Chapter 2 - First Day After Marriage

That day Eva and Kyel got married. Their wedding was simple and quiet.

No grand hall. No guests. No family members to offer blessings.

It was just him and her, standing side by side, exchanging vows.

(The Wedding Night )

Eva sat on the edge of the bed, her hands clenched in her lap. The room was dim, lit only by a single candle that flickered softly against the walls.

Her heart was beating so loudly She placed a hand over her chest, trying to steady her breath.

"I'm nervous," she whispered to herself. "I don't know if I can do this… We never shared a kiss not even when we took our vows."

She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.

"Eva," she murmured, forcing courage into her trembling voice, "don't be afraid. You can do this."

Just then, the bedroom door opened. Kyel stepped inside.

Eva stood up immediately, her movements stiff with unease.

"K-Kyel," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.

He walked toward her slowly. When he stopped in front of her, their eyes met. Kyel lifted his hand and gently cupped her face, his touch warm and careful.

He leaned closer. His breath brushed against her lips. Kyel closed his eyes, and his lips lightly touched hers—

Eva flinched.

Her lips trembled beneath his, and the moment shattered.

Kyel pulled away at once, concern filling his expression.

"Princess," he asked softly, "are you alright?"

Eva nodded, though her hands were shaking. "Yes… I'm okay."

Kyel studied her face for a long moment, then pulled her into his arms, holding her gently.

"Don't push yourself," he murmured.

"Kyel…" Eva whispered, her voice breaking. "I'm just little afraid."

He lifted a hand and stroked her hair slowly, soothingly.

"Don't be afraid," he said. "I won't touch you. Not until you're ready."

She tightened her grip on his clothes. "Can you… wait?"

"I can wait," Kyel replied without hesitation.

He pulled back slightly and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.

"You must be tired," he said. "Let's sleep."

Kyel lifted her in his arms carefully and laid her down on the bed. He sat beside her, gently stroking her hair until her breathing slowly calmed.

He smiled down at her. "Good night."

Eva returned his smile, her fear easing just a little. "Good night."

And that night, no boundaries were crossed—Only trust was quietly built.

(Next Morning)

Eva woke slowly, warmth lingering beneath her skin. She turned her head—and the space beside her was empty.

"…Kyel?" she called.

"In the kitchen, princess," his voice replied from downstairs.

Her lips curved into a small smile. She rose from the bed and made her way down, following the quiet clatter of utensils and the comforting scent of something sweet.

Kyel stood at the stove, sleeves rolled up, hair slightly tousled,.

"Good morning honey," Eva said softly.

He turned and smiled at her. "Good morning, princess....Did you sleep well?"

"Yes," she answered, then glanced toward the stove. "What are you making?"

"Your favorite pancakes."

Her eyes brightened. "I'm already hungry."

"Go take a bath first," Kyel said with a faint smile. "We'll eat after."

She nodded and did as he said.

------------------------------------------------------------

Eva sat at the dining table as Kyel placed a plate of pancakes in front of her. He sat across from her.

She frowned slightly. "Kyel… where's your plate? Aren't you going to eat?"

"No," he replied simply. "You eat. I'm not hungry."

Eva picked up her fork. One bite in, her expression softened.

"Mmm… it's so good," she said sincerely. "Kyel, you really have magic in your hands."

He lifted an eyebrow. "Is that so?"

"Yes," she said, then lifted a small piece to offer him. "You should try it too it's tasty."

As she did, a bit of cream smeared onto her fingers. "Oh—," Eva murmured. "I got cream on my hand."

She lifted her fingers to lick the cream—

Kyel caught her wrist.

Eva froze.

He leaned closer, his gaze darkening slightly as it lingered on her fingers… then her lips… then her eyes. Slowly—deliberately—he leaned in and licked the cream from her skin.

A shiver ran through her. "You're right," he said quietly. "It's tasty."

Eva's face turned red as she shouted, "Kyel! What are you doing?!"

He tilted his head, looking genuinely puzzled.

"Princess, what's wrong?"

"You—you shouldn't lick my fingers," she said quickly, then blurted out without thinking, "You have… better things to lick."

The moment the words left her mouth, she realized what she had said.

Kyel's eyes darkened slightly. "And what would those better things be?" he asked calmly.

Eva's mind betrayed her.

For a split second, she imagined his mouth lower—much lower—his tongue tracing warmth. The thought was sudden, vivid, and completely improper for a breakfast table.

Heat rushed to her face.

Kyel noticed immediately. "Your cheeks are red," he said, amused. "Just what are you thinking about, princess?"

"N-Nothing," Eva replied too fast, dropping her gaze.

Kyel smiled knowingly. "Alright. Finish your breakfast before it gets cold."

Relieved, Eva picked up her fork and began to eat, trying to calm her racing heart.

Then Kyel spoke again, his voice lazy, dangerous.

"You know," he said, "I really want to lick the things you were thinking about."

Eva choked instantly. "Cough—!"

Kyel was on his feet in a second, moving behind her and gently stroking her back.

"Easy. Are you alright?"

She nodded weakly, still coughing.

He handed her a glass of water. "Here. Drink."

Eva took several gulps before she could breathe properly.

Kyel sighed lightly. "I didn't realize you'd choke just because I said I wanted to lick ice cream."

Eva froze and looked up at him. "…Ice cream?

Kyel pointed toward the small bowl of ice cream on the kitchen counter. "Yes there..ice cream."

"You were talking about ice cream?" Eva said.

"Yes...what else I'll be thinking about licking? You were thinking about ice cream too, right?"

She stared at him, then nodded quickly.n"Y-Yes. Ice cream. That's exactly what I was thinking about too."

Kyel smiled. "Good," he said gently. "Now eat slowly. I don't want you choking again."

Eva nodded and continued eating, her face still warm.

Across the table, Kyel watched her quietly.

--------------------------------------------------------

After breakfast, Kyel changed into his work clothes. The sound of boots and fabric shifting echoed softly through the house.

Eva watched from distance as he reached for the front door.

"Princess," Kyel said gently, "I'm leaving."

She stepped closer. "Kyel—wait."

She hesitated for a heartbeat, then smiled shyly. "Come here."

He turned back and walked toward her.

Eva rose onto her toes and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek. Her lips lingered for just a second before she pulled back.

"Take care," she said.

Kyel smiled. Then he leaned in and kissed her cheek in return, his lips warm against her skin. He lowered his voice, whispering close to her ear— "I love you."

Eva's face flushed instantly. "I love you too."

"Bye," Kyel said.

"Bye."

The door closed behind him with a soft click.

Eva stood there for a moment, staring at the door. Then unable to hold it in any longer.

She jumped in place, excitement bubbling over. Placing a hand over her wildly beating heart, she laughed quietly to herself.

"So… this is what it feels like to be married."
