Chapter 12 - CHAPTER 12

CHAPTER 12, THE MOMENT CONTROL SLIPPED

The next morning—

Jay opened his eyes before the alarm could ring.

Soft sunlight filtered into the room, spreading gently across the walls. But today, it didn't feel peaceful.

His mind was still trapped in the same place—

That battlefield.

That red-eyed figure.

And most of all—

Mr. Arvind's words—

"You are not human."

Jay stared at the ceiling.

For a few seconds…

Then slowly closed his eyes again.

"If I'm not human… then what am I?"

No answer came.

But this time—

Something stirred inside him.

A faint movement.

As if something had heard him.

Jay's eyes snapped open.

His breathing quickened slightly.

"…You?"

He whispered under his breath.

But again—

Silence.

Like nothing had happened.

Jay took a deep breath.

"I need answers…"

On the way to school—

Everything felt different.

Not because the world had changed.

But because he had.

The same road.

The same people.

But now—

His senses felt sharper.

More aware.

Two boys walking nearby were whispering to each other.

Jay passed them—

And without even trying—

He heard them clearly.

"That's him…"

"The one whose eyes turned red…"

Jay slowed down for a moment.

Then continued walking.

His expression grew more serious.

"My hearing… has increased?"

He didn't understand it.

But he couldn't ignore it.

The classroom felt tense.

Quiet.

Uncomfortable.

Like everyone knew something—

But no one wanted to say it out loud.

Jay sat down.

Aisha leaned slightly toward him.

"Are you okay?" she asked softly.

Jay shook his head faintly.

"I don't know."

She studied his face for a moment.

"Since yesterday… you feel different."

Jay glanced at her.

"…Different how?"

She hesitated.

"Like you're here… but not fully."

Jay didn't respond.

Because deep down—

He felt the same.

Then—

The classroom door opened.

Mr. Arvind walked in.

But this time—

He wasn't alone.

Two other men followed him.

They wore simple clothes.

But their presence felt just as heavy.

The entire class fell silent.

Mr. Arvind looked around.

Then said calmly—

"Today's class will be different."

No one spoke.

But tension filled the room.

"We will select a few students for a special test."

Whispers started.

"What kind of test?"

"Why?"

Ignoring them, Mr. Arvind began calling names.

One by one, students were sent outside.

Then—

"Jay."

The room went completely quiet again.

Jay stood up.

His eyes met Mr. Arvind's.

This time—

He didn't hesitate.

He wanted answers.

Jay walked out.

They led him to another part of the school.

A quiet section.

A closed room.

Empty.

Cold.

Unnaturally cold.

Jay stepped inside.

Mr. Arvind and the two men followed.

The door shut behind them.

"What is this?" Jay asked.

Mr. Arvind didn't answer directly.

"Today," he said, "we test your limits."

Jay frowned.

"What limits?"

Mr. Arvind's eyes sharpened.

"Yours."

Silence filled the room.

Then—

One of the men stepped forward.

His movements were steady.

Controlled.

Not normal.

Jay's body reacted instantly.

Tension.

Focus.

Awareness.

"Get ready," Mr. Arvind said.

"For what?" Jay asked.

But the answer came—

As an attack.

The man moved suddenly.

Fast.

Much faster than a normal person.

But—

Jay moved too.

Without thinking.

Without hesitation.

He stepped aside.

The attack missed.

The man didn't stop.

Another strike.

Then another.

Each one faster.

Sharper.

But Jay dodged every time.

Like his body already knew what to do.

Mr. Arvind watched carefully.

"Increase the speed," he ordered.

Now—

Both men moved.

At the same time.

The room filled with rapid motion.

Footsteps.

Air slicing.

Impact sounds.

Jay moved back.

But his breathing stayed calm.

No fear.

No panic.

Only reaction.

And then—

It happened.

A faint red glow appeared in his eyes.

Slowly.

Clearly.

This time—

It didn't fade.

Jay's vision sharpened.

Everything slowed down.

The attacks—

Clear.

Predictable.

Jay raised his hand.

Blocked one strike.

Grabbed another.

Pushed.

Turned.

And countered.

THUD!

One man hit the ground.

The other stepped back instantly.

Silence.

Jay stood in the center.

Breathing steady.

Eyes glowing red.

Mr. Arvind stepped closer.

There was no doubt in his expression now.

Only confirmation.

"It's no longer hidden," he said.

Jay looked at him.

"This… isn't me…"

Mr. Arvind shook his head.

"No."

A brief pause.

"This is the real you."

Jay froze.

"…What?"

Suddenly—

A voice echoed in his mind.

That same voice.

The shadow.

Jay grabbed his head.

"No… not now…"

But the voice came again—

"You cannot stop it…"

The red glow in his eyes intensified.

The air in the room grew heavier.

Mr. Arvind's expression changed instantly.

"Step back!" he ordered the others.

Jay's body started trembling.

Like he was losing control.

His breathing became uneven.

His vision blurred.

And in that moment—

Deep inside his mind—

The shadow smiled.

Because—

The seal…

Was finally beginning to break. 🔥👁️
