Chapter 12 - Chapter 12: The Great Boar of Bran Village

Empoy was enjoying a rare moment of peace in his shack. He was tinkering with a small mana-thread coil and adjusting a lantern that could detect hidden magical traces.

Then a villager came running, screaming:

"EMPOY! EMPOY! A HUGE BOAR IS RAMPAGING TOWARD THE VILLAGE!"

Empoy sighed. "Quiet life… officially over."

Guild Panic (Again)

At the guild, chaos erupted.

"Lowest rank! You're the only one available!" the receptionist shouted. "That boar is enormous! Bigger than the last wyvern!"

Kiko ran in dramatically. "We must fight! For glory!"Lina clutched her staff nervously. "Do you think… we survive this?"Bram silently drew an arrow.

Empoy rubbed his eyes. "Quiet life… impossible."

He grabbed his tinkering satchel. "Alright. Let's do this… quietly, efficiently, and with minimal heroic drama."

Setting Up the Multi-Device Defense

Outside the village, the boar was charging through the outskirts, knocking over fences and carts. Its tusks were long and curved, its eyes glowing faintly red—clearly magical.

Empoy calmly set up his devices:

Mana-thread tripwires along the main path

Electrified reinforced nets connected to small coil generators

Directional explosive traps (non-lethal, just strong enough to knock it over)

Illusionary lights to guide the boar into the kill zone

He muttered under his breath:

If this goes well… feast tonight. Quietly.

The villagers peeked from behind walls, whispering:

"He's setting up… something…"

"That's… a lot of gadgets…"

"He's… going to handle it, isn't he?"

Empoy tripped on a loose stone.

Perfect.

The Boar Charges

The boar thundered toward the village, growling and snorting. It triggered the tripwires first. Sparks arced harmlessly across its legs, slowing it down slightly.

It crashed into the electrified nets next, yelping and twisting in confusion.

Empoy, behind cover, activated the directional explosive traps. The boar tumbled and rolled—fully alive, but stunned—into the final trap zone: a reinforced pit covered with a mana-thread net.

The villagers gasped. "He… he did it again…"

Empoy casually stepped forward, pulled a small device from his bag, and delivered a final electric zap to subdue the boar completely. It lay still, safely captured.

Accidental heroics? Officially… spectacular.

Celebration and Recognition

The villagers erupted in cheers. Mothers and children ran forward, clapping.

"Empoy! You saved the village!"

"Our protector!"

"We are forever in your debt!"

Even the guild staff arrived, wide-eyed.

"Lowest rank… extra… defeated… an enormous magical boar… alone?" the receptionist stammered."He… he's officially our strongest adventurer," a junior guild member admitted.

Empoy shrugged lazily. "Quietly done. No fuss."

Feast on the Boar

The village organized a feast that night. The boar was roasted over an open flame, seasoned with herbs, and shared among everyone.

Empoy sat quietly in a corner, tinkering with a small mana-thread coil, occasionally nibbling on meat.

Kiko loudly raised his mug. "To Empoy! The strongest adventurer of Bran Village!"

The villagers cheered. Lina nervously clapped, Bram silently nodded, and the guild receptionist facepalmed, muttering, "How do we manage this man?!"

Empoy yawned. "Quiet life… maintained. Feast… perfect."

Lightning flickered faintly across his fingertips as he adjusted a small gadget under the table.

Protector. Inventor. Accidental legend.Bran Village… quietly safe.
