Chapter 68 - Chapter 68: Bailing Out Dominic

In the afternoon, outside the Los Angeles Police Department.

Hunter leaned against his car, lit a cigarette, and smoked it leisurely.

Mia had already woken up around noon today.

Nonetheless, Hunter didn't let Mia come along to the police station this afternoon to pick up Dominic and the others.

He had already paid the bail, but there was still some paperwork required to release them from the station.

Therefore, Hunter left the station first and waited outside.

He leaned against the car, seemingly smoking casually.

In reality, he was carefully observing his surroundings, searching for where the person secretly watching him was located.

Shortly after leaving the police station, Hunter sensed a gaze fixed on him.

However, despite searching for a long time, he couldn't find the source of that gaze.

Of course, Hunter wasn't without his suspicions.

While surveillance cameras weren't ubiquitous in the US, this was the Los Angeles Police Department.

Naturally, there would be no shortage of surveillance equipment nearby.

In a short while, Hunter discovered at least three surveillance cameras capable of observing his vicinity.

However, he was mentally prepared for the fact that helping Dominic would lead to him being noticed.

Thus, Hunter didn't make a deliberate effort to hide.

Because from the moment he agreed to Mia's request to help rescue Dominic,

Hunter knew he would definitely be targeted by the FBI.

After waiting for nearly an hour, he finally saw the main entrance of the Los Angeles Police Department.

Four young men and women walked out, including one with a large bald head.

It was precisely Dominic and his girlfriend, Letty.

Along with two companions and subordinates!

Hunter's car was parked in the temporary parking area across from the police station.

Therefore, as soon as Dominic and the others walked out of the station doors,

Standing on the high steps and looking down, they immediately saw Hunter leaning against a van, smoking.

"Dom!"

Letty was the first to see Hunter, and she lightly patted her boyfriend's back.

Dominic looked in the direction her other hand was pointing.

He soon saw Hunter, and a trace of a smile couldn't help but appear on his originally somewhat somber face.

"Hi!"

The group quickly walked down, and Dominic took the initiative to extend his hand to him.

"Thanks!"

He was still as taciturn as ever, but Hunter could see that Dominic no longer harbored any hostility toward him.

Dominic's girlfriend, Letty, also smiled and patted Hunter.

"Kid, not bad!"

Yesterday, when a lawyer came to apply for a brief meeting with them and informed Dominic and the others that they would help handle the bail application,

Dominic and the group knew this was certainly not something Mia could have accomplished.

After all, although Mia was now eighteen,

Just last year, she was actually still in high school, a young high school girl.

After she dropped out, although Dominic helped Mia open a coffee shop,

It was limited to that; he had never let Mia get involved in the things he was doing.

So, when the lawyer appeared and easily handled the bail for them,

Dominic and the others knew this was definitely not something Mia could pull off.

Seeing Hunter now, Dominic suddenly had a realization.

Initially, they had been wondering if Mia had found Vince and the others.

Vince and several others had been recuperating in the hospital recently because they had been taught a lesson by Hunter earlier.

Consequently, Vince and the others were naturally unable to participate in the underground car race that led to the group being arrested a while ago.

Hunter shook Dominic's extended hand and also nodded at Letty with a smile.

"This isn't the place to talk, let's head back first."

"Mia is waiting for you at home!"

Although he wasn't well-acquainted with the other two arrested with Dominic, he recognized them.

Jesse and Leon were also among Dominic's subordinates.

The two of them, along with Vince and the others, formed the core of Dominic's team.

After Vince and the others were injured by Hunter, Jesse and Leon were the last pillars of Dominic's core team.

So, after they were all arrested together,

Mia didn't even have a single person left to turn to for help.

That was why she had sought out Hunter.

Dominic and the others clearly knew this as well.

Because their cars involved illegal modifications,

They had to be impounded at the police station for a while. They could only be reclaimed once the configurations were restored to stock.

So, in order to pick them up,

Hunter had gone to Old Parker's place before coming to temporarily borrow a van.

Fortunately, Dominic and the others weren't the type to care about such things.

Nodding, the group quickly filed into the car, and Hunter drove them home.

Inside the Los Angeles Police Department, in a surveillance room.

Brian, his body wrapped in bandages, followed behind several senior FBI Agents.

They were looking at the surveillance footage together, which showed Hunter picking up Dominic and the others.

"This person—Brian, do you know him?"

One of the Black agents suddenly pointed at Hunter on the screen and asked Brian.

Brian frowned as he looked at the somewhat blurry image of Hunter.

He felt like the guy looked familiar, but he couldn't recall where he had seen him for the moment.

He shook his head: "I seem to have some impression of him, but I can't remember where I've seen him before."

"Is there such a person among Dominic's men?"

"Is he in the FBI's files?"

The Black agent shook his head: "No, there are no asians in Dominic's core team."

"Detective Inspector, does your Los Angeles Police Department have any information on this person?"

Hearing this, a middle-aged Caucasian man immediately replied: "Yes, though not much."

"His name is Hunter Sun, he's only 18 years old, and he's a Chinese-American."

"This kid is the one who hired the lawyer to bail out Dominic and the others."

"The LAPD has already investigated!"

"We have no criminal record related to him on our end."

"Furthermore, the lawyer he hired is very troublesome and knows several state senators."

"Therefore, since you cannot provide evidence proving that Dominic and his crew are the California Highway Bandits, we can only detain them for a maximum of forty-eight hours."

In the US, powerful'shyster' lawyers mostly have some background and connections.

The FBI people understood the LAPD's helplessness very well.

But Brian was somewhat irritable: "Captain, according to my investigation during this period, Dominic and his crew meet almost all the criteria for the California Highway Bandits."

"The cars we temporarily impounded this time,"

"Are the same models as the cars that appeared in several highway robberies."

"I have reason to suspect that Dominic and the others are the California Highway Bandits."
