnation Finger."

Luo Bing didn't even bother turning around.

He simply raised a finger behind him and pointed.

A beam of spiritual energy shot out instantly—

Piercing straight through the viper's skull.

The multi-attribute energy then detonated inside its flesh.

Boom!

The snake exploded into fragments.

Looking at the shattered remains, Luo Bing grinned.

"As expected of a Epic-grade spirit technique—smooth to use."

"As long as it's not a second-tier alien beast, I can pretty much one-shot them."

"Even if a second-tier beast from deeper in the valley wanders out, my chances of killing it across tiers are still solid."

Alien beasts were divided into Tier 1 to Tier 6, corresponding to the six major realms of Beast Tamers.

Ding!

"Congratulations, Host, for killing an E-rank Tier 1 alien beast. Reward: 2 points."

Two points…

That stingy reward made Luo Bing's mouth twitch.

He glanced at the Points Shop in the Xinyue Store.

White Zetsu Corpse: Fine quality. Used to create the Six Paths of Pain. Cost: 100 pointsSoldier Pills: Common quality. Gradually restore a small amount of spiritual energy. Cost: 2 pointsLv.1 Myriad Worlds Ability Upgrade Ticket: Epic quality. Randomly increases Lv.1 ability progress by 1%–10%. Cost: 200 points

"I'm your dad!"

"Low point rewards are one thing, but random progress?! What kind of scam is that?!"

"The developer behind this system wouldn't happen to have the surname Ma, would they?!"

Ding!

"Due to the built-in pity system, the more upgrade tickets you use, the higher the probability of large boosts."

Luo Bing clenched his teeth.

"Fine. Let's hope there are enough alien beasts in the outer region before I reach the Radiant Silver realm."

"Otherwise, I'll have to risk going deeper into the Valley of the End."

Reignited with fighting spirit, Luo Bing unleashed the full force of his dense spiritual energy.

From then on—

Anything that moved died to a single finger.

Cats. Dogs. Snakes. Birds.

Even cute little rabbits were spared nothing.

A perfect demonstration of not leaving a single female dog alive within fifty li.

The alien beasts that had initially watched him like prey—

Now stared at him like they'd seen a ghost, fleeing in terror at full speed.

Luo Bing, however, refused to let a single walking point reward escape.

Lightning crackled at his fingertips.

His attack speed maxed out—

Like a human machine gun, firing nonstop.

Alien beasts fell one after another.

Passing examinees stared in disbelief.

"Isn't that Luo Bing—the famous S+ 'waste prodigy' of this year?"

"That finger technique… that's his talent!"

"So that's S+ talent for you. Even if it's not Beast Tamer–type, it's still leagues above our trash-tier talents."

"Damn it—who the hell started spreading that Beast Tamer–only supremacy nonsense?!"

While they were still kneeling and begging spirit beasts to accept capture-ball contracts—

Luo Bing had already begun slaughtering the outer-region alien beasts.

At this point, they'd gladly trade talents with him.

Ding!

"Congratulations, Host, for killing an E-rank Tier 1 alien beast. Reward: 1 point. Drop: Common Ninjutsu Fragment ×1/10."

Ding!

"Congratulations, Host, for killing a D-rank Tier 1 alien beast. Reward: 5 points. Drop: Common Ninjutsu Fragment ×2/10."

Ding!

"Congratulations, Host, for killing a C-rank Tier 1 alien beast. Reward: 10 points. Drop: Fine Ninjutsu Fragment ×2/10."

Ding!

"Congratulations, Host, for killing an E-rank Tier 1 alien beast. Reward: 2 points."

Fortunately, while the point rewards were pitiful, there was a chance to drop ninjutsu fragments.

Once enough fragments were collected, they could be fused to obtain a random ninjutsu of the corresponding quality.

"Random again," Luo Bing couldn't help complaining.

He really lacked supplementary ninjutsu.

Even low-level techniques like Hidden Mist or Water Clone could create massive tactical value in tight situations.

Suddenly—

Luo Bing noticed everyone nearby staring at him, jaws dropped.

Too flashy.

After accumulating enough points—

His figure flickered, and he quickly slipped into a hidden cave.

He opened the system interface.

Points: 356

"System, exchange for a Lv.1 Upgrade Ticket," Luo Bing said calmly.

Ding!

"200 points consumed. Myriad Worlds Ability Upgrade Ticket acquired. Use on Rinnegan now?"

"Yes."

Ding!

"Upgrade Ticket used with Great Success! Rinnegan upgrade progress increased by 10%!"

Ding!

"Congratulations, Host. Rinnegan upgraded to Lv.2."

"Deva Path unlocked: Shinra Tensei, Banshō Ten'in."
