Ficool

Prologue

Where there is light, darkness must also exist; none is allowed to outrun the other.

After the first creation, the Almighty sought to keep things equal by sending down a source of light and darkness —each to the human world.

His aim was to set the balance between good and evil.

The great source of light shared his powers to the five invincible guardians known as the "Hantiphans". While the Dark source, ever offentious, shared his powers with four invincible menaces known as the "Xiphorus".

He offered the last portion of his powers to demonic phantoms; his objective ever unknown.

For generations, the Hantiphans and Xiphorus have come together, joining forces to defeat the army of rebels who threatened the balance of power in the world.

Suzanne turned the last page of the story book,

"And that is why they are called the Hanxi."

Six-year-old Varli's eyes lit up. He rolled over the duvet his mother had carefully tucked him into earlier.

"That's so cool!" He shouted excitedly, already picturing the Hanxis in his little mind. The thought of them dressed in shiny long cloaks laced with accessories made him giggle.

Suzanne laughed, patting his head. "Right. And you know what could make it even cooler?.."

Varli pouted.

He knew this trick more than he could recall his own name. This was the moment she'd say something like:

"... getting to bed early." His mother said, excitedly.

He couldn't help but roll his eyes.

" Right." He muttered, laying back down.

She kissed him goodnight before turning over to turn off the lamp light.

"Mommy.." Varli muttered, half asleep. "Are these guys.. Hanshis..." he rolled over and turned to face her.

"Are they real?

" It's Hanxi." Suzanne corrected, patting his head. "And no, they're not real. But legend insists otherwise. Now go to sleep." She said, before Varli could argue further.

" Night night, mommy." He whispered, half asleep. "But I really want to become a Hanxi... Someday..."

" What an odd thing to say, Varli."
