Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Killing Nascent Profound Realm Beasts (1)

After a while, Huang Shi had finished cooking the mutton. It was fresh and gave off an intoxicating smell that made Bai Xinyue's mouth water, which of course she hid as quickly as possible. Obviously, she didn't do a very good job at it because Huang Shi was still able to notice it.

After having a scrumptious meal for a while, Huang Shi started to wash the dishes while Bai Xinyue sat down cross-legged in the room to cultivate. After a few minutes of doing some mundane chores, he then sat down a few steps away from Bai Xinyue with his legs crossed and also started to cultivate.

After a few hours of cultivating, the both of them opened their eyes at the same time. They looked outside the window and noticed that it was already around the afternoon, and so they started the second phase of their daily training routine: hunting Nascent Soul spiritual beasts!

"Your Highness, this time I want to fight two Nascent Soul spiritual beasts at the same time. Fighting against one opponent isn't much of a challenge at this point."

Bai Xinyue, who was walking beside him through the forest, stared at him with one of her brows raised. She thought for a few seconds before responding.

"Three mid-stage Nascent Soul spiritual beasts. This time, you can use both of your Sunfyre Qi."

Huang Shi was a bit surprised at this fact as he stared back at her with a look of confusion on his face before replying.

"I can use both? I thought you said I couldn't use both of my Sunfyre Qi unless I face an enemy that I find really threatening?"

This was something that Huang Shi and Bai Xinyue had discussed at length previously. This was because having two different kinds of spiritual energy in the body of a single individual was a bit rare and might gather unnecessary attention towards him if people found out about it. Just his golden flames had already started to gather a bit of attention towards him in the sect.

"Just because I told you to conceal it does not mean I want you to hide it. If you are forced to use it in battle and you aren't used to it, then you're gonna die without even knowing what happened."

This time, Bai Xinyue once again had that calm and regal expression on her face. Huang Shi knew that when she was talking about cultivation, Bai Xinyue was absolutely ruthless—both to herself and to others. He knew not to joke around with her when it came to these kinds of matters, and so he simply nodded his head.

"You're going to join your sect's competition, right? I've ordered my spies to gather information about the most threatening candidates to your goal of getting first place. Do you want it?"

Huang Shi thought about this for a few moments before shaking his head with an arrogant smile.

"If it was a few days ago, I probably would have taken that gift without any hesitation... but now... if I can't even handle a small Reshi City, how can I even dare to claim that I will one day stand at the top of this world?"

Bai Xinyue looked back at him with a slight smile at the edge of her lips before nodding her head.

"Good."

After walking for a few minutes, they found their targets. The two female lions were sleek and fast, with fur that glowed like bright moonlight and cold blue eyes. They were at the fifth level of the Nascent Profound Realm.

The male lion was much larger and more terrifying. He stood at the sixth level of the Nascent Profound Realm and acted like a king. He had a huge silver mane that crackled with white sparks. A sharp bone horn grew from his forehead, and his roar was so strong that it turned the nearby grass to ice.

"White King Lions. Decently powerful Nascent Profound beasts. Given enough time, they have enough potential to reach the True Profound Realm. These lions are probably siblings and are still young, so they probably haven't reached their true potential yet. A good target."

The three lions, who had been previously walking around trying to hunt some easy meals, suddenly found two hairless monkeys in front of them.

Both targets gave off a very intimidating air; however, it was clear to the beasts that the woman was much more powerful than the man. They snarled at her with threatening gestures, opening their mouths and exposing sharp teeth while letting out thunderous roars.

One of the things that Huang Shi had learned over the past few days training with Bai Xinyue was that it was quite easy for him to fight people on the same level as him. In fact, in the same cultivation level, it was basically impossible for him to lose—except, perhaps, to Bai Xinyue herself.

This led to Bai Xinyue gradually forcing him to fight spiritual beasts that had a higher cultivation base than himself. At first, it was a single 4th level Nascent Soul spiritual beast, which was actually one of the spiritual beasts that the mission hall had ordered him to hunt: the Green Leaf Poison Spider.

Although at first he had a tough time, considering it was his first time fighting an opponent with very potent crowd control and poison abilities, over time he realized that his fleshy body—because of the crimson lightning—seemed very resistant to any sort of damage of a certain level.

This meant that once he figured out the fighting style and habits of the Green Leaf Poison Spider, it was just a matter of taking advantage of its inherent weak points and smashing it to bits with his fists.

Over time, he gradually fought more and more powerful spiritual beasts, until he was eventually able to fight those at the fifth level of the Nascent Profound Realm with ease.

"Alright, same rules. Unless something vastly more powerful than you shows up, I won't interfere. Even if you die, that's your fault for being so weak. Good luck."

Huang Shi nodded his head, having already gotten used to this side of her personality as he prepared for battle.

The three lions, seeing that the woman who they felt was the most threatening had disappeared, lost their fear. They started to roar with primal anger in their voices, their eyes now locked onto Huang Shi.
