He's gonna snap any minute now. Rex said, smiling evilly.
It would be a job not well done if he didn't. I told my wolf.
Before I even made my way to the room, I knew Lucien would come early to report me. That had always been his forte. Not that I cared or gave a damn about being reported, but two could always play that game.
I was here on a mission, and I refused to let the mate bond make me vulnerable. So I used reverse psychology instead.
And I'm glad it worked.
Father thinks Lucien said what I said and that it was brilliant. Knowing Father, he would always agree with whatever his favorite son suggested, all because he didn't want to bruise his ego.
They were predictable.
But I didn't do this just for the sake of it, or simply to dismiss my mate. I wanted Lucien to feel bad knowing it wasn't what he said but Father agreed and praised him.
And his perfect timing made everything even better.
And Father didn't disappoint.
