Chapter 25 - CH22, Water Style

~Soutarou POV, scene continues~

Soutarou stared at the older man frowning before he gave up and said, "Do you really have to use genjutsu to hide your chakra like that?"

The man smiled and said, "Are you sure it's a genjutsu hiding my chakra?"

Soutarou's hands shot up as he immediately disrupted his chakra again and formed the ram hand seal.

'Genjutsu release.'

'This old man holy shit! I should be amongst the most chakra sensitive people and he still put me under a genjutsu the moment I flickered to this area.'

The man smiled and said, "Most people don't realize why that genjutsu effected them-"

Soutarou interrupted, "It's just a disorienting one isn't it? No killing intent, just a subtle attempt to fool the senses."

Soutarou finally looked over at the man's chakra and was surprised at his reserves before nodding internally, 'To inherit my grandfather's water release… even if partially… this level of chakra is to be expected… still he's in the twilight years of his prime so then how the hell is he still elite jonin level in the future during Naruto's era? Well I guess his chakra reserves plus his experience means losing that little bit of chakra and physicality means nothing in the long run for him.'

'Sort of like Onoki, he just uses powerful methods to overcome the restrictions of age, though comparing him to Onoki is also unfair. That old man is terrifying, absolutely terrifying. Amongst the current Kage the stand out ones are Hiruzen, Ai, and Onoki and even amongst those three Onoki's singular technique makes him a threat no one wants to take head on, it's also why despite having no clear heirs, Iwagakure is still stable as a rock.

'Enough of that… it's time to scam an old man!'

Soutarou's eyes flashed for ryo symbols for a moment before he put on his polite face, to which Kosuke felt a bit of a weird feeling coming from Soutarou and said, "Soutarou Morita… putting on a facade to keep the people happy… Most people even twice your age can't do that. I almost couldn't tell until now… I'm curious though I don't recognize what you're feeling towards me?"

Soutarou dropped the pretense and just said, "I'm thinking about how to scam an old man into teaching me water release, kenjutsu, genjutsu, and his combat style. I'm also thinking that if he refuses I'll take him to my house show him the Aonami, the Sword of Thunder, and The Second Hokage's summoning scroll for Hōrai Trench and tell him he owes my grandfather, the second hokage a debt and that the grandson's come to collect."

… Dead silence… for nearly ten minutes… before-

~POV Shift. Kosuke Maruboshi POV~

Kosuke literally choked on air hearing that and stared at Soutarou in sheer disbelief as he thought,

Kosuke stared at Soutarou like he was an alien before he clutched his forehead and said, "You're Haruto and Sayuri's son?"

Soutarou deadpanned and said, "Do you see any other Morita's anywhere?"

Kosuke nodded before saying, "I believe there's a Kabuto Morita. Still in that case I also owe your grandmother a debt for teaching me genjutsu."

Soutarou waved his hand and said, "Kabuto's adopted and if that's really the case… then please guide me Kosuke-sensei!"

Soutarou deeply bowed for once while his eyes that were pointed on the ground lit up with ryo signs again, 'I'll make this freeloading old man take me to barbecue everyday after training and dash and make him pay the bill! Our Senju clan must recoup its losses!'

Kosuke put his hand on his chin before saying, "I'll confer with Lord Third, but most likely the answer will be yes. I assume you live at Toka-senpai's House?"

Soutarou nodded before the two exchanged some contact information.

As Soutarou gleefully walked away, while Kosuke stared at his back in contemplation…

'Still I suppose all of those changes really were his own ideas then… just like Tobirama-sama… To think though he'd shamelessly ask me to guide him the first time we've met… He's also just like Haruto… that brat the moment he'd learned I knew water release back then came running over to me. For how unhardworking that boy was, his talent was the polar opposite… He became an elite jonin through just talent… if he'd tried harder maybe Soutarou would still have a father…'

'Such a regretful thing… At least I see this boy is very hardworking… Jonin level chakra and physicality as well as those sharp instincts and even some combat experience at six years old? He might even surpass… Well maybe… let's see… You want to learn? Very well… I'll make sure you become the monster you're destined to be.>

~Soutarou POV, Morita Household.~

'Who'd think my original plan to go find this old man would turn out like this? Well no matter, I'm glad it happened all the same. My jutsu have been falling behind now that I've thought about it. My only real skill right now is in taijutsu. The others require more development, the good thing is I already completed the first two steps of water chakra transformation training.'

'If I ever want to reach the speed at which Tobirama used water style I'll have to master all the way up to the fifth level. Though my current level is good enough to use water in a waterless environment it's not like Tobirama who could use water anywhere all the same regardless and never spat it out of his mouth using silvia as a base, he just used straight up atmospheric water.'

'Well no matter… So far I've managed the leaf moisture activity and the water manipulation so far, but the next step is where Jonin gets differentiated into Jonin and Elite Jonin. Even if I haven't mastered the techniques to back it up, just taking this step will push me into a new realm of possibility. In the ninja world you either master everything like Hiruzen or you take one ability to the absolute peak.'

'While Hiruzen's method works well for him, it's also extremely talent extensive, additionally even he specializes in Fire and Earth release, his other styles are far weaker closer to the pinnacle of S-rank while his Fire and Earth Release are pinnacle of Kage Rank.'

'On the other hand there's monsters like the Third Raikage who focused his physique and Lightning Chakra Mode to such a point that he's honestly a Gatekeeper to the Super Kage Realm.'

'While I'd offer the same compliments to Hiruzen, the reason he's feared amongst kage is his adaptability and his group or army combat, large scale techniques that can level battlefields not his actual single combat. Still going Hiruzen's route isn't effective in the short-run…'

'Right now I need singular fire power… Even a one trick pony, while yes has dozens of more weaknesses also allows me to grow stronger in the short term very fast. Example number one, even if he's from another version of this world, is Fujin Suzuki (Naruto: The Wind Calamity), by focusing on the lethality of wind release he was able to break through to S-rank rapidly, even though there were entire units dedicated to countering him, he not only proves that speed is the ultimate path in the Naruto world, but that lethality is as well.'

'While I could perhaps go the wind style route and just copy him, that gives up defense and isn't realistic. It's way too optimistic. Out of all the chakra natures, only water has the largest range of what it can do.'

'In terms of defensive abilities it doesn't lose out to earth style, in terms of penetrative ability, by using Edo Tensei Tobirama as a reference point we can see that jutsu like Water Style: Severing Wave could even cut the ten tails. At the same time, unlike something like Wind Style where I'd have to start developing techniques, even if I copied others, for Water Style I have a cookie cutter path that is easily improvable.'

'First through hand sign requirements being reduced even further, second through using ideas from my other world and thanks to how easy it is to manipulate water putting those ideas is so much easier, compared to trying to pull something as crazy as Fujin's Wind Domain. Moreover just like Wind I can use Water to easily perform combination jutsu to cut off some of my weakness. Even better, unlike Wind Style that would require a strong foundation in Fire Style to back it up using just a tiny bit of lightning I can electricity almost all of my jutsu.'

Soutarou then walked past Shizune and Kabuto who were in the kitchen discussing what to make for dinner, and walked straight towards the storage room. Taking off his necklace and using the key to unlock the room. Once inside Soutarou did something he normally didn't and actually locked it from the inside.

Unlocking a cabinet Soutarou finally took a scroll out that he'd been meaning to get around to since the day he'd discovered it.

[A Guide to Water Style… By Tobirama Senju]

Soutarou took a deep breath and opened the scroll and began to read…

[Chapter One: A Brief Introduction,

Water Style, it is without a doubt one of the most powerful of the five basic elemental natures. Defense, offense, hybrid combat styles, and even the element it's weak to, earth release, suffer against it, rather than being a detriment.

A strong Water Style user can overcome anything and everything, on any terrain, any time, anywhere. I must strongly caution however that of the elements its chakra requirements are also extreme. The entire basis of any Water Style combat style is to supercharge all jutsu with extreme chakra quantities, or as others have dubbed it, "Sea Release."

By first creating an environment beneficial to the user, you have already won half the battle. Regardless, just as Water Style's potential is extremely vast, as are its considerations.

Before you delve deeper into this guidebook, I must request that you ask yourself the following questions: "Do you possess the required Chakra Reserves to continuously supercharge jutsu?", "Do you possess the Chakra Control to manipulate water effectively on a large scale, all while using as little chakra as possible?", "Do you possess the drive as well as the creativity to explore and create new techniques?", and lastly "Do you possess the will to progress in the hardest of all chakra nature transformations?"

If by this point you are still reading, you have my commendation and approval to keep reading. As the water's will is not one easily tamed, nor trained. Good luck on your journey and may you revolutionize the waves themselves….

Chapter Two: Understanding Water Styled Nature Transformation

To begin we must start with the bear bones, the leaf moisture activity…

….

The next step is the basic water manipulation and formation activity…

….

If you have begun and made it to this step, I applaud you of the few that read this, even fewer will reach this point….

The third and major stepping point for Water Nature Transformation is the exact opposite of the leaf moisture activity. In all honesty that activity should be called the leaf moisture evaporation activity, not to be confused with the leaf burning activity that achieves something similar through fire chakra transformation. For this next step you will begin by first evaporating the water from a leaf, and continue to improve your speed aiming to make this process near-instantaneous. Then you will finally add one more step. Recondensation of the water…

This activity proves extremely difficult for most and I'm sorry to say this is just a matter of talent. At this point I suggest you focus on another nature transformation or begin to develop your second chakra nature…

Continuing on, To condensate water you must actively focus on the very small particles and molecules of water that exist in the very air itself. By extending your chakra out of the leaf and later your hands or hand that you use to cast jutsu, you must attract the water particles towards yourself.

In fact, this is the exact same activity for step four and step five. The reason we categorize those as separate steps is both to gauge the time or speed along with the range of this attraction.

At step three, completely attracting enough water to hydrate the leaf within one minute is considered mastery, though I suggest lowering this time to less than twenty seconds. While the fourth step is to evaporate an entire tree in about thirty seconds before rehydrating it in about the same. While the fifth step is to drain an entire body of visible water, no smaller than 50 feet in radius and about 50 feet deep, in about fifteen seconds before rehydrating it in five through sheer water transformation. For reference that is about 4 standard pools large (***He means Olympic, but Naruto doesn't have the Olympics***) or about 3 million gallons of water. Beyond that is the realm of theory and beyond my current understanding.

Amendment, Konoha Year Sixteen. I have finally seen the path to the next realm… unfortunately my age means I am unlikely to ever reach it as my chakra will neither grow, nor do water natured water crystals have any effect on me. To reach beyond simply evaporation and condensation we must focus on water's third phase change, or rather Ice. Not true Ice release, but the power to manipulate water through sheer water transformation into Ice and back. On an extremely small and unrealizable scale I have already replicated this, albeit at extreme chakra cost even for me. Still I wish my successors all the best, may you, standing on the shoulders of giants, succeed where I could not. Good Luck.]
