Chapter 96 - Chapter 96: Ambush (1)

Returning to the present, Huang Shi was currently breathing heavily, with a bit of blood hanging from the corner of his mouth from taking that massive ice claw head-on; however, he was smiling.

Alright... my primordial sunfyre halo is definitely very powerful... however, in terms of pure offensive ability, my sunfyre obliteration sword is still much more potent compared to the random techniques that I create using it.

Shit... do I really have to learn new techniques? How many damn points will I spend if I start going into that hell hole?

Huang Shi grimaced as he checked the amount of scum points that he currently had.

[Scum Points: 7350]

Not even 10,000, but I guess I have to be thankful that I earned that much in just a couple of days. Just interacting with the protagonist gives me so many points, it's like she is a bank.

Huang Shi shook his head as the icy frost that had surrounded this part of the forest melted into water. Sunlight passed through the trees, giving a view of the destruction that had been created due to his fight.

I think I have a good estimate of my battle prowess right now… although my cultivation is only at the 3rd level of the Nascent Profound Realm, my true strength is around the 7th level. Although if I really push it, I can probably fight an enemy at the 8th, although winning would still be a coin toss.

Huang Shi picked up the icy blue horn of the white lion king and stored it inside of his spatial ring, which contained all of the spoils of war he had on this expedition.

So far I've been able to kill around 10 nascent profound realm spiritual beasts. Both of my targets for the mission hall have already been found and taken down, so I've technically already achieved all of my goals for this excursion into the greenwood forest.

My next goal should be to go back to the sect to rest and recuperate, as well as try and figure out a solution to my lack of techniques and make a final decision if I want to spend my hard earned points on those.

Huang Shi then turned around and was just about to speak into the air and notify Bai Xinyue that he was finished when a voice suddenly appeared inside of his head, bringing with it a message that made his eyes turn cold as ice.

"There are people around here, five of them to be precise. Three of them are in the 5th level of the Nascent Profound realm while the remaining two are at the 6th level. However, you need to be careful; there is one more waiting in ambush. I'm not sure how strong he is because he is being pretty cautious, but I can have a rough estimate of around the 7th level of the Nascent Profound Realm at the very least."

"If these people are here to ambush you then you need to be careful. I doubt these people would come all this way just to leave you alive. Once again, unless you face someone that I feel is outside of your level of ability then I will not interfere. If it is your fate to die here then so be it, the path to the top has always been paved in blood."

Huang Shi tried to steady his breathing as he listened to the words coming from Bai Xinyue before asking telepathically, How far away from me are they?

"Still around 100 meters. They are forming an encirclement around you."

Where are the 3 grunts at the 5th level of the nascent profound realm located?

"South, but it's a general vicinity. They're spread thin."

Huang Shi nodded his head in thanks before instantly moving from his current position and staying low on the ground, trying to use the vegetation in the area as cover. Thankfully for him, these kinds of things were part of the training that Bai Xinyue had drilled into his head, saying that if he couldn't even hide from his prey properly, it was him that would become the prey.

After walking for a few minutes, Huang Shi finally saw one of his targets. It was a lanky middle-aged man wearing a standard azure dragon robe, but it was a bit darker in shade—almost black. He gave off an intimidating air, like a person who had seen his fair share of bloodshed. Before long, a second person came into view. This person was also wearing an azure dragon robe that was a shade darker, but the person that came this time looked quite a bit shorter than the previous one.

Two people here, huh... the other one must be nearby...

Huang Shi hunkered down, trying to figure out the gist of their conversation. After a few moments, he finally heard some bits and pieces, and what he heard instantly made his blood turn cold as his eyes turned murderous.

"Hey, do we really need to do all this for just a single brat? Even if he's become a bit stronger these days, he can't be so strong that we need to send so many experts at the nascent profound realm just to make sure he is dead, right?"

The one who spoke was the stout middle-aged man, who looked a bit irritated at his current task.

"You need to shut up and follow orders, unless you want Grand Elder Huang Mo to give you some punishment."

This time it was the lanky middle-aged man who spoke, his face ice cold.

"Hmph."

The stout middle-aged man grumbled to himself, clearly irritated, but you could still catch the hint of fear in his eyes when he heard the name Huang Mo.

Huang Shi, on the other hand, had already started to clench his fist, realizing that it was the Disciplinary Hall that had sent a hit on him.

Those fucking bastards! I haven't even provoked them yet—why the hell do they want to kill me?
