Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Stunning Fudge and the Pink Toad

In a sense, Basil was now the richest person in the wizarding world.

[Gringotts Wizarding Bank] was lit up in his mind.

Although this wealth wasn't recognized in [Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes].

He could transfer Galleons and treasures from other people's vaults into his own account.

Just like he could now easily retrieve the Horcrux, Hufflepuff's Cup, from the Lestrange family vault.

Or empty the Malfoy family vault with a single thought.

But unfortunately, he couldn't do that right now.

The reason so many wizards deposited money in [Gringotts] was entirely because of its security and integrity. Even if a whole family went to prison, the Ministry of Magic couldn't touch a Knut in their vault; they could only confiscate properties under their name.

It was better to withdraw small amounts over a long period.

And he wouldn't be discovered.

After all, Death Eater families like the Lestranges were all in Azkaban.

The goblins only did inventory every few decades.

But if he really emptied the Death Eaters' vaults all at once...

It would just be a one-time deal.

Other wizards wouldn't feel safe depositing their gold in [Gringotts] anymore.

Voldemort might also realize the secret of his Horcruxes had been exposed and move them to a new hiding place because their location wasn't safe.

In that case, unless Basil learned some magic in another world that could locate other Horcruxes through one of them...

Even if he could solo-kill Voldemort, he would be constantly harassed by this shameless piece of trash who bullied young people and killed babies.

Another pity was that the Ukrainian Ironbelly, the largest of all dragon breeds, guarding the lowest vaults, was blind.

Otherwise, he could have made another card.

The remaining unlit areas worked the same way as [Hogsmeade Village].

Only the public areas—streets, parks, etc.—were under his control.

Everything else required Gems to activate.

But some weren't really worth lighting up.

The shops, items, and even the people in [Knockturn Alley] were an eyesore.

[Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour] extended its seating outside, [Eeylops Owl Emporium] just had owls, and shops like [Potage's Cauldron Shop], [Twilfitt and Tattings], and [Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop]... he could just buy things there with money.

The truly valuable ones were [12 Grimmauld Place], [St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries], [Magical Menagerie], [Daily Prophet Main Office], and the [Ministry of Magic].

[12 Grimmauld Place] contained the legacy of the ancient and noble House of Black and the Horcrux, Slytherin's Locket.

[St Mungo's] had the most comprehensive healing spells, records of all magical accidents and treatments in the wizarding world, and various potions.

The magical creatures in the [Magical Menagerie] could serve as a素材庫 (material library) for future Summon Cards.

The [Daily Prophet Main Office] allowed him to see raw, unprocessed news circulating within the largest newspaper in the British wizarding world.

And the [Ministry of Magic] went without saying.

The center of power in the wizarding world.

After lighting it up, he could casually cast a [Killing Curse] from his dormitory in [Hogwarts] to kill people like Fudge or that pink toad Umbridge.

Not to mention Lucius Malfoy sometimes went to see Fudge to bribe him with political donations.

If Basil cast a [Killing Curse] at that moment...

He could become Draco's stepfather ahead of schedule.

Voldemort, for revenge, might even thank him for killing Fudge, that stick-in-the-mud, on Dumbledore's behalf.

Moreover, the legendary [Department of Mysteries] would unveil its secrets to him.

Its various chambers: the [Brain Room], the [Space Chamber], the [Death Chamber], the [Time Room], the [Hall of Prophecy], and the [Love Room]... just hearing the names was fascinating.

The top research wizards in Britain were in this department, studying the profound mysteries of magic (Death, Time, Space, Thought, and Love).

Thinking of this, he excitedly extended his will toward the Ministry of Magic on the map.

[Bzzzt... Spend 10,000 Gems to activate [Ministry of Magic]?]

Damn it! Stupid system! You have no conscience!

Why is it so expensive!

It's all Netease; they talk about updating new maps every day.

But they delay it every day.

They haven't even finished [Hogsmeade Village].

Let alone [London].

In the wind and snow, Basil sat at a covered table outside Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour, spooning chocolate and raspberry ice cream with chopped nuts. The smile on his face vanished, and he lost control of his expression.

He took a deep breath and tried zooming in on the map. The words [Ministry of Magic] disappeared.

Replaced by ten floors, with corresponding names floating above them: [Minister for Magic's Office and Support Staff], [Department of Magical Law Enforcement], [Department of Magical Games and Sports], [Atrium]... [Wizengamot Courtrooms].

Basil had a thought.

[Bzzzt... Spend 500 Gems to activate [Minister for Magic's Office and Support Staff]?]

[Spend 2,000 Gems to activate [Department of Mysteries]?]

[Spend 1,300 Gems to activate [Department of Magical Transportation]?]

"Yes."

Gems: 30,075.635 (-3,800)

In his mind, the fog suddenly cleared over a desolate little street near the Westminster tube station in central London (identical to the real world), revealing a dilapidated red telephone booth.

Inside that magnificent underground structure, everything on the first, sixth, and ninth floors appeared clearly in Basil's mind.

Scanning quickly, a short, portly man with messy gray hair, wearing a hodgepodge of clothes—pinstriped suit, bright red tie, long black cloak, pointed purple boots, and a lime-green bowler hat—suddenly appeared "in front" of him. It was Fudge.

"Working on Sunday? Hmm, waiting for a meeting."

Shifting his gaze, he arrived at the [Senior Undersecretary to the Minister's Office].

A room full of cat elements came into view: ornamental plates with colorful kittens wearing bows frolicking on them lined the walls.

A woman with a pale, toad-like face and pouchy, protruding eyes was napping on a desk covered in frilly cloths, doilies, and dried flowers.

Her short, squat figure, curly mouse-brown hair, large pink bow, and the fluffy pink cardigan she wore over her robes made her exceptionally conspicuous.

"She's way uglier than in the movie!" Basil just wanted to poke out his eyes after seeing this woman who was clearly Umbridge.

Hand reaching for his wand, he fired a Stupefy controlled within a safe limit.

It forked at the tip of his wand, emerging from the air behind Fudge and Umbridge's heads respectively, and struck both of them.

"Let's just activate the [Ministry of Magic] parts for now; save the rest for later."

"Hmm, time to go." Basil stood up.

He walked into the pristine white snow and vanished into thin air the next second.

Hiding his merit and fame.

In the now-empty dormitory, Basil appeared.

With a thought...

The winter robe shed the snow and moisture and hung itself automatically in the wardrobe.

The black robe underneath, bearing the Gryffindor crest and Hogwarts emblem, was exposed to the air again.

First-year student Basil Granger appeared once more.

The door was pushed open, and Harry walked in, stretching lazily.

He rubbed his eyes. "Basil, when did you get back?"

Basil shrugged. "When did I ever leave?"

No one knew that he had just left Hogwarts.

Traveled thousands of miles to Diagon Alley, and stunned Fudge and Umbridge.

Causing the Ministry of Magic to spend the next week discussing the embarrassment of the two falling asleep in their offices and missing a meeting with the International Confederation of Wizards.

And afterwards, their frequent, inexplicable fainting spells strangely made the Ministry operate much more efficiently.
