Nobody said it directly.

That was the thing. The conversation that would have required saying it directly never happened, because by the time it would have needed to happen, the thing was already simply true, and saying it directly would have been like stopping to announce that the sun had risen, accurate but unnecessary given that everyone could see it.

It started with small things.

The books.

Mira had arrived with one bag. The bag had been the size of something you brought for a visit of several weeks, which was what they had all understood it to be. But sometime in the second week, more books arrived. Not many. A small stack, sent from the Temple's archive at Mira's request, the specific texts she and Caelum had been working through together, the ones she had mentioned did not exist anywhere else.

The books needed somewhere to go.

Caelum built a shelf.
