Chapter 9 - The Strange Bond

Mewsia landed on a tree, and I held on. I looked at Mewsia, still bewildered. She looked to me just as surprised. I couldn't figure out what to say, and my best guess is Mewsia couldn't figure that out either. Then I heard something land beside us. I looked, and Ney'tar and his Ikran landed beside us.

"Ruby?" Ney'tar asked, "What is it?"

"Are you supposed to hear your Ikran's thoughts?" I asked, very confused, but Ney'tar looked shocked at what I asked. "Like full-on conversation words."

"What? No, your thoughts are connected, yes, but you shouldn't hear words." Ney'tar sad, and I was left more confused.

"I could hear her," I said, and looked between him and Mewsia. "Is it really that weird or strange with everything?"

Ney'tar looked bewildered, and he looked like he didn't know what to say. I didn't know either. We went on the flight, and I was still so confused. We went back to my current place of residence, and I was still trying to think back on everything that had just happened. I disconnected from my Ikran, and I was still so confused. Ney'tar hadn't left yet and stood with me, perplexed.

"Ruby," Ney'tar said. I looked to him, still confused. "You were gifted when you came to Pandora. Gifted by Eywa."

"This place, I don't belong here," I said, my heart aching. "This planet is beautiful, and I would love to stay, I really would, but if this planet is physically changing either body I'm connected to, I can't... it's just,"

I couldn't finish my words, and I just felt so overwhelmed by the change in my avatar, and by changes that even Ney'tar didn't know how to handle. Ney'tar placed his hand on my arm, and I looked into his eyes.

"I know," He said, his hand slid down my arm to my hand. "Ruby, you proved yourself with survival skills and what you can do."

"Thanks, despite that, I was never a part of Pandora, I'm not Na'vi either. This place isn't where I should be," I replied, "I'm not... I'm not like you."

Ney'tar looked at me, and I saw something change in his eyes. I couldn't tell what had changed, but something there wasn't the same.

"Ruby," He started again, "I wanted to show you something, something only our clan members go."
