Chapter 126 - Chapter 126: Warnings and Farewells (2)

What he didn't know was that, right now, Bai Xinyue's mental state was incredibly unstable. It was just today that she had realized the kind of feelings she had for him, and on that same day, she had almost lost him immediately.

Any normal person would go mad from grief at seeing the person they love almost dying for their sake—not to mention a girl like her, who had never before experienced a man protecting her with his life. After all, what kind of man in her age group even had the ability to shield her from the winds and rain?!

Finally, after telling him more words of warning, telling him to take better care of himself, and telling him not to put his life in danger and just properly cultivate, she finally calmed down.

She stared at his face for a while, raising her hands and holding his face with both of hers. He felt the cool touch of her fingers against his skin as she rubbed his cheeks for a moment before giving him a smile. It was a beautiful smile that still made him feel mesmerized—as if he were looking at a painting coming to life—but what he felt emanating from it was sadness and a reluctance to part.

"Guess it's come to this, huh?"

"Yeah. I'll see you in two years."

"See you in two years."

Without waiting for his permission, she instantly wrapped her arms around his waist, bringing him into a tight hug. He felt the warmth of her body on his, her sweet natural scent, and her long silver hair hitting parts of his face.

It was clear that Bai Xinyue had already realized that he had already figured out the identity of the woman who attacked him, and who most likely was staring at this exact scene in anger.

Although, the fact that she hasn't pulled us apart yet means that her impression of me isn't all terrible.

Finally, as if the universe was trying to confirm his suspicions, he heard a cold but soft voice resound through the air, finally signaling the end of their brief time together.

"Xinyue, that's enough. I have already given you as much leeway as I can."

He felt her tremble in his arms as she hugged him even tighter, like she was trying to take him into herself and make sure that they would always be together.

Finally, after a couple more seconds, he and Bai Xinyue looked at each other for one last time; his golden eyes shone with resolve, while her silver-gold eyes shone with longing.

"I'm going now."

"Mhmm."

"Take care of yourself."

"You too."

"Don't die"

"I won't"

"You better be there two years later"

"I will"

After saying these final parting words, she decisively removed herself from his embrace, which he immediately felt, because the warmth of her body suddenly disappeared, making him feel as if he was being cut by a knife.

Shit... this fucking sucks.

She then turned around and walked to an empty corner of the room—the exact same place where the silver-haired woman had first appeared—as she spoke in a cold and monotone voice.

"Let's go, Mother. I'm finished with my business."

Suddenly, right in the supposedly empty space, the extremely beautiful woman with long silver hair appeared once again. She looked at her daughter with a look of affection as she held her face and spoke with a soft tone.

"If he is truly what you believe him to be, then he will surely be able to catch up with you easily, no? This parting is nothing."

Bai Xinyue didn't speak; she pretended to not even see the woman as she replied with that same monotone voice.

"Let's just go."

Seeing that her daughter truly was extremely angry this time, she sighed. Even that sigh seemed to be filled with all sorts of different meanings as she then shook her head, holding one of her daughter's hands in hers and waving her hand.

Instantly, the both of them disappeared from where they were standing as if they had teleported. One moment, he, Bai Xinyue, and the woman whom he had already determined to be her mother were in the room with him; the next, they were gone, as if they had never even existed, and he was left alone in the room.

Despite this, he didn't say anything. He just slowly stood up from his previous position and waited; clearly, he was expecting something or someone to show up, and once again, he was right in his predictions.

"Guess you aren't stupid. That's good."

Once again, the woman with the long silver hair, piercingly cold silver eyes, and a silver dress that seemed to be sculpted from moonlight appeared in the middle of the room, staring at him with cold indifference.

Instantly, the temperature of the room plummeted as he felt goosebumps all over his skin. Inside his mind, the system was already going crazy trying to send him warnings, asking him to run away or to be careful.

He ignored all of it and instead stared directly at her with his golden eyes, both of which were shining with a cold and calculating light.

Alright... let's first have a basic analysis of my current situation.

One: Bai Xinyue's mother is the most powerful individual I have ever met thus far. Based on what I have seen of her abilities—essentially turning back time in a way—she must be so far above me in terms of cultivation base that she could kill me with a mere point of her finger.

Two: It can be seen from the way she treated Bai Xinyue that she cares deeply for her. It seems her Yandere tendencies extend to her daughter as well; she is unwilling to do anything that might cause unnecessary emotional harm to her.

His golden eyes shone with a bright light as his mind seemed to run at a million miles per second, trying to make sure that he didn't make any mistakes in her interactions with this woman
