Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Mirrors and Final Acceptance

Scene One: Awakening in the Gray City

Haru slowly opened his eyes. The light was dim, and the air felt cold and heavy. He found himself lying on the ground of an abandoned city where everything was gray—the buildings, the streets, even the sky above was a pale, colorless gray.

Confusion filled him.

"Where… am I?"

He tried to stand, but his body felt unusually heavy. When he tried to speak again, he noticed something strange—his voice had changed. It was deeper, stronger, carrying a strange sense of fusion. It felt calm and clear… not frightening at all. He realized this voice was no longer his alone.

"What happened to my voice?" he said, placing a hand on his throat.

Scene Two: Mirrors and Transformation

As he looked around, he noticed several large mirrors leaning against a massive stone in front of him. He approached them slowly and looked at his reflection.

What he saw shocked him.

His appearance had changed. His eyes were green like Joceka's, yet still carried traces of his original gaze. His hair was slightly longer, streaked with black and violet strands. His skin held a faint, unnatural glow, and his body looked stronger and more balanced. It was clear—this was not a superficial change, but a true fusion between him and Joceka.

"I don't remember looking like this," he said in his new, merged voice.

"And what was I doing, I wonder? Ah… I was fighting a powerful monster… one that showed me memories… memories I no longer remember."

He paused, trying to recall them. Then he realized something terrifying—many memories were gone. Each time he fought a monster, he had lost a part of himself. Now… too much had been erased. A vast emptiness spread through his mind.

Scene Three: The Door and the Hall of Mirrors

Suddenly, a large door appeared before him, glowing with a soft violet light. Haru hesitated for a moment, then chose to step forward.

He entered and found himself inside a vast hall filled with countless mirrors. Each mirror reflected a different version of him. He understood immediately—each one represented a stage of his life, a memory, whether joyful or painful.

He saw himself as a small child laughing with his mother.

He saw himself at school, helping a classmate.

He saw himself during the fire, desperately trying to save his mother.

He saw himself fighting monsters, accepting Narka, saving creatures that were once driven by fear.

Each mirror reflected a fragment of his journey.

Scene Four: The Black Mirrors

At the far end of the hall stood several black mirrors—dark, heavy, and unsettling. As Haru stood before them, their color suddenly shifted into a radiant gold, opening like a gateway.

Before he could enter, something extraordinary happened. All the memories from the previous mirrors emerged before him. Every version of himself stood there—child Haru, teenage Haru, Haru after the fire, Haru after every battle.

Each one spoke.

Each sentence carried a message of self-acceptance.

Child Haru said:

"Accept that you were afraid. There is no shame in fear."

Haru after the fire said:

"Accept the scars… they are a part of you."

Haru after facing Narka said:

"Accept despair, so you can transform it into strength."

Haru after saving the monsters said:

"Accept your kindness… even if others laughed at you for it."

Each voice delivered the same truth in different words:

Acceptance was the true salvation.

Scene Five: Final Acceptance

Haru stood still, tears filling his eyes. He listened to every word, feeling every fragment of himself finally being embraced.

"At last… I accept myself," he said softly, yet with immense strength.

The golden gate opened wider. Haru took a deep breath and stepped forward without hesitation.
