Chapter 2 - Blood on her hands

Daisy stared through the car window at her grandmother standing alone on the driveway.

A lone tears slipped down her cheeks but she quickly wiped it away.

Her grandmother stepped closer, her frail hands reaching through the window to clasp Daisy's trembling fingers.

"It is going be alright, dear, just take a deep breath" she whispered.

"Grandma, I am scared and nervous" Daisy sobbed.

The tears now flowing down uncontrollably.

Her grandmother reached her hand in her face and wiped the tears away.

"It is going to be fine, I promise you so I have to fulfill it. Don't worry I will visit you always, you will visit me back right?" She asked.

"Yes grandma, I will" Daisy promised and held her hand tight.

"Can't you come with me, please?" She pleaded, her fingers clutching desperately.

"Sorry dear but you have to go alone, I will visit you tomorrow, okay"

"Okay ma, I'mgoing to miss you"

"Same here, Daisy"

They just stared at each for a moment savouring the moment.

"I got something for you, Daisy" her grandmother said and brought out something from her bag.

Daisy's eyes widened. A soft gasp escaped from her lips as she stared at the single flower on her grandmother's hand.

"So that you won't feel alone" her grandmother murmured.

"Thanks" she said and collected the flower from her.

"Be safe dear" her grandmother murmured and stepped backwards.

Daisy smiled at her and then closed the window, she held the single flower like it was something fragile.

She brought it closer to her nose and took a deep breath. It's fragrance filled her nose and she closed her eyes savouring the smell.

When she reopened her eyes, a new sense of determination and bravery flashed in her eyes.

She looked at the window and smiled at her grandmother.

"You can drive now" she told the driver.

"Okay ma" the driver replied starting the engine.

As the car pulled away, Daisy didn't look back again.

She didn't need to.

The drive to the destination was longer than Daisy expected.

But then finally the car halted at a very large gate designed with flowers and stone.

"We are here, ma" the driver announced looking at Daisy through the rearview mirror.

"Thank you" Daisy smiled at him, opened the car and stepped out.

She stared at the gate for a few minutes before she mustered the courage to walk to the gate and knock.

There was no answer but as she wanted to knock the second time, the gate slowly opened on it own.

Daisy's eyes widened as she stepped inside.

Before her stood a magnificent mansion towering and elegant with a wide balconies and talk glass windows that reflected the sunlight.

A large fountain decorated the front yard, water spilling gracefully from one level to another while birds occasionally perched on it's edges.

Daisy walked towards the mansion, her eyes taking in all the beautiful things around her.

As she reached the front door, she slowly knocked on the door.

She heard footsteps approaching and she took a deep breath waiting for the door to open.

The door knob turned and a girl almost the same age as her with brown eyes and black hair stood at the door glaring at her.

Daisy's face brightened with a smile

"I'm Daisy" she introduced.

The girl just grunted and walked back into the house.

_she will warm up to me soon_ Daisy thought

Daisy dragged her bag into the house following the girl.

Her eyes widened in shock and get mouth hung open as she took in the interior design of the house. It was screaming luxury and classic.

"Daisy !" Someone called and she whipped her head around.

A man stood at the start of the stairway staring at her wearing a smile.

The dark green eyes and black hair already told Daisy what she needed to know.

Then the man walked towards her while Daisy prepared herself mentally.

"Good morning, Mr Williams" she greeted when the man got close to her.

"Good morning, Daisy, how are you doing?"

"I am fine, Sir, thank you"

"Welcome to my home which is your home now" he began.

"I know it is a lot to take it but I can assure you that I will protect you at all cost and treat you well. Feel free to do anything you like and don't hesitate to ask me for anything. You can call me Mr Will or father, anyone you want us okay with me" he finished.

"Okay sir, I understand" Daisy replied.

Calling her supposed biological father who she found about last week 'father' is a bit too much for her now.

"Come and meet your mother and sister, they are so excited to meet you" the man.

Daisy followed him.

They walked up the stairway and entered a room.

The room was tastefully furnished wity expensive furniture.

On the couch sat a woman with the girl that Daisy saw earlier at the door.

"Is this her?" The woman asked Mr Williams.

"Yes, she just arrived now" he replied.

Then he turned to Daisy, "Daisy, this is my wife Beatrice and my daughter Janet,"

"Honey, Janet, this is Daisy" Mr Williams introduced.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs Williams, Janet" Daisy greeted with a smile.

"Same here" Mrs Williams replied, faking a smile.

"Join us for tea" she offered.

"Okay, thank you ma"

"Well I will leave you ladies to talk, I have to go somewhere" Mr Williams said and left the room.

"Come and seat, child"

Daisy went closer and sat down on the couch beside the woman.

"Pour Daisy some tea, Janet"

Janet glared at Daisy before reaching for the tea pot on the table beside her and poured the tea on a cup.

"Here you go" she held the cup to Daisy.

Daisy reached her hand to collect it, but just as her fingers touched the cup.

Janet let the cup go and the hot liquid poured Daisy on her hand.

The hot tea burned her hand and Daisy gasped softly, pulling her hand away quickly.

Her eyes watering from the slight sting.

Janet just leaned back causally as if nothing had happened.

Since that day Daisy was severely maltreated by her mother and sister, they make sure to remind her everyday that she doesn't belong there.

But when her father is around, they pretend to love her and turns to their real selves when he is not around.

Daisy endured all those maltreatments hoping that they will warm up to her one day.

And she now finally experience the family lives she once lacked.

One Friday, Janet came to her room and offered making up.

Daisy agreed to and to seal it, Janet suggested they went out.

At the bar, Janet offered Daisy alcoholic drinks and she took it without thinking twice.

By the time they had to go home, Daisy was already wasted that she could barely walk.

She didn't even remember how she got home that day.

The next morning, Daisy woke up feeling a heavy headache with her body soaked.

_why am I soaked_

She thought before opening her eyes and saw that she was lying on the floor.

Her legs were lying on a large pool of red liquid and her clothes were even soaked with it.

She stood up quickly and looked scanned the room. A loud gasp escaped her lips when she sighted the body five feet away from here.

"Oh no, oh no, it can't be" she muttered, squinting at the body.

She was still in shock when the door opened and her mother and sister walked into the room with some policemen.

"That's her, the murderer that killed my husband" Mrs Williams sobbed pointing at Daisy.

Daisy's eyes widened in shock and confusion, her eyes went back to the body and her heart sank into her stomach.

_so this is my father's corpse, but it can't be_

Tears welled in her eyes and it it began to flow down uncontrollably and her body trembled.

One of the policemen stepped closer to Daisy with a pair handcuffs.

"You are under arrest Miss Daisy Rose, for the murder of Mr Williams. You have the right to remain silent or anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law" he stated and clicked the handcuffs on Daisy's hand.

As he led her away, Daisy looked once more at her father's lifeless body.

Her heart pounded in fear.

She believes she was innocent...but no one else will.
