Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Night Walk

Ravenclaw dormitory.

He looked back at his roommate, Terry, confirming that he was still sound asleep.

Lucien stroked Glimmer, who was now the size of a house cat, while reading Newt's reply.

"The expansion of space lies in the nodes inscribed by the Undetectable Extension Charm…"

Sure enough, different permutation and combination rules led to significant differences in their impact on space.

If he were to try and explore it little by little himself, it would definitely be a very slow accumulative process.

But now with Newt's guidance, many problems were directly solved.

He could start trying to refine Undetectable Extension items, which would be even more convenient once they could hold living creatures.

Was this the depth of family heritage? Both the Potter Family's Potion alchemy and the Scamander Family's Undetectable Extension possessed extremely unique knowledge and skills.

Lucien caressed the letter, having to admit that in terms of magical heritage, ancient Wizard families were indeed enviable.

Hmm, Harry could still lend him some magic books.

But if he could borrow family magic books from several more classmates, it would definitely be better.

Knowledge, after all, is never too much.

When he read that Newt had politely declined his request to trade for Erumpent Exploding Fluid, Lucien frowned.

He wouldn't blame the other party, because Newt's reason was very sufficient: it was best to have some understanding of magical creatures, and Newt was acting entirely out of good intentions.

Lucien pulled out a thick stack of notes and material, all of which were observation records of Mooncalves, Diricawls, Acromantulas, and Puffskeins.

Looking at this pile of paper, which was almost half his height, he should be considered to have some understanding, right?

If he made a copy of these documents and sent them to Newt, could he convince him that he actually possessed some knowledge of magical creatures?

He could also record information on other magical creatures to increase credibility.

For example, that Cerberus; although there was only one individual, the recorded information was not enough to meet the loan requirements, but it would be enough to send to Newt.

In that case, he could also make another trip to the Forbidden Forest to see if he could find another Unicorn; information on such a magical creature would probably be more convincing.

"Glimmer, can you tell me about your interaction with Mr. Newt?"

The Lumina recounted the entire process in detail, from knocking on the door to politely saying goodbye and closing the door upon leaving.

As he listened, the smile on Lucien's face grew wider.

Newt actually managed to resist closely observing the Lumina, even though its appearance clearly indicated a rare, even unknown, magical creature.

Although Newt was a very socially awkward person, he should be very enthusiastic about magical creatures.

Uh, could it be that Glimmer acted too intelligently, and his communication was too human-like?

And Newt was encountering him for the first time, unfamiliar and unknown, so his social awkwardness took over?

"Glimmer, the next time you help me deliver a letter to Mr. Newt, try to chat with him briefly; he should be very interested in you."

Lucien put away the letter and looked at the moonlight.

Perhaps he should go find the Cerberus tonight, observe and record it, and also get some blood to refine Potions.

"Let's go, I'll take you to see something fun."

Putting Glimmer into his pet space, Lucien left the dormitory and the Ravenclaw common room.

Let the first night stroll in Hogwarts Castle begin.

...

Lucien, under the Disillusionment Charm and cloak oil, strolled leisurely through the Castle.

He walked through corridors and climbed stairs.

Recalling the route Hermione had disclosed, Lucien proceeded unimpeded towards the room where the Cerberus was located.

"Meow—"

A gaunt, dark-grey cat appeared at the other end of the corridor.

It stared with its bulbous yellow eyes, constantly scanning, seemingly searching for young Wizards violating the night curfew.

And following behind it was a thin old man with long, straw-colored hair.

The old man carried an oil lamp, his eyes also wide open, patrolling the Castle at night just like the cat.

Lucien did not hide or retreat; he simply walked past naturally.

The man and the cat completely failed to notice Lucien's presence and passed right by him.

Lucien shook his head. After concealing his form and masking his sound and scent, an ordinary house cat simply couldn't detect him.

Heh heh, the school explicitly forbade students from being out at night, yet they sent a Squib who couldn't use magic to catch students.

Was this really not encouraging students to be out at night?

He reached the door of a room.

"Alohomora."

After unlocking the door, Lucien pulled out a can of Sleeping Draught from his pocket, lit it, and gently tossed it into the room.

He waited patiently for two or three minutes for the Sleeping Draught to take full effect.

Putting on a refreshing clear mask, Lucien then entered the room.

At the same time, he lightly waved his wand, casting a soundproofing spell over the entire room.

This way, no one outside would hear the commotion inside.

Lucien tapped his wand again, transforming a dusty lamp stand in the room into a violin.

As Lucien advanced, the violin began to play beautiful, soft music automatically.

Amidst the scent of orchids and the violin music, the snoring gradually deepened.

Lucien looked towards the source of the snoring.

A massive, pitch-black giant dog with three ferocious heads.

It was currently sprawled in the center of the room, with viscous drool slowly dripping from its three mouths.

Fluffy, Hagrid's pet Cerberus.

It loved music; the more beautiful the music, the more relaxed the Cerberus became.

Lucien nodded. Under the combined effect of the music and the improved Sleeping Draught, Fluffy should be in a very deep sleep.

Hmm, but he couldn't let his guard down.

Waving his wand, Lucien cast several layers of Protego and Impedimenta, along with other protective spells, on himself.

Then he released the Lumina from his space.

"Glimmer, keep an eye out for me."

"Yes, Master."

Lucien took out paper and a pen, starting by recording the Cerberus's physical characteristics…

After a brief recording, Lucien took out an iron bottle.

He would draw a little more blood; he hadn't refined adhesive before, so there would likely be some loss and waste.

His wand tip pointed at the Cerberus's hind leg, and a very tiny incision opened.

He slowly drew the blood out, guiding it steadily towards the bottle's opening.

Just then, Fluffy's nose twitched, and its previously relaxed body suddenly tensed, as if startled awake and sensing the presence of an unknown intruder.

Its wild and ferocious instincts made the Cerberus not hesitate; without even opening its eyes, it opened its gaping maw and bit.

However, the Cerberus's teeth, faintly wreathed in dark mist, had not yet touched the protective spells around Lucien.

A swift golden shadow flew out from beside Lucien, directly knocking the Cerberus away.

Lucien put away the bottle and continued to record with his pen:

Cerberus.

Sensitive perception…

As three furious barks erupted, countless blazing golden flames roared, instantly filling the entire room.

Lucien, standing calmly within the fiery golden sea, continued to write, his quill unharmed by the flames.

Hearing the continuous painful whimpers, Lucien put down his pen.

"Glimmer, that's enough."
