Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 — Resolving past grudges II

Immediately, the soldiers snapped to alert. Weapons came up. Eyes darted through the trees, searching for the unseen attacker.

A beat later, Qin Feng dropped from the tree.

Mid-fall, he shot three arrows—swift, deadly, and unerring. Each pierced through flesh and bone, felling their targets before they could even react.

He landed heavily atop a soldier at the rear, the impact crushing neck and spine in a single, brutal motion.

Before the body even finished collapsing, Qin Feng seized the leg of the soldier to his right and swung him like a weapon. Bones shattered. Bodies flew. Using the man as a bludgeon, he smashed through the ranks, killing over twenty soldiers in moments.

Then he saw it—

a tight formation of fifty spearmen advancing together, spearheads leveled, ready to skewer him.

Qin Feng hurled his "weapon" straight into the front line. The body slammed into the spearmen, tearing open a gap in their formation.

He dropped his bow and surged into the gap.

Snatching a spear mid-charge, Qin Feng unleashed a killing frenzy. Each sweep was violent and absolute—men caught within range were torn apart, their ends gruesome and final.

The spear finally shattered under the strain.

At the same instant, a captain lunged at him with a heavy halberd.

Qin Feng sidestepped and sent a punch into the man's chest. The impact sent him flying, the halberd ripped from his grip.

Qin Feng caught it mid-air.

What followed was a bloodbath.

Heads flew. Bones cracked. Chests collapsed. Limbs were reduced to pulp beneath the halberd's tyrannical arcs.

Every swing carried unstoppable force. Parry, dodge, resist—it didn't matter. Each soldier met the same fate: broken, crushed, or dismembered.

Ten minutes later—

WHAM!

A massive wolf-tooth mace slammed into Qin Feng, forcing him back several steps before he regained his footing.

"Fire!" a gruff voice barked.

A rain of arrows followed.

Qin Feng ripped up the largest corpse nearby and raised it as a shield. Arrows thudded into flesh, turning the body into a pincushion. The few that struck Qin Feng directly bounced off harmlessly, unable to pierce his skin.

He planted the halberd butt-first into the ground, seized a cleaver from a fallen soldier, and hurled it.

The mace-wielder dodged nimbly.

The spinning cleaver continued on—plowing through the archers behind him and killing or dismembering at least ten in a single pass.

Qin Feng dropped the corpse and looked up.

The man who had struck him stepped forward.

It was the commander—the one who had ridden in the sedan.

Tall. Broad. A frame that suggested overwhelming strength… yet his earlier dodge betrayed sharp agility.

"Boy," the commander said coldly, glaring at him. "We meet again. You actually made it this far."

His gaze swept over the carnage, a sneer tugging at his lips.

"It seems you were lucky enough to awaken the Innate Divine Strength physique."

Then his expression hardened.

"But luck does not equal wisdom. You could have slipped past us and reached your fortress undetected… yet here you stand. Brave—"

He raised his mace.

"—but foolish."

Behind him, the archers readied another volley. Spearmen began moving to encircle Qin Feng.

"Did you really think," the commander roared, "that awakening the same physique as mine would be enough?!"

Like an unspoken signal.

Arrows flew.

Qin Feng seized two smaller corpses and raised them as shields, perfectly shielding against the rain of arrows.

Soon enough, the arrow storm halted.

He immediately shifted his grip and hurled both bodies into the advancing spearmen, scattering them. Then he ripped the halberd free and charged the right flank.

With tyrannical strength and elite precision, he began another killing spree. Brutal, precise and most importantly, unstoppable.

The archers dared not fire for fear of hitting their own men—but that did not spare them. Between kills, Qin Feng ripped spears from the fallen and hurled them at the archers.

Two —and sometimes three— soldiers skewered at a time.

One of the thrown spears ended up hitting the last surviving general, piercing straight through the chest. Killing him instantly.

Seeing this, the commander roared in fury and charged.

"You bastard! You've killed my most trusted general!"

Qin Feng smiled faintly.

"So, you're done waiting for me to tire out?"

The commander answered only with a roar as he charged at him. Once within range, he swung his mace down with full, two-handed force—enough to turn a man into paste.

Then—

SQUELCH!

BANG!

The commander froze.

In the instant the mace descended, Qin Feng had thrust the halberd forward—piercing his torso—while his free hand diverted the mace aside, sending it crashing into the ground.

"I… im… impossible…" Blood spilled from the commander's mouth. "How…?"

Same physique. Same strength.

He had expected a brutal clash with sure victory—after all, Qin Feng just awakened his physique—, maybe a mutual kill at worst… but this? This was beyond comprehension.

Qin Feng leaned in, calm and measured, his words steady.

"You made a mistake from the very start. To stand a chance against me… you should have fought me as if you were an ordinary man facing a general with Innate Divine Strength."

The commander's eyes widened, his face twisted with disbelief and unwillingness. A physique stronger than Innate Divine Strength?

Impossible. Unthinkable. Unacceptable.

Qin Feng, still holding him up with the helberd pierced through he's chest looked him in his eyes and said softly.

"Our grudges end here. Your story stops now. Take pride in your strength and the life you lived—you truly were strong."

With a clean motion, he pulled out the helberd and twisted it, severing the man's head.

The remaining Northern Khaganate soldiers broke and fled.

Qin Feng did not pursue.

He wrapped the commander's head, retrieved his identity token, and then glanced at the name.

"Boro Yashun… a strong name."

He then moved through the battlefield, collecting the tokens of the fallen generals and captains.
