Chapter 38 - Chapter 38: Revelation (3)

When Huang Shi heard the words coming out of his grandfather's mouth, he was well and truly shocked; this was something even bigger than the revelation that he wasn't actually related to his stepmother at all.

What the fuck? Is my father some sort of immortal?!

The thought of this excited him by no small amount as he once again took a quick look at his status—something that he had thus far ignored and hadn't even asked the system about because he didn't have any time.

[Bloodline (Dormant): Primordial Dragon God]

Damn... is my father from the clan of the primordial dragon god or something?!

Before he could even think about it further, his grandfather, who clearly wasn't finished with his story, suddenly started to speak once more.

"Although I don't know how powerful your father is, I can at least remember what he did the moment he regained his cultivation base. The first thing he did was wipe out all of the memories of the people who had ever met him, except for your mother and me. This was, in his words, a form of protection, as the more people knew about him, the higher the likelihood that his enemies would find him!"

What the fuck? He wiped out the memories of all the people who ever met him? How strong would you have to be to do something like that without just killing everybody?

Even though he didn't know much about techniques that affected memories, he knew for a fact that the mind was one of the most fragile things about a person.

Any little nudge would cause irreparable damage, causing a person to either go mad or just outright die. This meant that manipulating memories at such a large scale required a level of precision so high that he couldn't even comprehend it.

Huang Shi then shook his head as he realized that thinking about these sorts of things would lead him nowhere at his level; it would only cause him to feel a sense of pressure.

Whatever, I'll reach that level eventually!

Huang Li, on the other hand, gave this grandson of his some time to digest the information. Clearly, he also expected that he would be at least shocked by this revelation, and so he waited for him to calm down before continuing to speak.

"After that, time flew by quite fast as your mother and father spent a lot of time together. They were clearly in love and your mother was slowly progressing through her pregnancy. However, we and your mother knew that it was only a matter of time before your father left, and we both kind of expected when it was going to happen."

When Huang Shi heard these words, he quietly nodded his head as he spoke.

"After I was born, is that right?"

When Huang Li heard that his grandson had figured it out, he nodded his head with a sad smile as he continued to speak.

"That's right. After a few months of spending time together, your father told your mother that he would leave after you were born, but he reassured her that he would leave not because he didn't love you and your mother, but because him staying with you would put you two in too much danger!"

Huang Shi suddenly squinted his eyes as numerous thoughts went through his head, the key point being the final word that his grandfather had said.

Danger? Why would there be danger?

Huang Li, on the other hand, continued to speak as his voice grew more and more somber.

"Your mother was, of course, heartbroken, but she was a strong woman and told your father that she understood. All she wished was for your father to stay a while and wait until you were born before he left."

Even though Huang Shi felt a bit bitter that his father would leave him and his mother so soon, he also understood his struggles; as a person with his level of cultivation, the enemies he would have must also be incredibly powerful.

If my father was left on this low-level planet to recuperate, his injuries must have been severe to the point of death. I guess it was his luck that he met my mother; anyone else would have just killed him to get ahold of his treasures.

It was at this point that he noticed that there was a shift in his grandfather's demeanor as his eyes suddenly grew wide with anger before speaking with gritted teeth.

"However, at the level of cultivation your father possessed, things could never be so simple. Just around a week before you were born, the sky suddenly turned dark and the heavens churned before a single individual appeared in the sky. I remember it like it was yesterday: it was an old man wearing a pure white robe that didn't seem to emit any spiritual energy whatsoever. In fact, he seemed like an old mortal. However, the moment your father saw this person, his expression paled and turned white as a sheet of paper before suddenly flying up into the sky to meet him."

Huang Shi also turned serious when he heard this as he listened closely to his grandfather's story, as this was likely the most important part.

"I didn't get to hear what they were talking about, but they were clearly arguing, and before I knew it, they flew up higher into the sky and disappeared. I didn't really understand what was going on, but from my instincts as a cultivator, I quickly realized one thing, they we're fighting!"

They probably flew higher up to avoid damaging the people on the ground.

"After around an hour had passed, your father suddenly appeared in front of your mother and I. He was clearly heavily injured, but he tried to put up a tough front as he then held your mother's belly and did something—although I don't know what. After that, he and your mother talked in private before your father disappeared for good."

Although Huang Shi also didn't know what his father did, he could make an educated guess based on the clues his grandfather told him and the information provided by the system.

My father sealed my bloodline.
