Chapter 15 - You Bumpkins—Ever Seen the Power of the Moon?

"Hey, hey—wake up, genius," Blue said bluntly, dumping a bucket of cold water over Red's head.

"You're just a disembodied soul right now. Don't get too carried away."

She shuddered visibly.

"If we don't solve this soon, and a few years later the girl named Blue gets married and has kids, I'm going to be forced to watch the live broadcast."

Just imagining it made her whole body tremble.

"And the worst part?" she added grimly.

"I share her consciousness."

Red: "..."

Blue suddenly patted him on the shoulder, trying to console him.

"But you don't have to worry. From what I can tell, this kid named Ash has bones of steel and the emotional awareness of a brick. Give him another twenty years and he still probably won't find a girlfriend."

"…Just like you."

Red: "..."

As expected—women are troublesome.

A Shared Conclusion

After some discussion, they reached a consensus.

Possession was out of the question.

Ash and the host-Blue were essentially alternate versions of themselves.

There was no way they could just erase their own existence.

So there were only two options:

Human technology

Find someone like Team Rocket's research division—those mad scientists who managed to create Mewtwo.

If they could manufacture a body and transfer a soul into it, maybe this could work too.

Divine intervention

This world was full of Legendary Pokémon with godlike power.

Surely someone out there could help.

On this matter, they formed their second alliance.

The first, of course, was still:

Jointly beating up Gary and Green.

"Let's At Least Get Her a Clefairy"

"Since we're done talking," Blue said, stretching lazily,

"I should at least help that girl catch a Clefairy. After seven days of fasting with nothing to show for it, she's one disappointment away from going insane."

She pulled Red along and led him into a patch of bushes near the stone platform, carefully hiding their presence.

"In that world, I also caught a Clefairy here on Mt. Moon," Blue whispered.

"Normally, every Monday night, Clefairy gather and place a Moon Stone on the altar as an offering. They perform a ritual. That part wasn't a lie."

Red frowned.

They'd already waited seven or eight hours.

Were Clefairy only active late at night?

"Idiot," Blue scoffed.

"It's a secret ritual. With humans around, of course they won't come out. They're probably getting impatient by now."

Sure enough—

Moments after they went completely still, a shadow emerged from a crack in the rock wall.

A small, pink Pokémon cautiously peeked out, scanning the area.

No humans?

After a while, it relaxed and began calling softly.

"Clefairy~"

"Clefairy~"

"Clefairy~"

Soon, dozens of Clefairy filed out in neat lines.

Several sturdier ones carried a meteorite nearly a meter wide.

That was clearly their offering.

Blue suddenly grinned.

"Hey—what do you think would happen if we jumped out and scared them right now?"

"When they go back, would they beat up the poor Clefairy on lookout duty?"

Red: "..."

He subtly scooted a little farther away from her.

The Ritual

The Clefairy lifted the meteorite onto the altar.

They circled it, chanting softly, then began hopping rhythmically—

a ritual dance passed down through generations.

"So," Red asked quietly,

"how are you planning to catch one?"

With this many Clefairy, the simplest method would be throwing a rock.

Statistically, you'd knock one out with your eyes closed.

"I have my ways," Blue said smugly.

She pulled out a Poké Ball.

Red light flashed—

A larger, rounder pink Pokémon appeared.

"Beep-beep.

Clefable.

The Fairy Pokémon.

Gastly's favorite food."

Red's Pokédex announced.

Both of them: "..."

Blue frowned deeply.

"This Pokédex is worse than a brick. And why does it have sound on during stealth missions?"

Professional Abduction

"Go, Clefable," Blue whispered.

"Bring me one cute Clefairy."

"…And grab two Moon Stones while you're at it."

"Clefable~"

Clefable hopped cheerfully toward the group.

The Clefairy startled at first—

but quickly recognized it as an elder.

They welcomed it into the ritual without suspicion.

Step one: blend in.

Clefable smiled sweetly and joined the dance.

Red hesitated.

"…That Clefable—isn't it—"

"Yes," Blue nodded.

"I brought it over from the other world."

For the first time, her playful expression turned serious.

"Thank goodness my Pokémon came with me. Otherwise, I'd probably be just as emotionally dead as you."

Red understood.

He, too, was grateful that his Pokémon hadn't been erased.

Compared to crossing worlds, this was the greatest gift of all.

"…That said," Blue muttered,

"is the girl really this oblivious? I put Clefable's Poké Ball right on her belt and she still hasn't noticed."

She smacked her own forehead.

Red stayed silent.

His own Pikachu's Poké Ball had been sitting on Ash's belt this whole time too.

And every night, he had to sneak out to find food for it.

…Maybe this was what people called "pure-hearted."

Moon Stone Distribution

The ritual concluded.

Now came the moment—

Moon Stones were distributed to Clefairy ready to evolve.

As for where evolved Clefable usually went?

Deep into Mt. Moon.

To make more Clefairy.

"Clefable~"

Fully integrated into the group, Blue's Clefable called out.

The world outside is vast—who wants to conquer it with me?

Step two: persuasion.

"Clefairy…"

Most of the Clefairy shook their heads.

They preferred their carefree lives here.

But one small Clefairy hesitated.

Clefable pointed at it.

"Clefable~"

"Clefairy~"

The little one wavered.

Suddenly—

Other Clefairy grew angry.

Several strong Clefairy smashed fragments off the meteorite.

Evolution light flared.

In moments, multiple Clefable appeared.

A fight was imminent.

"Moonblast."

Blue's Clefable snapped.

Veins bulged on its forehead.

Did they really think it was still some innocent, soft fairy?

Pink light gathered in its palm.

The energy shot skyward—

And detonated.

Moonblast.

A massive Fairy-type explosion washed over the native Clefairy and Clefable.

Their faces froze in disbelief.

This kind of power… exists?

Clefable clapped its hands smugly.

As if saying:

"You Kanto bumpkins—ever seen Moonblast before?"

Step three: overwhelming force.

The little Clefairy's eyes sparkled.

Decision made.

It followed Clefable immediately.

The others could only watch, envious.

On the way out, Blue's Clefable casually broke off a massive chunk of the meteorite, scanned the crowd provocatively—

Then left.

With extreme arrogance.

Spoils of War

Back in the bushes—

"Excellent work, Clefable!"

Blue rubbed its pink head enthusiastically.

That instant personality shift was pure her style.

She then turned to the Clefairy.

"Well? Want to travel with me?"

"Clefairy~"

It nodded happily.

No battle required.

Capture successful.

Clefable handed over the meteorite chunk.

Blue examined it—

nearly five Moon Stones inside.

"Fair's fair," she said casually.

"Wouldn't want you saying I don't take care of you."

She snapped off a small piece and tossed it to Red.

Red: "..."

He stared at his fragment.

Only useless rock remained.

Not a trace of Moon Stone.

Silence fell.
